Abstract

This paper was aimed (1) to analyze the institutional mechanism ofsocio-cultural transformation of Tribe Community, and (2) to analyze the socialmechanism of livelihood change of Duano Tribe. Instrumental case study wasconducted to Duano Tribe in Riau Province. Results showed that (1) the socio-cultural transformation process was pushed by the resettlement program for TribeCommunity in Indonesia, (2) sustainable livelihood role as incentive structure andAMAN as organizational field in the NIES frame analyses, and (3) the livelihoodstrategy of Duano household was maximizing the human capital of familymember. Economic behavior of Duano family member was oriented by (1) sharebelief, (2) socially constructed meaning about welfare and money, (3) the hope ofincentive structure, and (4) compliance to formal rules of Tribe CommunityResettlement Policy.Keywords: Socio-cultural Transformation, Sustainable Livelihood, LivelihoodChange, AMAN, Duano Tribe

Abstract

The problems faced by this shipyard were the insufficient land to increase the ship production, and theinsufficient number of workers so that it took a long time to produce one ship which resulted in piling upof the ship orders at this shipyard. Moreover, it was difficult to obtain the license to export the shipsabroad. This study was conducted from June 20th to July 4th. This study was located at the Shipyard ofthe New Bagansiapiapi Harbor, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The data obtained were analyzed byusing a descriptive analysis and to know the development the data were analyzed by using SWOTanalysis. This shipyard had low technology and was managed by using a family management system.Based on the SWOT analysis carried out by the New Harbor Shipyard, it can still be developed because itwas in a 1.01 quadrant. The strategic plans for the development of the shipyard of the new Harbor wereholding a training for the timber shipbuilders to build FRP ships, attending an entrepreneurship training inthe management of the shipyard industry for shipyard owners, and collaborating with stakeholders such asthe government, raw material supply companies, training and education fields (college) to be able todevelop the New Harbor Shipyard.

Abstract

This paper explores how the Tribe Community adapted their livelihoodsystem related to socio-ecological changed. Instrumental case study wasconducted to Duano Tribe in Concong Luar Village, Riau Province, Indonesia.“Menongkah” is one of Duano Tribe’s subsistence activity in their livelihoodsystem. The sustainability of this subsistence activity depend on how Duano tribemanage and adapt their livelihood vulnerability. Two tipe of livelihoodvulnerability are ecological vulnerability and social vulnerability.Keywords: Livelihood system, Duano Tribe,vulnerability, social vulnerability

Abstract

This research was carried out in December 2020 at the Food and Fisheries Service ofWest Sumatra Province. This study aims to find out how the strategies used by extensionworkers in forming independent target groups in the midst of the many problems thatoccur in the community in Tanah Datar Regency. The method used in this study is asurvey method with a descriptive qualitative approach with a phenomenologicalconcept. The total population in this study were 5 respondents and 6 informants.From the results of the study, it was found that the strategies carried out by extensionworkers in Tanah Datar Regency can be seen from 5 indicators, namely approach,counseling, coaching, training, and evaluation. The forms of approach taken by theextension worker to the community are the mass approach, the group approach, and theindividual approach. Extension officers conduct counseling to community groups aimedat increasing public knowledge about the material being taught. Extension workers alsocarry out coaching in stages, this aims to increase public knowledge and provideexamples of how to do cultivation. In addition to coaching the extension workers, theyalso make useful trainings to increase the skills of the community and they can managetheir own cultivation well. After everything is running, the extension worker evaluateswhat the community lacks and must be done to increase independence in people's livesin Tanah Datar Regency.

Abstract

This research was conducted in June 2021 in North Bintan Area Bintan District Kepulauan Riau Province. The location of this study was determined purposively with the consideration that North Bintan area is a sub-district where most of the people work as users of caulerpa racemosa sea grapes. Determination of respondents in this study was carried out by census and using a mixed approach (mix methods). The data was collected by means of observation, documentation and direct interviews with 7 users of caulerpa racemosa sea grapes. The results of this study indicate that the household income of the coastal community of North Bintan area after becoming a sea grapes user has increased by an average of IDR 1,209,924.00 or 34%. Meanwhile, based on the analysis of the Sustainable Livelihood Framework, it shows that the business of utilizing caulerpa racemosa sea grapes is classified as sustainable from the human resources aspect, financial aspect, production aspect and marketing aspect
