Abstract

Tembesu (Fragraea fragans Roxb) is important tree species for furniture due to its decorative structure, but its propagation facing to the problems on seed availability. Determining explant sterilization technique of tembesu (Fagraea fragrans Roxb.) in in vitro condition is needed to produce aseptic explants for shoot induction in micropropagation techniques. Shoot induction of explants depends on plant growth regulator and growth medium compositions. This study was aimed (1)to analyzing the effect of sodium hypochlorite 10% in sterilization process to obtain aseptic explants, (2) to find out plant growth regulator and growth medium composition on shoot induction of tembesu (F. fragrans Roxb.) in in vitro condition. This study was conducted at Tissue Culture Laboratory, Rumpin Seed Source and Nursery Center, The Ministry of Forestry, Bogor on February – June 2014. Explants were sterilized using sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl 5.25%) at 10% of concentrations in various durations (5, 10, 15, and 20 minutes). Shoot induction was done using MS medium, MS modified medium, and MS added with 15% coconut water that combined with 1.5 ppm of BAP. The result showed that explants soaked in sodium hypochlorite 10% within 20 minutes was recommended for explants steriliziton technique of tembesu. Combination treatment between BAP 1.5 ppm and MS modified medium was the most favorable culture medium for shoot induction of tembesu.Keyword: Benzylaminopurine, Fagraea fragrans, micropropagation, Murashige-Skoog modified, sodium hypochlorite

Abstract

Pembuatan artikel ini bertujuan untuk memberikan penjelasan mengenai agroeduwisata organik di Mulyaharja, Bogor, Jawa Barat. Tahapan kegiatan yang dilakukan yaitu: 1) Konsultasi kepada mentor, 2) Penelitian secara mendalam, 3) Pengumpulan bahan. Semakin lama lahan yang digunakan untuk pertanian semakin berkurang, maka mahasiswa atau anak-anak muda wajib memberikan kontribusinya terhadap pengembangan wisata organik yang bertujuan untuk memberikan pemberdayaan pada pengembangan masyarakat (Community Development) agar kehidupan menjadi semakin sejahtera baik dari segi ekonomi maupun lainnya. Adanya wisata edukasi juga mengajarkan kepada generasi muda untuk semakin menggunakan produk-produk pertanian organik dan mengurangi penggunaan bahan kimia, sehingga masyarakat menjadi lebih sehat dalam mengkonsumsi bahan pangan.

Abstract

The purpose of this writing is to find out the procedure for cultivating Black Soldier Flies (BSF) maggot eggs on a household scale as fish feed. The stages of activities carried out are: 1) Consultation to mentors, 2) In-depth research, 3) Collection of materials. Maggot is a kind of natural food rich in protein. Maggot contains 41-42% crude protein, 31-35% ether extract, 14-15% ash, 4.8-5.1% calcium, and 0.6-0.63% phosphorus in dry form. To maintain BSF larvae, a suitable and quality substrate is needed. Optimal temperature and humidity affect the productivity of females in producing quality eggs. The mating process of BSF flies is strongly influenced by environmental factors and the behavior of adult insects

Abstract

Sandalwood (Santalum album) and Teak (Tectona grandis) are essential wood sources for furniture. Sustainable micropropagation methods can benefit wood availability. This study evaluates NaOCl and Povidone-iodine effects, immersion duration, and concentrations on teak and sandalwood micropropagation. Teak is treated with 10% & 15% NaOCl and 10% & 15% Povidone-iodine. No significant difference was observed between teak treatments; however, povidone-iodine shows potential as an effective teak sterilizing agent. Sandalwood's best sterilization: NaOCl at 10% & 15%.

Abstract

Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) have become a subject of significant debate and monitoring due to their potential implications for human health, environmental impact, and socioeconomic considerations. As a result, risk management strategies and regulatory frameworks have been developed to assess and mitigate the potential risks associated with GMOs. This review focuses on examining the current landscape of risk management approaches and regulations pertaining to GMOs. The review analyzes the key components of risk management, including risk assessment, risk communication and bioethics. It explores the role of regulatory authorities in establishing guidelines for the evaluation and approval of GMOs, ensuring their safety for human consumption and minimizing potential environmental risks. The study also investigates the involvement of international organizations in harmonizing regulations and facilitating global trade of GMO products.

Abstract

Mempertimbangkan tujuan pembangunan berkelanjutan (tujuan nomor 4 : Pendidikan Berkualitas), G 20 - Deklarasi Pemimpin Bali, 15-16 November 2022 di Bali, Indonesia dan Instruksi Presiden Republik Indonesia Nomor 1 Tahun 2023, dirasa perlu untuk merekomendasikan hal-hal sebagai berikut: 1. Hasil kajian dapat diadopsi untuk memulai dimasukkannya kurikulum keanekaragaman hayati di sekolah menengah atas maupun kejuruan dalam bentuk ekstrakulikuler 2. Peningkatan kompetensi guru dan siswa dapat dilakukan dengan memasukkan konservasi keanekaragaman hayati dalam kurikulumnya salah satunya dengan mengadakan pelatihan para guru terkait tehnik reklamasi lahan marginal, bioteknologi untuk konservasi tanaman terancam punah, serta bioprospecting (biodiversity prospecting) melalui Agro-Eco-Edu-Tourism 3. Pengembangan media sosial kampanye konservasi keanekaragaman hayati dan bencana alam yang lebih interaktif sebagai media pembelajaran dan bahan pembelajaran terkait hasil pembelajaran setiap mata pelajaran di SMA/SMK. 4. Pembentukan jaringan antar Negara ASEAN dalam inklusi keanekaragaman hayati di sekolah menengah akan memperkuat dan mempercepat pencapaian Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan, khususnya Tujuan Nomor 4 yaitu menjamin kualitas pendidikan yang merata serta mempromosikan kesempatan belajar seumur hidup untuk semua orang, oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan kerjasama resmi antar mitra.

Abstract

Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menyusun strategi pengembangan ekowisata berbasis konservasi keanekaragaman hayati di Dusun Turgo, Desa Purwobinangun, Sleman, Yogyakarta, sebagai respons terhadap potensi biodiversitas yang tinggi namun tingkat kunjungan wisatawan masih rendah. Ekowisata dikelola dengan mengedepankan prinsip konservasi, pendidikan lingkungan, dan pelibatan masyarakat. Metode yang digunakan meliputi survei lapangan untuk identifikasi potensi objek dan daya tarik wisata (ODTW), termasuk aspek 3A (atraksi, amenitas, dan aksesibilitas) dan keanekaragaman hayati. Selain itu, dilakukan Diskusi Terpumpun (FGD) dengan para pemangku kepentingan (stakeholders) seperti masyarakat lokal, pengelola desa wisata, BKSDA Yogyakarta, BTNGM, dan akademisi untuk mengidentifikasi tantangan, peluang, serta merumuskan strategi pengembangan. Hasil observasi awal menunjukkan potensi signifikan dengan identifikasi 80 jenis burung, termasuk spesies kunci Anis Merah (Geokichla citrina), serta potensi herpetofauna dan flora endemik seperti Anggrek Vanda tricolor. Dusun Turgo memiliki modalitas seperti kawasan Wildlife Turgo yang fokus pada bird watching dan herping. Analisis strategis menunjukkan posisi Dusun Turgo berada pada kuadran Agresif (SO), yang mengindikasikan perlunya memanfaatkan kekuatan biodiversitas tinggi dan dukungan kelembagaan (BKSDA) untuk menangkap peluang penelitian akademik dan pendanaan konservasi. Strategi M83-84ayor yang diusulkan adalah menggunakan data biodiversitas dan dukungan akademik untuk menyusun materi edukasi/interpretasi berbasis ilmiah guna menarik pasar wisata edukasi yang lebih niche (SDGs 4 - Quality Education). Peta jalan pengembangan Ekowisata Turgo direncanakan dalam empat fase (2026-2029), diawali dengan fase persiapan dan diakhiri dengan fase launching agar established sebagai model ekowisata berbasis Pendidikan Konservasi Biodiversitas.
