Abstract

Currently, the government is increasingly building PLTMG to fulfill the electricity needs of the society. Beside for fulfill the electricity needs of the Indonesian people, PLTMG also has a negative impact on the society, especially for the community around the PLTMG in the city of Batam. So companies need to conduct studies on environmental impacts, one of which is the impact of the air produced on the surrounding area. The PLTMG industry does not use air pollution control devices, but uses a leanox combustion control system on each gas engine with a chimney outlet that emits SO2 and particulate emissions. The model simulation was carried out using Aermod view software with meteorological data from the affected locations. The results of AERMOD modeling show that the PLTMG industry will have an impact on particulate emissions in the ambient air around the activity location which will spread to the northwest, north, south and east of the activity location. The Aermod Model also shows that current conditions have resulted in dispersion with concentrations below the maximum limit stated in the 2021 Government Regulation. The addition of an emission monitoring system such as CEMS can be used to help monitor the concentration of dispersed emissions. Apart from that, emission control devices such as incinerators or combustion can also be used to reduce the concentration of the emissions used.

Abstract

Using a descriptive method with a triangulation approach including observation, document analysis, and interviews this study ensures data reliability. Daily monitoring is conducted on wastewater flow and pH levels, while monthly laboratory analysis covers eight key parameters: Total Suspended Solids (TSS), iron (Fe), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), total chromium (Cr), phosphate (PO³), oil and grease, and pH to evaluate the perfomance of the treatment system. The treatment process begins with the inflow of 960 m³ of wastewater per day into the storage pond, where aeration is applied to ensure homogenization before being transferred to the neutralization unit. pH adjustment is carried out by adding NaOH or HCl before the wastewater undergoes coagulation and flocculation stages. The study’s findings indicate that the WWTP meets the environmental quality standards established in accordance with the Decree of the Head of the Investment Coordinating Board of the Republic of Indonesia (2020), Number SK.214/1/KLHK/2020 concerning the Permit for Wastewater Disposal into the Sea on Behalf of PT Pembangkit Jawa Bali Unit Pembangkitan Gresik. This study emphasizes the importance of systematic monitoring and treatment in wastewater management.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the performance of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at PT PLN Nusantara Power Unit Pembangkitan Gresik in reducing pollutant loads from domestic wastewater. The evaluation involves analyzing water quality parameters including pH, BOD, COD, TSS, oil and grease, total ammonia, and total coliform at both inlet and outlet of the STP. Additionally, the actual daily discharge was observed and compared to the design capacity to assess operational efficiency. The method used was descriptive qualitative, involving field observation, documentation, and laboratory test data analysis during the January–March 2025 period. The results show that all outlet parameters met the effluent standards set by Regulation No. 68/2016 of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. However, the actual flow rate, which is only 1.6–3.3% of the design capacity, indicates potential inefficiencies in energy use and biological processes. Therefore, operational adjustments and optimization of STP capacity utilization are necessary for more efficient and sustainable system performance.

Abstract

Indonesia's energy demand continues to increase, but energy fulfillment still relies on coal, which has a negative impact on the environment. Seeing the potential of biomass as fuel, this study is intended to analyze the potential use of soybean dregs from soy sauce factories and sugarcane bagasse as fuel and to evaluate the characteristics of biomass briquettes according to the composition and particle size of the materials. Sugarcane bagasse and soy sauce bagasse were varied with a ratio of 63%:27%, 45%:45%, and 27%:63%, respectively with a mixture of 10% adhesive from cassava flour and molasses. The mesh size was chosen at 80 (177 μm) and 150 (99 μm) to compare the effect of particles <100 μm and >100 μm. Briquettes with characteristics that meet almost all aspect standards are briquettes with a composition of 27% soy sauce dregs and 63% sugarcane dregs with a mesh size of 150. The results of the water content are 4.20%, ash content 7.46%, volatile matter content 23.73%, and calorific value 5948 calories/gram. However, the results of the CO emission test in the early minutes of combustion (1287 ppm) did not meet the quality standard. This study proves that soy sauce dregs and sugarcane dregs waste can be an  environmentally friendly alternative fuel with further emission control.

Abstract

Puspa Lebo is sheltered by the Technical Implementation Unit for the Development of Agribusiness for Food Crops and Horticulture (UPT. PATPH) in East Java, which is engaged in agriculture and plantations which have not yet stepped forward in processing the waste produced. Harvest nursery activities are in the form of waste production, nagging, stems, fruit or vegetables that do not qualify for quality and post-harvest waste and are only carried out until incomplete combustion. The processing carried out can produce direct or indirect negative impacts on the environment such as air pollution, air pollution, and disruption of life in the environment. The largest organic waste produced from the cultivation of melon plants which has a volume of 4,860 kg/harvest for the last 3 months and coconut shell waste from the business activities of the surrounding community is 100 shells/day. Based on this, it is necessary to process organic waste and use it as an ecoenzyme and organic fertilizer, which has more value for UPT. PATPH. There are factors that affect plant growth, namely sunlight, humidity, temperature, incoming air, soil pH. Coconut shell organic waste has the potential to be used as a planting medium for cocopeat and coconut charcoal that can be used for personal use or as a result of Puspa Lebo partners. The manufacture and application of liquid organic fertilizers and ecoenzymes are considered effective on liquid organic fertilizers made from noni and guava fruit.

Abstract

The increase in the amount of waste coupled with the lack of waste management facilities, as well as the lack of knowledge and public awareness in managing waste causes the accumulation of waste to have an impact on environmental pollution. In the Kesamben sub-district, Jombang, there is no waste management facility, so people choose to do open burning, throw garbage on the side of the road, and even throw garbage directly into the river. From these problems, a TPS 3R was planned in Kesamben District. In planning the TPS 3R, population data and population projections, waste generation data, waste composition, waste generation projections and local area HSPK are required. Data collection on waste generation and composition was carried out by sampling at residents' homes. The results of the sampling obtained the weight of waste generation of 0.1393 kg/person/day with a waste volume of 0.0022 m3/person/day. The composition of the waste consists of organic waste, plastic, paper, cloth/textile, glass, Styrofoam, and diapers. With the percentage of waste composition, respectively, namely 64.55%; 19.7%; 8.49%; 1.71%; 0.41%; 0.75%; and 4.38%. From this data, a TPS 3R building is planned which can process waste up to a volume of 164.55 m3/day. Consists of a reception room, sorting room, inorganic waste storage room, plastic waste processing unit, organic waste processing unit, liquid organic fertilizer storage room, residual waste storage room, and supporting facilities. From the planning that has been done, it takes a budget plan of Rp2.052.524.176,35.
