Abstract

Aluminum can waste is becoming more prevalent. There is no trash processing system, and the public does not value recycling. Used-goods collectors may damage themselves by crushing cans with a hammer to reduce volume. To improve the recycling process of aluminum beverage cans, an electric-powered press machine will be designed. The design of this press machine is intended to assist users in the waste treatment process in minimizing space, especially in the trash can storage space, and to make it easier for collectors of recyclables. This equipment is used to compress objects with a driving force. The press machine developed can reduce the volume or dimensions to increase the capacity of transmitting cans, which will subsequently be melted again. Previous research has been based on pneumatic motors and manufacturing techniques that demand a large amount of space and are therefore impractical. Meanwhile, despite having the same power of 1/2 HP, the smaller rotation speed of 272.5 RPM results in a reduced pressing force of 59.17 kgf. The motor was designed to have a power output of 1/2 horsepower and a rotational speed of 1400 revolutions per minute. The transmission system uses a 76.2-millimeter diameter pulley along with a belt that has a type 50 speed reducer ratio of 1:60. A cam, coupled with the speed reducer, moves the pressing cylinder translationally. This enables the pressing cylinder to press up to 1,380 cans per hour. The force required to press the can is 951.57 N.

Abstract

Potatoes are one of Indonesia's horticulture products and are among the top five global staple foods. Indonesian MSMEs still use manual manufacturing technologies to produce potato sticks. Due to limited production capacity and short production times, this business faces significant challenges. After identifying the issues, an idea emerged to create a motor-driven tool capable of cutting potato sticks. The manufacturing of potato stick-cutting tools is expected to enhance business efficiency. This potato stick-cutting machine has a capacity of 336 kg/hour, a potato shear stress of 0.006 N/mm2, a working cutting force of 132 N, and a motor power of 33.84 watts.

Abstract

This study uses a backpropagation neural network to determine the evenness of the chayote chip dough. The Tcs3200 Color Sensor mounted on the stirrer alt is used as a sensor to determine the color of the chayote emping dough. A regression score of 1 indicates that the input and target data match in the test results of the artificial neural network, which has an objective error (MSE) value of 0.0096306 achieved in the 313th epoch. Changes in RGB color readings on the TCS sensor from min values ??<40 and max values>52 in mixing dough are influenced by distance and light intensity which will be converted in the form of frequency.

Abstract

The potato stick-cutting machine is a device that cuts potatoes into long pieces (sticks). This machine can achieve consistent cutting outcomes and rapid cutting times. This is certainly difficult to accomplish manually using hands and knives, especially if the person is inexperienced. This machine's components include a frame, a blade, a knife nest, a cutting disc, a pulley, a V-belt, a pressing lever, a speed regulator, and an electric motor. The potato stick-cutting machine measures 500 mm in length, 300 mm in width, and 700 mm in height. It is driven by a 1 HP motor that is linked to a speed controller to limit its speed. The motor can produce 135 kg of potato sticks per hour using a 2-inch and an 8-inch pulley. The manufacturing cost of this machine is Rp. 4,827,488.00.

Abstract

Peanuts are a plant that is widely cultivated in Indonesia, but the process of peeling the skin is still often done manually, which requires a lot of time and effort. To increase efficiency in this process, a peanut peeling machine with a horizontal cylinder design was developed. This innovation is designed to make it easier for farmers and small entrepreneurs to peel peanuts with a larger production capacity. This peeling machine is equipped with a nut discharge regulation system and uses a 1 Hp electric motor with a speed of 1400 rpm which is transmitted to 700 rpm. The stripping process is carried out by putting the dried peanuts into the hopper, then the knife cylinder rotates to separate the husks from the peanuts. The system is supported by a belt and pulley mechanism that ensures smooth operation of the machine. The test results showed that this machine was able to peel peanuts with a capacity of 64 kg/hour, providing a significant increase in productivity when compared to manual methods. This machine is expected to provide a more efficient solution for the agricultural industry and home businesses in peanut processing.

Abstract

Coffee is categorized into three types Robusta, Arabica, and Liberica. The roasting process is the most crucial step in developing the aroma, flavor, and underlying color that determine coffee quality. The coffee roasting process produces complex aroma compounds that impart the desired taste and aroma characteristics of coffee. This research aims to design a coffee content detection tool by determining the carbon monoxide (CO) level in Arabica, Robusta, and Liberica coffee. The research uses the Backpropagation artificial neural network method with 2 hidden layers, including 4 input layers and 3 output layers, to identify the tested coffee varieties. The highest carbon monoxide (CO) levels were found in Arabica Special coffee, with an ADC level of 662 carbon monoxide gas. The lowest carbon monoxide (CO) levels were detected in Liberica coffee, with an ADC level of 105 carbon monoxide gas. Coffee identification was carried out using an artificial neural network method with a success rate of 98% for Liberica coffee, 100% for Arabica coffee, and 98% for Robusta coffee.

Abstract

Now, washing carpets no longer requires a lot of human power. Just one person can wash carpets on a large scale at the same time as three human workers. By using this carpet brush machine, the job of cleaning carpets will be easier and faster. The aim of designing this machine is a form of innovation and creativity in a carpet brush machine with an electric motor drive. The machine is made with the addition of a detergent channel tube to make work easier and increase efficiency. The working principle of this carpet brushing machine is that when the motor is turned on, a pulley with a size of Ø 76.2 mm will rotate with a rotation of 1400 rpm, followed by a belt with a size of 24 inches to rotate the pulley on the shaft with a rotation of 703.5 rpm with a pulley size of Ø 152 mm. The rotation will be continued by the shaft, and the brush will rotate to clean up dirt or stains on the carpet. In making this machine, we obtained a motor power of ½ HP and a rotation of 1400 rpm. This machine has dimensions of 580x380x980 mm and uses a belt and pulley transmission with brush components. This carpet washing machine is used for MSME businesses (micro, small and medium businesses)

Abstract

Kanagarian Salo kabupaten Agam adalah sebuah wilayah yang mata pencarian masyarakatnya adalah bertani. Salah satu komoditi yang banyak ditanam adalah tanaman jagung karna tanaman ini mudah tumbuh, proses perawatan sangat mudah dan bangsa pasar juga bagus untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan pakan peternakan. Kegiatan pemipilan jagung di Nagari salo masih manual sehingga tidak efektif dan efisien dalam proses pemipilan membutuhkan waktu 1 minggu untuk pemipilan 1 ton jagung. Tujuan kegiatan PKM adalah menyumbangkan alat bantu pemipil jagung pada mitra supaya proses kerja mitra lebih efektif dan efisien. Metoda yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah rancang bangun alat bantu pemipil sesuai dengan kebutuhan mitra dan pelatihan singkat penggunaan alat. Hasil yang didapat pada kegiatan ini telah dihasilkan mesin pemipil kapasitas 250 kg/jam dengan penggerak motor bensin kapasitas 5HP telah berfungsi dengan baik dan diserahkan ke mitra. Mitra juga diberikan pelatihan singkat tentang pengoperasian alat. Alat tersebut telah digunakan oleh mitra untuk kegiatan pemipilan. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif bagi perekonomian berkelanjutan pada mitra yang melibatkan peningkatan produktivitas, efisiensi kerja, dan pendapatan petani, sekaligus mengurangi beban kerja manual
