Abstract

Wireless network is a quite new technology in computer network world. It can connect computers without any wire, but it use radio frequency at 2.4 GHz. Today computer network still use wire to connected computers. Wireless is use the air medium, so there is different medium between wire and air. To connect these two medium networks we need other hardware. The hardware is called access point, but there is other problem comes. Access point price is quite expensive, so to handle this problem people were tried to look for another alternative. The alternative is use a personal computer with FreeBSD operating system, but it can't simulate access point perfectly because access point is hardware. It doesn't matter that can't simulate perfectly because not all feature that access point have are use. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Jaringan komputer nirkabel merupakan suatu teknologi yang cukup baru di dalam dunia jaringan komputer dimana teknologi ini memungkinkan menghubungkan komputer tanpa menggunakan kabel melainkan menggunakan gelombang dengan frekuensi 2.4 GHz.Jaringan komputer saat ini pada umumnya masih menggunakan kabel dengan adanya perbedaan media yaitu udara dan kabel maka dibutuhkan suatu alat untuk menggabungkan kedua jaringan yang berbeda media tersebut. Alat ini bernama access point. Tetapi ada masalah lain dimana harga access point tersebut tidaklah murah sehingga dicarikan alternatif lain yaitu menggunakan personal computer dengan sistem operasi FreeBSD. Tetapi alternatif tersebut tidak bisa sempurna seperti access point yang berupa perangkat keras. Tetapi semua itu bukanlah masalah karena tidak semua fasilitas accses point digunakan. Kata kunci: LAN nirkabel, FreeBSD, jaringan komputer.

Abstract

The increasing demand for secure, seamless authentication mechanisms in public and private networks has fueled the need for more robust network access control (NAC) systems, as well as Single Sign-On (SSO) which is critical for organizations that require seamless and secure access across different platforms. This paper explores SSO in a fully open source implementations with Keycloak, RADIUS and LDAP; extending to captive portal implementations with PacketFence for Wi-Fi authentication. Specifically, this paper highlights the integration of PacketFence with FreeRADIUS for captive portal authentication, leveraging Keycloak for identity management and providing users with secure Wi-Fi access. Real-world examples, such as authenticating campus network users over Wi-Fi with 802.1X and captive portals, illustrate how these systems work in tandem to provide scalable and secure network access control. Testing showed up to 500 concurrent users with stable performance, minimal latency at a case study university. Key performance metrics included response times below 30ms.
