Abstract

The present study examines challenges and approaches involved in improving character education, namely through the Pancasila Student Profile (P5), at junior high schools located in Semarang City. The data was gathered by employing a qualitative methodology, which involved classroom observations, focus group discussions, and interview. The findings reveal that Junior high schools encounter character challenges such as bullying, minor crimes, disrespect, and internet use are examples. Student discipline, responsibility, social contact, and social media/peer pressure are issues. Academic expectations increase stress. Character education is integrated into the curriculum, teacher training, and extracurricular activities to address these challenges by introducing local wisdom in traditional arts, folk games, and teamwork. Local wisdom-based understanding, role-playing, and social action initiatives are taught. Local wisdom-based character education shapes students' behaviour and attitudes, preparing them for future problems and conserving national traditions. Schools may foster well-rounded students by fostering positive character, student participation, and cultural diversity.

Abstract

Kurangnya kesadaran sebagian masyarakat terhadap kelestarian lingkungan menimbulkan kerusakan lingkungan hidup. Upaya yang dilakukan guna membangun kesadaran masyarakat terhadap kelestarian lingkungan dapat dilakukan melalui proses pendidikan. Sekolah sebagai lembaga pendidikan formal memiliki peran penting dalam memberikan kesadaran pada peserta didik untuk peduli terhadap lingkungan. Tujuan penelitian ini (1) mengkaji pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter peduli lingkungan di SMA Negeri 1 Sukorejo; (2) menganalisis upaya penguatan pendidikan karakter peduli lingkungan di SMA Negeri 1 Sukorejo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Uji validitas data menggunakan model Trianggulasi. Analisis data menggunakan pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) implementasi pendidikan karakter peduli lingkungan di SMA Negeri 1 Sukorejo dilakukan melalui program Adiwiyata dengan menerapkan konsep keteladanan dan pengintegrasian. Pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter peduli lingkungan di SMA Negeri 1 Sukorejo sudah terinclude dalam manajemen sekolah. Strategi pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui kegiatan rutinan, kegiatan spontan, keteladanan dan pengkondisian; (2) Upaya penguatan pendidikan karakter peduli lingkungan di SMA Negeri 1 Sukorejo dilakukan melalui kegiatan sekolah (intrakulikuler,kokulikuler, dan ekstrakulikuler) dan budaya sekolah.

Abstract

Rice is a major food crop in Indonesia that requires special attention in the milling process to ensure working time efficiency. This study aimed to identify the division of work elements in the rice milling process, determine the standard time used by operators, and provide recommendations for improving the work system in the Unsoed “Teaching Industry”. Data was collected by measuring the time of each work element in the rice milling process using a stopwatch. The work elements were divided into two groups: rice milling and rice packaging elements. The analysis methods included data adequacy and uniformity tests, as well as calculations of the normal time and standard time. The results of the analysis showed that the standard time for the rice milling process was 5,920.55 seconds per 100 kg of rice, while the standard time for the rice packaging process reached 27,549.81 seconds per 100 kg of rice. The time required was still relatively long compared to previous studies; therefore, several improvements were recommended, including eliminating unnecessary work elements, thoroughly maintaining the tools in the RMU, and placing a bucket in the outlet hole when changing sacks to reduce the time to collect scattered rice. In addition, the elements of rice sorting can be eliminated in the rice packaging process. Other recommendations include improving the working environment by encouraging workers to wear masks during rice milling.

Abstract

Syawalan tradition is a form of local wisdom that contains social, cultural, and educational values that are closely related to the objectives of social studies education. Social studies education plays an important role in instilling an understanding of social interaction, cultural diversity, and values in community life. This study aims to analyze the meaning of local wisdom values in the Syawalan tradition in Pedurungan Semarang and its relevance in the perspective of social studies education. This research is expected to contribute to efforts to maintain and preserve the values of local wisdom in the tradition of Syawalan in Pedurungan Semarang as one of the nation’s identities, as well as realizing the purpose of social studies education is to form good citizens (good citizenship) in the life of society, nation, and state harmonious. This research uses a case study approach to analyze the meaning of the local wisdom value of the Syawalan tradition in Pedurungan, Semarang, from the perspective of social studies education. Syawalan tradition in Pedurungan Semarang is conducted after Eid al-Fitr, which has social, cultural, and religious values that can be learned in the context of education. The research method used is qualitative to explore the experience and meaning of the community towards the Syawalan tradition. The research location is in Pedurungan Tengah Urban Village, Pedurungan District, Semarang City. The data collection techniques used were observation, in-depth interviews, and documents.

Abstract

Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), has shown a strong commitment to eliminating the three major sins in education sexual violence, bullying, and intolerance as stipulated in Regulation No. 46 of 2023. This policy has inspired various initiatives within educational institutions, one of which is the establishment of the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (Satgas PPKS) at SMAN 2 Semarang. This task force was formed in response to the increasing number of social deviance cases in schools, with data indicating 115 cases of sexual violence, 61 cases of bullying, and 24 cases of intolerance. This study aims to describe and analyze the capacity building of the Satgas PPKS in carrying out its role as a mitigation agent based on Pancasila values. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and training sessions conducted by a community service team from Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). The findings show that Pancasila values serve as a crucial foundation for shaping students’ character to uphold tolerance, justice, and humanity. In this context, UNNES, as a Teacher Training Institution (LPTK), plays an active role in guiding and strengthening the capacity of the Satgas PPKS. Through this initiative, a strategic collaboration is built to create a safe, inclusive, and Pancasila-oriented school ecosystem

Abstract

Desa Karanggintung, Kecamatan Sumbang, Jawa Tengah terbagi dalam 2 bagian yaitu: Kawasan budi daya pertanian dan kawasan pusat pemerintahan dan perekonomian. Mata pencaharian masyarakat pada umumnya adalah bertani, seperti jagung, padi dan sayuran serta peternakan seperti ternak sapi, kerbau, kambing, kelinci dan ayam. Pengelolaan limbah peternakan dan pertanian menjadi biogas dan pupuk organik sangat penting untuk diterapkan agar lingkungan tetap terjaga dari pencemaran. Pemanfaatan limbah peternakan untuk memproduksi biogas dapat mengurangi konsumsi energi komersial seperti gas dan juga kayu bakar. Menjaga unsur hara tanah dengan menggunakan pupuk organik pada proses budidaya tanaman solusi mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan oleh limbah peternakan. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pemahaman kepada mitra tentang pemanfaatan limbah peternakan menjadi biogas dan pupuk organik, membangun tiga unit instalasi biogas skala rumah tangga dan satu unit skala komunal, mengurangi volume limbah peternakan minimal 50% yang dibuang langsung kelingkungan. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan metode partisipatif melalui penyuluhan (ceramah dan diskusi), pelatihan dan praktek/demonstrasi. Kegiatan dilakukan di kelompok tani ternak Mugi Lestari pada Bulan April – Oktober 2023. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa 100% mitra mengerti dan mampu membuat digester biogas dan pupuk organik dari limbah peternakan. Diperoleh 1 unit digester komunal tipe kubah dan 3 unit digester skala rumah tangga untuk memproduksi biogas dan pupuk organik. Aplikasi teknologi biogas mampu mengurangi 60% limbah yang terbuang langsung kelingkungan, menghemat biaya kebutuhan bahan bakar gas, pupuk organik dapat diaplikasikan pada budidaya pertanian dan lingkungan semakin terjaga kebersihannya.

Abstract

The lack of awareness among some people regarding environmental sustainability causes environmental damage. Efforts made to build public awareness of environmental sustainability can be done through an educational process. Schools as formal educational institutions have an important role in providing awareness to students to care about the environment. The aims of this research are (1) to examine the implementation of environmentally caring character education at SMA Negeri 1 Sukorejo; (2) analyze efforts to strengthen environmental care character education at SMA Negeri 1 Sukorejo. This research uses a qualitative case study method. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and documentation. Test the validity of the data using the Triangulation model. Data analysis uses data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results show that (1) the implementation of environmental care character education at SMA Negeri 1 Sukorejo was carried out through the Adiwiyata program by applying the concepts of exemplary and integration. The implementation of environmental care character education at SMA Negeri 1 Sukorejo is included in school management. The implementation strategy is carried out through routine activities, spontaneous activities, example and conditioning; (2) Efforts to strengthen character education that cares about the environment at SMA Negeri 1 Sukorejo are carried out through school activities (intracurricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular) and school culture.
