Abstract

The usage of porphyrin as a light-harvesting chromophore is considered as one of the keys to obtaining low-cost and high-efficiency dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). In this paper, a novel porphyrin, 5,10,15-tris(nitrophenyl)-20-(p-(11-bromo)dodecoxyphenyl))porphyrin, having a long alkyl chain and three nitro groups was synthesized. The nitro groups serve as anchoring groups to TiO2 surfaces and long alkyl chain prevents unwanted dye aggregation. The porphyrin was synthesized by condensation of p-(12-Bromododecoxy)benzaldehyde and pyrrole in propionic acid according to an adaptation of the general Rothemund method [1]. p-(12-Bromododecoxy)benzaldehyde was synthesized by nucleophilic substitution reaction between 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 1,12-dibromododecane in acetone. The reaction products were analyzed by 1H-NMR and mass spectroscopy. The absorption and fluorescence spectra of the porphyrin were also recorded. As results, the absorption spectrum of the porphyrin consists of a strong Soret and four weak Q-band. Compared to 5,10,15-tris(nitrophenyl)-20-(p-(11-bromo)dodecoxyphenyl))porphyrin spectrum, there is no wavelength shifting because of the incorporation of the alkyl chain. The fluorescence spectrum of the porphyrin shows two characteristic emission bands and the intensity ratio of those emission bands is always constant when irradiated by different excitation wavelength related to Soret and Q-band.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic left many casualties. The virus attacks the human immune system, which has an impact on physical health, such as: (a) pneumonia, (b) respiratory failure, and (c) death. Hands are one of the parts of the human body that are susceptible to viruses and are the easiest medium for spreading them. Therefore, as a preventive measure to prevent the spread of the virus, hands must always be clean and sterile, which is done by using a hand sanitizer, so that the cleaning process is more effective and efficient. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide awareness to the community to prevent the spread of the virus through the habit of hand sterilization. The target of the service is the residents of the village of Kepuh with the stages of activity, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Preparations were carried out by conducting a preliminary survey to see conditions in the field and obtaining permits for routine mosque activities. Implementation is carried out by cleaning, spraying, and washing mukena. Evaluation of activities is carried out for each stage by collecting and concluding data from each stage of activity. The results of the activity are the washing of mukena, and the cleanliness of the mosque, as well as disinfecting the entire inside and outside of the mosque. The organizers of the activity are lecturers and students and are assisted by the mosque's cleaning staff.

Abstract

Pandemik Covid-19 memberikan dampak bagi pendidikan dasar di Indonesia. Pendidikan dasar adalah suatu pendidikan untuk mengembangkan kualitas manusia melalui pendidikan yang terarah, terencana, dan berkesinambungan. Masyarakat menyekolahkan anak mereka di sekolah dasar agar anak tersebut dapat memiliki kepribadian yang baik melalui penguasaan akademik, spiritual, dan emosional yang cerdas. Proses pembentukan ini dapat dilakukan secara sistematis dan bertahap yang disesuaikan dengan daya individual peserta didik. Mengingat hal ini, sekolah dasar memiliki peranan penting dalam proses pembelajaran. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu meningkatkan kemampuan literasi sains dengan menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran STEM untuk mempersiapkan peserta didik dalam mengikuti pendidikan lanjutan. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah pengembangan dan implementasi pendekatan STEM dan kurikulum sains dalam pelaksanaan belajar mengajar di sekolah alam paska pandemik COVID-19. Disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan pembelajaran STEM akan membentuk karakter peserta didik karena STEM menuntut pola pikir peserta didik menjadi pemecah masalah, inventor, inovator, melek teknologi, membangun kemandirian, berpikir logis dan kritis serta mampu menghubungkan ilmu yang diperolehnya dengan kehidupan sehari-hari.Kata Kunci: Covid-19, Sains, Sekolah Alam, STEM.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology requires education to participate in the use of technology as an innovation in learning. The purpose of this research is to develop and test a surface tension e-module based on Problem Based Learning in the Chemistry Physics course. The research method used in this study is Research and Design using the ADDIE development model which is limited to the analysis, design and development stages. The instrument used to determine the feasibility of the e-module is a questionnaire to test the validity of media experts and material experts. Respondents for testing the validity of media experts and material experts were educators in university and high schools. The feasibility level of the e-module is based on the validation of material experts by 80% which states that the quality of the material in the e-module is feasible from the material aspect and is based on problem based learning, the validation of media experts is 86.7% which states that the quality of the display on the e-module is very decent from the aspect of the media. This shows that the surface tension e-module based on problem based learning is feasible to use and implement in the learning process for university and high school levels.

Abstract

Background: Bawang merah merupakan salah satu jenis sayuran yang manfaatnya banyak digunakan oleh masyarakat Indonesia. Bawang merah mempunyai kandungan sulfur compound seperti Allyl Propyl Disulphida (APDS) dan flavonoid seperti quercetin yang dipercaya bisa mengurangi resiko kanker, penyakit jantung dan kencing manis. Kulit bagian luar bawang yang mengering dan kerap berwarna kecoklatan kaya serat dan flavonoid serta antibakteria terhadap Stapylococcus aureus dan E.coli. Bawang merah memiliki senyawa aktif sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai teh herbal dan salah satu metode penanganan terhadap limbah organik dikarenakan limbahnya menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan berupa aroma yang tidak sedap. Tujuan dari pengabdian untuk mengetahui pengolahan limbah kulit bawang merah menjadi teh herbal serta identifikasi tingkat kesukaan masyarakat terhadap teh herbal dari limbah kulit bawang merah sebagai minuman jamu tradisional. Metode: Diujicobakan kepada 20 orang responden yang berasal dari sekelompok ibu-ibu PKK Desa Cibunut Kecamatan Argapura Kabupaten Majalengka, dengan menggunakan pemilihan sederhana terhadap limbah kulit bawang yang masih dapat digunakan sebagai raw material untuk pembuatan teh herbal. Hasil: Hasil metode survei kelayakan menunjukkan hasil yang baik bahwa teh herbal ini disukai dan untuk diterima dilingkungan masyarakat. Keberlanjutan program ini yaitu produk ini akan tetap melanjutkan produksi di setiap tahunnya yang dipegang oleh kelompok ibu-ibu PKK Desa Cibunut. Kesimpulan: Limbah kulit bawang merah dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai minuman jamu tradisional.

Abstract

Communication skills are one of the mandatory skills that students must master for the development of the 21st century. The use of innovative learning models can also help students to understand the concept of material. The purpose of this study was to improve the communication skills of class X SMK students on the material of the atomic structure and the periodic table of elements by using the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model. The research subjects used were students of class X Pharmacy in the academic year 2022/2023. Research data used on communication skills through observation sheets and study documentation and for learning outcomes used through description tests for pretest and posttest. The data analysis used was quantitative with a quasi-experimental design research type. The results showed that there was an increase in communication skills through observation sheets with an average value of 80.96 in the high category and documentation studies with an average value of 73.21 including the high category. The use of the Discovery Learning model showed that the students' communication skills had increased with an average score of 76.44 on the observation sheet in the high category and the study of documentation with an average value of 70.12 was included in the high category. The conclusion was that the application of the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model was more effective than the application of the Discovery Learning model, so the researchers recommend to use this learning model to help improve students' communication skills

Abstract

Permasalahan sampah laut merupakan salah satu masalah yang merusak kondisi alamiah Pantai Sarwajala yang terletak di Desa Bungko Lor Kecamatan Kapetakan Kabupaten Cirebon. Sampah adalah segala sesuatu yang dibuang yang berasal dari kegiatan makhluk hidup. Sampah laut atau marine debris adalah semua material berbentuk padatan yang tidak dijumpai secara alami di wilayah perairan (lautan atau pantai) dan dapat memberikan ancaman secara langsung terhadap kondisi dan produktivitas wilayah perairan. Metode yang dilakukan yaitu dengan memberdayakan masyarakat melalui sosialisasi mengenai pentingnya membersihkan sampah, praktek langsung pengambilan dan pemilahan sampah dan pendampingan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan melalui program kerja Kuliah Kerja Mahasiswa (KKM) Universitas Muhammadiyah Cirebon dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus 2021 melalui mahasiswa melakukan sosialisasi dampak permasalahan laut untuk lingkungan serta ikut membersihkan sampah di Pantai Sarwajala dengan tujuan untuk membersihkan pantai dan menyadarkan masyarakat akan pentingnya kebersihan serta bahaya sampah. Dampak dari program ini adalah masyarakat sekitar sadar akan kebersihan pantai serta mengurangi sampah laut di Pantai Sarwajala.

Abstract

Low learning activity in science students causes a decrease in critical thinking skills. This can be seen from the results of learning redox material under the Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) of 75 in one of the high schools in Cirebon. Therefore, this study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills by using the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) model for redox material in class X IPA MAN 1 Cirebon City. The research method used a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampling was carried out by Purposive sampling consisting of class X IPA 5 as an experimental class and class X IPA 4 as a control class. The instruments used are critical thinking ability tests, observation sheets, and questionnaires. The selection of a sample based on the KKM of a class was revealed from discussions with a chemistry teacher. The development of the T-test obtained a sig value. 0.000 0.05 and an n-gain score of 0.71 with the highest category. The results showed improved critical thinking skills after being given STEM learning. Students respond very well to the teaching that has been done using the STEM model. Based on the results of the t-test and N-gain test, it can be concluded that the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning model can improve students' critical thinking skills on redox material.

Abstract

Chemistry learning, especially in Indonesia, has not been able to direct students to master critical thinking skills. Using appropriate media and learning models can improve students' critical thinking skills. One of the efforts to improve critical thinking skills is using Chemsketch media with STEAM-based learning models (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics). This study aims to analyze the effect of using ChemSketch in STEAM-based learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) on improving students' critical thinking skills on chemical bonding material. This study used a Non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study were all grade X students of SMA Negeri 1 Karangwareng in the 2023/2024 school year, with the samples used including one class X-7 as the experimental class and one class X-6 as the control class. The data obtained were then analyzed using the N-Gain and simple linear regression tests. The results showed that: 1) STEAM-based learning significantly increases critical thinking skills with an N-Gain value of 0.66. 2) STEAM-based learning significantly affects critical thinking skills with a value of 0.002. It can be concluded from the results of this study that students in the experimental group experienced a significant increase in critical thinking skills compared to the control group. This indicates that integrating ChemSketch in STEAM-based learning can be an effective strategy to improve students' ability to analyze, evaluate, and solve problems related to chemical bonding.

Abstract

Background: Peran penting UMKM semakin dirasakan dalam pembangunan ekonomi, untuk menjamin perlindungan hukum dari pemerintah, UMKM diharapkan memiliki legalitas izin usaha dalam bentuk NIB (Nomor Induk Berusaha). Namun, para pelaku UMKM produk minuman herbal di Desa Cibunut masih minim pengetahuan mekanisme pembuatan Nomor Induk Berusaha (NIB) melalui Online Single Submission (OSS). Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan, meningkatkan pengetahuan, dan mendampingi para pelaku UMKM dalam pembuatan NIB melalui web OSS. Metode: Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 12 orang anggota UMKM Mitra Cipta Raharja yang mengolah kulit bawang merah Bali Karet menjadi produk minuman herbal di Desa Cibunut. Kegiatan terdiri dari sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan pendampingan. Teknik pengambilan data menggunakan instrument tes, lembar observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil: Pelaku UMKM Desa Cibunut menunjukan peningkatan pengetahuan mengenai legalitas usaha dan pendaftaran usaha ke dalam OSS dengan rata-rata skor pretes adalah 29,17% dan rata-rata post tes 91,65%. Setelah dilakukan pendampingan untuk pendaftaran NIB melalui OSS diperoleh legalitas usaha NIB yang dapat digunakan UMKM untuk memudahkan akses permodalan, perlindungan usaha, ataupun dalam pengembangan usahanya. Kesimpulan: Secara keseluruhan kegiatan berjalan dengan baik dan diperoleh hasil peningkatan pengetahuan pelaku UMKM serta dokumen NIB.
