Abstract

Abstract

Kata Kunci : Keselamatan, Kesehatan, Siswa, Sekolah, SMP, UKS.ABSTRACTThe School Health Unit is a government program that must be implemented in schools from kindergarten to high school. UKS can be a tool that can improve students' health awareness at school and in society. Children are often the victims of injuries and accidents in the school environment including the roads around the school. The purpose of this study was to improve the knowledge and attitude of students regarding safety in the school environment. The method using is through education/socialization in the form of counseling using the lecture method with the help of leaflets/brochures about the UKS program on student safety. This research was conducted on October 30, 2024 at AL-MISBAH Riau Junior High School in Tanah Merah Village, Siak Hulu. The sample in this study were students of Al-Misbah Riau Junior High School. The results of the study were that there was an impact on the knowledge and attitudes of students of IT-Misbah Riau Junior High School.Key Word : Safety, Health, Students, School, Junior High School, UKS.

Abstract

Makrozoobenthos plays a crucial role in ecosystems as producers, primary consumers, and decomposers or detritus that can degrade organic compounds into inorganic ones. As primary consumers, the role of makrozoobenthos is vital for the survival of wildlife, especially various species of shorebirds commonly found in coastal areas and fish-shrimp pond areas. The aims of this research is determining the abundance of makrozoobenthos (ind/m3) and ecological index at the pond in Ulee Matang Village. The diversity of macrozoobenthos species in the area consists of 12 species of three phylum and six classes. The abundance of macrozoobenthos on two type of pond (fish and shrimp) are ranging from 892 ind/m3 to 1400 ind/m3. The Arthropoda phylum, abundant in the research area, notably featured the Water Flea Daphnia sp. that serving as a primary food source for fish and shrimp prior to the introduction of fish and shrimp seeds. This suggests a significant role of arthropods in the food chain, supporting not only fish and shrimp but also macrozoobenthos and shorebirds.

Abstract

Industrial landscapes are often perceived as degraded environments with limited ecological value. However, when managed responsibly, such areas can contribute to biodiversity conservation and environmental education. This study investigated the diversity, conservation status, and ecotourism potential of birds in the operational areas of PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (PT Inalum), located in Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra. Bird surveys were conducted from August 2023 to May 2024 across three habitat types: residential green areas, plantation and shrub habitats, and coastal–mudflat zones. Data were collected through direct visual observations, supported by photographic documentation and sound recordings. Species identification followed Eaton et al. (2021), and conservation status was assessed using the IUCN Red List and Indonesian national protection regulations. A total of 103 bird species belonging to 41 families were recorded. Of these, 22 species are legally protected in Indonesia, and one species is listed as Endangered globally, the Milky Stork Mycteria cinerea. The study also documented 31 migratory species and several breeding records, including Nisaetus Limnaeetus, Pycnonotus analis, Treron vernans, Ploceus philippinus, and Merops philippinus, indicating the site’s importance for both resident and migratory populations. The diversity and breeding activity suggest that PT Inalum’s managed habitats provide suitable ecological conditions for birds despite industrial operations. These findings demonstrate that corporate-managed lands can serve as complementary conservation habitats and highlight their potential for birdwatching-based ecotourism and environmental education. Establishing a continuous monitoring program, strengthening wildlife management capacity, and developing interpretive facilities are recommended to enhance conservation outcomes and promote sustainable industry biodiversity integration.
