Abstract

Poverty is a state of being unable to meet basic human needs such as food, clothing, shelter, education, and health. The poverty rate can be influenced by population, employment, and unemployment. Moreover, the world's economic conditions are changing from time to time, requiring humans to survive in every situation. The poverty research conducted in Riau Province requires large data and data management, and the data used uses time series data. The data used in this research is secondary data obtained from the official website of the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics. This study aims to determine the effect of poverty in Riau Province in 2018-2021 and compare the two methods used to analyze this research. The two methods used in this study are Panel Data Regression which includes Common Effect Model (CEM), Fixed Effect Model (FEM), Random Effect Model (REM), and Multiple Linear Regression. The study results show that the panel data linear regression method is the most appropriate for data on the influence of poverty in Riau Province in 2018-2021.

Abstract

Cyberchondria adalah suatu kondisi dimana seseorang mengalami peningkatan kecemasan sebagai akibat dari pencarian informasi kesehatan secara online. Remaja sebagai pengguna internet terbesar di Indonesia rentan mengalami cyberchondria, karena perkembangannya yang belum matang dari segi fisik maupun psikologis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan literasi kesehatan mental dan kecemasan kesehatan dalam memprediksi cyberchondria pada remaja. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 428 orang remaja yang ada di Kota Pekanbaru. Desain penelitian menggunakan kuantitatif korelasional dengan analisis regresi linear berganda. Peneliti menggunakan tiga jenis skala untuk mengumpulkan data yaitu The Short Health Anxiety inventory (SHAI), Mental Health Literacy scale (MHLS) dan Cyberchondria severity scale 12 (CSS-12). Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis, diperoleh bahwa literasi kesehatan mental dan kecemasan kesehatan secara simultan dapat memprediksi cyberchondria pada remaja. Abstract

Sleep is a fundamental necessity that must be met by every individual, including students. Poor sleep patterns among students can have significant impacts on both their physical and psychological well-being. Therefore, students must pay attention to their sleep habits to ensure they achieve high-quality rest. Quality sleep refers to a state in which a person experiences restful and restorative sleep, leaving them feeling refreshed and energized upon waking. Factors such as smartphone addiction and academic stress have been shown to affect sleep quality. This study aims to examine the influence of smartphone addiction and academic stress on sleep quality among students at a university in Pekanbaru. The study's participants consisted of 250 students aged between 17 and 24 years, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using scales that measured sleep quality, smartphone addiction, and academic stress, and were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicated that both smartphone addiction and academic stress significantly impacted sleep quality (R=0.521; R2=0.271; F=45.92; p<0.01). Achieving good sleep quality is more feasible when smartphone usage is kept in moderation and emotional regulation is well-managed.

Abstract

Abstrack Students studying away form home often face various challengers that reflect inadequate adjustment to new environment, indicating suboptimal psychological well being. This study investigates the role of self compassion and perceived social support in predicting the psychological well being of students studying away form home. A total of 178 university students in Pekanbaru ware recruited using accidental sampling. Data were collected using the self compassion scale, the Multidimensional scale of perceived social support and psychological well being scale. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that self compassion and perceived social support significantly predicted psychological well being (F=59,417, R=0,636, p < 0,05). Interestingly, perceived social support showed a significant negative effect on psychological well being (β = -0,283, p < 0,05), suggesting that when support is perceived as intrusive or stress inducing, it may undermine rather than enhance well being. Keywords: self compassion, perceived social support, psychological well being, students studying away form home ABSTRAK Berbagai permasalahan dan tantangan yang dialami mahasiswa rantau mendandakan kurangnya penguasaan terhadap lingkungan baru yang menggambarkan psychological well being yang kurang baik. Psychological well being mahasiswa rantau dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor, diantaranya faktor internal seperti self compassion dan faktor eksternal seperti perceived social support. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran self compassion dan perceived social support terhadap psychological well being mahasiswa rantau. Sebanyak 178 orang mahasiswa yang berkuliah di kota Pekanbaru menjadi responden pada penelitian yang diperoleh dengan teknik accidental sampling. Data penelitian dikumpulkan menggunakan skala welas diri dari Suganto, Suwartono dan Sutanto, multidimensional scale of perceived social support (MSPSS) dari Zimet dan skala psychological well being dari Ryff. Berdasarkan hasil analisis regresi linear berganda diperoleh bahwa self compassion dan perceived social support berpengaruh signifikan terhadap psychological well being pada mahasiswa rantau dengan nilai koefisien regresi F = 59,417 dan nilai koefisien korelasi R = 0,636, p = 0,000 (p<0,005). Temuan lain dari penelitian ini yaitu perceived social support secara signifikan berpengaruh negatif terhadap psychological well being pada mahasiswa rantau (β =-0,283 dan p = 0,000 (p<0,05)). Hal ini menandakan bahwa ketika dukungan yang diperoleh dirasakan sebagai sesuatu yang menekan dan menjadi stresor maka akan menurunkan tingkat psychological well being pada mahasiswa rantau. Abstract

Students who live away from home are more vulnerable to high levels of stress, which makes it important for them to have good academic buoyancy in order to face academic challenges and succeed in their studies. Perceived social support refers to a person’s perception of social support, which is believed to influence students’ resilience in difficult situations. This study aims to examine whether there is a relationship between perceived social support and academic buoyancy among students who live away from home. Academic buoyancy in these students may increase along with a higher level of perceived social support. This research is a quantitative and correlational study involving 260 students selected through purposive sampling. The instruments used were the Perceived Social Support Scale and the Academic Buoyancy Scale. Data were analyzed using Kendall’s Tau correlation test with the help of the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 25 for Windows. The results showed a significant relationship between perceived social support and academic buoyancy. This means that the higher the level of perceived social support, the higher the academic buoyancy of the student. These findings show the importance of consistently receiving support from parents, friends, and significant others to help reduce the burden of academic demands.

Abstract

One of the determinants of the quality of higher education is the percentage of student’s ability to complete their studies on time. However, in practice, few students can complete their studies in higher education on time. Graduation prediction is one of the things that can be done to increase student graduation so that early prevention or handling of students who have the opportunity to not graduate on time can be done. The aim of this research is to find out and analyze the use of the Decision Tree Method with the application of the C4.5 Algorithm to effectively predict student graduation on time. The data used is that of Mathematics students at UIN SUSKA RIAU's Faculty of Science and Technology. The decision tree was constructed using 150 training data and processed using the C4.5 algorithm to generate 40 rules, which were then tested using 150 data sets with an accuracy of 78.6667 percent and an AUC of 0.8363.

Abstract

Atlet mahasiswa perlu memiliki motivasi berprestasi yang cukup supaya dapat menjalani tuntutan ganda sebagai seorang atlet dan mahasiswa. Seperti yang diketahui, seorang mahasiswa memiliki tuntutan yang besar untuk menyelesaikan tanggung jawab perkuliahannya yang terkadang cukup banyak menghadapi tantangan dan tekanan. Kemudian, jika seorang mahasiswa juga menekuni perannya sebagai atlet yang aktif bertanding tentu ia membutuhkan dorongan yang sangat kuat untuk menjalani aktivitas olahraga dalam mempersiapkan pertandingan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran motivasi berprestasi atlet mahasiswa yang ada di Provinsi Riau. Metode penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan studi deskriptif. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 61 orang yang terdiri dari atlet mahasiswa yang pernah mengikuti pertandingan mewakili Provinsi Riau. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah skala motivasi berprestasi yang mengacu pada teori McClelland oleh Fakhrudin (2019) yang disebarkan secara online melalui google form. Hasil Penelitian ini yaitu, motivasi berprestasi atlet mahasiswa di Provinsi Riau berada pada kategori rendah sebanyak 14,76%, kategori sedang sebanyak 80,33% dan kategori tinggi sebanyak 4,92%.

Abstract

Perkembangan internet membawa dampak bagi kesehatan mental remaja. Dampak positif yang dirasakan adalah akses informasi yang mudah dan murah, salah satunya untuk pencarian bantuan mengenai kesehatan mental. Disisi lain, melimpahnya informasi online terkait kesehatan mental, baik yang valid maupun yang tidak dapat dipertanggungjawabkan, cukup merugikan karena menimbulkan kekhawatiran dan kebingungan akan informasi yang dibaca sehingga meningkatkan rasa cemas dan memicu pencarian yang berulang yang tidak berguna. Fenomena pencarian informasi berulang itu disebut Cyberchondria, yaitu peningkatan kecemasan tentang status kesehatan, sebagai hasil dari pencarian informasi kesehatan mental yang berlebihan (White & Horvitz, 2009). Sebagai kelompok usia yang paling banyak menggunakan internet menurut survei APJII tahun 2023, remaja memiliki kerentanan terdampak Cyberchondria. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran tentang Cyberchondria di kalangan remaja. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 428 orang siswa salah satu SMA Negeri di Kota Pekanbaru. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan alat ukur Cyberchondria Severity Scale 12 (CSS-12) yang diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sebagian besar remaja memiliki tingkat Cyberchondriayang sedang (66%). Kecenderungan untuk mencari informasi kesehatan mental diikuti dengan tingginya durasi penggunaan internet pada remaja. Kata kunci: Cyberchondria, Remaja, Kesehatan Mental

Abstract

Excessive use of social media can make it harder for teenagers to manage their daily activities. This behavior is commonly referred to as problematic internet use. One factor that can contribute to an increase in problematic internet use is social anxiety. When teenagers feel anxious about interacting with their surroundings in real life, they tend to spend more time online, especially on social media, where they feel more comfortable. This study is a quantitative research aiming to examine the relationship between social anxiety and problematic internet use among teenage social media users in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. The study involved 102 teenagers aged 15-18 years as participants. The measurement tools used were the Generalized Problematic Internet Use Scale 2 (GPIUS-2) and the Anxiety Scale for Adolescents (SAS-A). The results showed that the research hypothesis was accepted, with a correlation coefficient of 0.763 and a significance value of 0.000. This means that the higher the level of social anxiety, the higher the level of problematic internet use among adolescent social media users in Pekanbaru. This study highlights the important role of parents and educators in helping teenagers manage social anxiety so that it does not lead to excessive and problematic internet use.
