Abstract

The use of solar tracking systems has become vital and has established itself as a vital element in the generation of solar energy by enhancing the collection efficiency. This paper seeks to understand the necessity of shifting from conventional energy sources and why issues like scarcity of fossil fuel, and pollution are some of the hurdles toward achieving sustainable energy. Solar power, in particular, is one of the lights at the end of this tunnel since it pioneers a shift towards the usage of clean energy in the world. The subject of interests of the study is on how tracking systems help in maximizing energy collection from solar systems by interchanging it with the movement of sun’s path. It discusses the method that was followed, which involves selecting component, designing circuit and developing software together with presenting empirical data that was obtained from a three-day, Twenty-four-hour experiment. Outcomes show that there is an improvement on voltage stability, the level of solar irradiation and temperature regulation when the system is applied as compared to static system and its applicability for the enhancement of the renewable energy harnessing methods by using the solar tracking technology. Finally, it outlines the future research directions to continue exploring the proposed methods and its wider impact on renewable energy generation.

Abstract

In this study, we investigate the efficacy of the newly developed Weevil Damage Optimization Algorithm (WDOA) for addressing harmonic distortion in multilevel inverters. Specifically, harmonics of the fifth and seventh orders are targeted for elimination in a seven-level cascaded multilevel inverter, while harmonics of the fifth, seventh, eleventh, and thirteenth orders are addressed in an eleven-level cascaded multilevel inverter. Through simulation studies encompassing different modulation index values, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the WDOA optimization algorithm in selectively removing harmonics and reducing overall harmonic distortion. While the results showcase promising outcomes, further quantitative metrics and comparative analysis are warranted to fully evaluate the algorithm's performance and its potential implications for practical applications in multilevel inverter systems.

Abstract

This paper suggests a way of fixing problems of voltage fluctuations and peak overshoot in a PV-connected Zeta converter system. The Zeta converter in the proposed approach is controlled using proportional integral derivative (PID) while a genetic algorithm (GA) calculates the PID coefficients based on the control mechanism. The performance of the designed system was analyzed in a MATLAB/Simulink environment. The analysis showed that the proposed system reduced the output voltage ripple and peak overshoot during transient conditions by providing feedback to the converter through the PID controller, this is a significant improvement when compared to the results found without a PID controller.

Abstract

Quadcopter technology has developed fast because it’s flexibility and capacity for high maneuvers. What makes PMSM suitable for Quadcopter is their high power to weight ratio, reliability and efficiency. These motors allow the operation of torque and speed control which are important for stability and maneuverability in the flight of the aircraft. Nevertheless, certain and smooth flight caused by regulation of PMSM speed and current is necessary for stable and maneuverable movement. This work presents a new control strategy connecting the ILQR control to govern the speed while the PCC profit the dynamic response and control torque ripples. A comparison is made on the performance of the ILQR-PCC system with nominal Proportional-Integral (PI) control and ILQR.  From the results it is evident that the ILQR-PCC system is far superior to both the PI ILQR controller in regards to the dynamic response, the disturbances rejection capacity as well as reducing the current signal distortions hence reducing the torque ripples. Its working was evidenced in a nonlinear LQR-controlled quadcopter to track the reference accurately and to have minimum distortion in current regulation. The presented work improves the control systems of quadcopters: it introduces a reliable method that improves stability and increases the performance of the quadcopter; therefore, this paper contributes to the existing knowledge.

Abstract

Total harmonic distortion (THD) is one of the most essential parameters that define the operational efficiency and power quality in electrical systems applied to solutions like cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverters (CHB-MLI). The reduction of THD is crucial due to the fact that improving the system’s power quality and minimizing the losses are key for performance improvement. The purpose of this work is to introduce a new DMO-based approach to optimize the THD of the output voltage in a three-phase nine-level CHB-MLI. The proposed DMO algorithm was also subjected to intense comparison with two benchmark optimization techniques, namely Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization with regards to three parameters, namely convergence rate, stability, and optimization accuracy. A series of MATLAB simulations were run to afford the evaluation of each algorithm under a modulation index of between 0.1 and 1.0. The outcome of the experiment amply proves that in comparison with THD minimization for the given OP, the DMO algorithm was significantly superior to both RSA-based GA and PSO algorithms in their ability to yield higher accuracy while requiring lesser computational time. Consequently, this work could expand the application of the DMO algorithm as a reliable and effective means of enhancing THD in CHB-MLIs as well as advancing the overall quality of power systems in different electrical power networks.

Abstract

Solar desalination represents a breakthrough technology for creating sustainable freshwater because it meets both the water quality standards and technology efficiency requirements of modern times. The current desalination methods, which depend on fossil fuels, encounter major obstacles regarding their energy requirements and economical performance. The research investigates the improvement of solar desalination performance through coupling Fresnel lens technology with copper-based receivers to maximize thermal characteristics and power generation benefits. This research successfully unites Fresnel lenses of high performance with copper receivers to reach increased steam temperatures alongside power production during the same procedure. The research team performed experimental tests using a system that included four large Fresnel lenses in Sharjah, UAE. Under different operating settings, the system demonstrated its performance by measuring its flow rates together with ambient temperatures and recording the steam output values. The experimental data showed that bigger Fresnel lenses boosted the steam temperature beyond 1000°C as well as pushing pressure levels to 8 bar, which led to remarkable system efficiency benefits. The copper receiver system generated 775 mA DC electric current, which collectively enhanced the system's power efficiency. The tested combination of Fresnel lenses and copper receivers demonstrates an effective way to enhance solar desalination systems, according to observed experimental data. The dualfunction technology combines desalination efficiency improvement with electricity production capabilities to establish a sustainable freshwater production method for arid regions. This investigation creates a basis for developing economical renewable desalination systems going forward.
