Abstract

Red dragon (Hylocereus polyrhizus) fruit peel as household waste was still underutilized although it was high in bioactive compounds with antioxidant and antidiabetic properties. The oil extract of freshwater fish, such as catfish (Pangasius sp.) was high in monounsaturated fatty acids with reported antihyperglycemia properties. The objectives of this study were to encapsulate catfish oil extract, determine the most liked formulation of gummy candy with dragon fruit peel extract and encapsulated fish oil beads content, and analyze the proximate content and in vitro α-amylase inhibition activity of the most liked gummy candy formulation. The methods consisted of dragon fruit peel extraction, encapsulation of catfish oil extract using sodium alginate, gummy candy formulation, sensory evaluation, and analysis of color, proximate, and α-amylase inhibition activity. Twenty five percent w/w of the gummy candy ingredients were composed of the extracts and encapsulation beads at 1:1, 1:3, and 3:1 weight ratios. Encapsulation of the fish oil could mask the fishy odor in the gummy candy. All formulation could be molded into gummy candy perfectly and showed chewy texture. The addition of dragon fruit peel extract could increase the yellowness value, while the fish oil beads decreased the lightness value of the candy. The most liked gummy candy formulation was F3 (ratio 3:1). It was composed of 54.47% water, 1.59% db ash, 5.77% db fat, 1.82% db protein, 36.36% db carbohydrates and showed 46.49% α-amylase inhibition activity.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the educational supervision system in shaping student discipline in Raudhatul Athfal (RA).  Supervision in education has an important role in improving the quality of education through evaluation and control of conditions to support the achievement of educational goals. This research examines how the supervision system is implemented in RA Al Fajr to support optimal character building and student discipline. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with the type of case study research. While the data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the research on the educational supervision system play an important role in shaping student discipline at RA Al Fajr because through good supervision, students can be directed and fostered to comply with applicable regulations. Not only that, supervision is also carried out on the curriculum that has been prepared. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research is that discipline is very important for personal development, starting from childhood. Teaching discipline involves creating a disciplined environment at home and school. Observations and interviews show the importance of discipline in students and teachers.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to increase the activeness of PAI learning using the NHT (Numbered Head Together) model. Data collection uses observation and test sheets to determine student understanding. The results of research based on initial data show that students are not interested in learning using the lecture method, whereas when using the NHT method in both cycles it shows an increase. The first cycle of research showed results of 89.16% and the second cycle showed results of 94.16%, so it was stated that this research could increase learning activity.

Abstract

Pyometra merupakan kelainan reproduksi yang umum dan penting secara klinis pada sapi multipara, dan ditandai dengan akumulasi eksudat purulen di dalam lumen uterus. Artikel ini mengkaji diagnosis dan penanganan pyometra pada sapi Friesian Holstein berusia enam tahun dari peternakan sapi perah tradisional di Lembang. Sapi tersebut, dengan riwayat aborsi pada usia kehamilan 35 hari selama melahirkan terakhir, menunjukkan keluarnya cairan vagina berlendir putih terus-menerus. Penilaian klinis melalui palpasi rektal menunjukkan uterus yang membesar, yang awalnya menunjukkan adanya kehamilan. Evaluasi diagnostik meliputi hematologi dan ultrasonografi transrektal. Hasil hematologi menunjukkan peningkatan jumlah sel darah putih, yang menunjukkan adanya infeksi bakteri. Ultrasonografi mengonfirmasi adanya nanah di dalam uterus dan penebalan dinding uterus. Penanganannya terdiri dari pembilasan uterus dan suntikan hormon untuk menginduksi kontraksi, memfasilitasi pengeluaran cairan yang terkumpul, dan memulihkan siklus estrus yang teratur. Pengurangan signifikan pada ukuran kornu uteri diamati satu minggu pasca perawatan, menunjukkan efektivitas intervensi.

Abstract

Kasus prolaps rektum pada kucing domestik dirawat di Rumah Sakit Hewan Pendidikan, Universitas Padjadjaran, Indonesia. Kucing tersebut datang dengan riwayat enam hari berupa massa kemerahan yang menonjol dari anus. Pemeriksaan fisik menunjukkan rektum yang prolaps dengan area nekrosis, selaput lendir pucat, dan turgor kulit menurun, yang sesuai dengan dehidrasi. Pemeriksaan feses menunjukkan negatif terhadap parasit gastrointestinal. Kucing tersebut didiagnosis dengan prolaps rektum lengkap dan nekrosis jaringan terkait. Perawatannya terdiri dari reduksi manual rektum yang prolaps dan pemasangan jahitan tali dompet untuk menahan rektum. Kucing tersebut menerima terapi antibiotik spektrum luas (amoksisilin (10 mg/kg) dan metronidazol (25 mg/kg) selama masa pemulihan, bersama dengan Tolfedine (4 mg/kg) untuk terapi NSAID. Jahitan tali dompet dilepas lima hari kemudian, dan tidak ada kekambuhan pada tindak lanjut satu bulan. Kasus ini menggambarkan perlunya diagnosis dini dan intervensi bedah tepat waktu dalam penanganan prolaps rektum dan untuk mencegah perkembangan menjadi nekrosis ireversibel.

Abstract

Septic arthritis is a joint inflammation caused by an infectious agent. Septic arthritis takes a long time to heal, and as such it may have a significant economic impact. A one-month-old Friesian Holstein calf was lame and had swelling in the left carpal joint. Synovial fluid samples from the left carpal joint were used for bacterial identification, which use API Strept 20 (bioMérieux, Inc – USA). The identification results showed that septic arthritis was caused by Streptococcus dysgalactiae subspecies dysgalactiae,. Streptococcus dysgalactiae subspecies dysgalactiae play a significant role even though it plays a major role in mastitis in dairy cows.

Abstract

Selada dan kubis merupakan sayuran yang rentan kerusakan akibat bakteri E. coli. E. coli mampu menyebabkan diare pada manusia jika sayuran dikonsumsi secara mentah. Aplikasi supernatan bakteri asam laktat (BAL) pada kubis dan selada menjadi salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi kedua masalah tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengevaluasi penggunaan supernatan bebas sel BAL dalam mereduksi E. coli untuk menghambat kerusakan pada sayuran segar. Supernatan TL7 dan H1 disemprotkan pada kubis dan selada;  disimpan pada suhu 25 ºC dan 10 ºC dan dilakukan pengamatan pada hari 1, 5, dan 7. Pada suhu 25 °C, selada berubah warna menjadi hijau tua, tekstur melunak, serta tumbuh kapang sedangkan kubis berubah warna menjadi kehitaman. Pada suhu 10 °C, selada dan kubis tidak berubah warna dan tekstur. Aplikasi supernatan bebas sel kedua isolat pada selada dan kubis yang disimpan pada suhu 25 °C  dan 10 °C mampu menghambat E. coli hingga penyimpanan hari ketujuh dengan kisaran 0,4 log CFU/g – 1,9 log CFU/g. Kombinasi penambahan supernatan isolat BAL dan penyimpanan pada suhu 10 °C memiliki kemampuan menghambat E. coli secara nyata hingga penyimpanan hari ketujuh dibandingkan perlakuan E. coli saja pada semua perlakuan.
