Abstract

Background: Bawang merah merupakan salah satu jenis sayuran yang manfaatnya banyak digunakan oleh masyarakat Indonesia. Bawang merah mempunyai kandungan sulfur compound seperti Allyl Propyl Disulphida (APDS) dan flavonoid seperti quercetin yang dipercaya bisa mengurangi resiko kanker, penyakit jantung dan kencing manis. Kulit bagian luar bawang yang mengering dan kerap berwarna kecoklatan kaya serat dan flavonoid serta antibakteria terhadap Stapylococcus aureus dan E.coli. Bawang merah memiliki senyawa aktif sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai teh herbal dan salah satu metode penanganan terhadap limbah organik dikarenakan limbahnya menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan berupa aroma yang tidak sedap. Tujuan dari pengabdian untuk mengetahui pengolahan limbah kulit bawang merah menjadi teh herbal serta identifikasi tingkat kesukaan masyarakat terhadap teh herbal dari limbah kulit bawang merah sebagai minuman jamu tradisional. Metode: Diujicobakan kepada 20 orang responden yang berasal dari sekelompok ibu-ibu PKK Desa Cibunut Kecamatan Argapura Kabupaten Majalengka, dengan menggunakan pemilihan sederhana terhadap limbah kulit bawang yang masih dapat digunakan sebagai raw material untuk pembuatan teh herbal. Hasil: Hasil metode survei kelayakan menunjukkan hasil yang baik bahwa teh herbal ini disukai dan untuk diterima dilingkungan masyarakat. Keberlanjutan program ini yaitu produk ini akan tetap melanjutkan produksi di setiap tahunnya yang dipegang oleh kelompok ibu-ibu PKK Desa Cibunut. Kesimpulan: Limbah kulit bawang merah dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai minuman jamu tradisional.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 toward Society 5.0 demands a transformation of learning practices toward student-centered approaches and the development of 21st-century competencies, including learning motivation and Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). In Biology education, which is often abstract and conceptual, innovative strategies are required to enhance student engagement and conceptual understanding. This study aims to systematically analyze the effectiveness of gamification in Biology learning on students’ motivation and HOTS. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach was employed by examining indexed articles published between 2020 and 2025 retrieved from Google Scholar, ERIC, Scopus, and ScienceDirect. Article selection followed PRISMA guidelines based on explicit inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using content analysis and synthesized narratively. The findings indicate that gamification consistently improves students’ learning motivation through elements such as points, badges, leaderboards, challenges, progression levels, and immediate feedback. Gamification also positively impacts HOTS, particularly when designed with contextual problem-based and reflective activities. However, its effectiveness strongly depends on the depth of pedagogical design. Supporting factors include students’ technological readiness and structured instructional integration, while challenges involve limited infrastructure and teachers’ competency in designing meaningful gamified activities. Therefore, gamification has strong potential as a strategic pedagogical approach to enhance Biology learning quality and foster 21st-century competencies.

Abstract

 So far, the increase in coffee bean utilization is not directly proportional to itsenvironmental impact. The benefits of coffee beans for health should align with how coffeewaste is also valuable in strengthening the community's economy. Educational steps areneeded for coffee cafes as waste producers. As university personnel, we should mediate thisgap. Community service activities are carried out at QQ café as part of a coffee wasteprogram to be used by farmer groups (POKTAN) Mrengkel I, Pabedilan District, CirebonRegency. This community service activity aims to educate the public how coffee wasteproduced routinely by QQ café as much as 4-5 kg in a week, can be absorbed by theMrengkel I group, Pabedilan District, Cirebon Regency as a party who needs coffee wasteas an alternative to organic fertilizer. Service activities are carried out for four months. Theresults showed that waste management started with sorting techniques on the part of coffeewaste producers for four months, continued at the fermentation step of waste that wassuccessfully collected in a particular vessel, and then ended with waste being handed overto the farming community along with a book on the use of coffee grounds to be used as analternative to organic fertilizer at least succeeded in educating and mediating one party tothe other. That way, the community service activities that we carry out are a form ofdissemination of our research results in educating the public while developing science andtechnology.
