Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menyelenggarakan Pendampingan Bahasa Inggris dengan memanfaatkan media word webs untuk pengetahuan kosakata bagi guru dan siswa di MI Miftahul Ulum Kemlagi Mojokerto yang memiliki muatan kurikulum lokal dalam bahasa Inggris. Media Word Webs yang diterapkan dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini melalui gambar dan permainan. Para guru sangat menyambut baik pelatihan ini dengan harapan dapat memberikan yang terbaik bagi siswanya saat melaksanakan proses pembelajaran di kelas. The dedication to this community aims to organize English training using word webs for vocabulary knowledge for teachers and students at MI Miftahul Ulum Kemlagi Mojokerto who have a local curriculum load in English. Media Word Webs applied in this community's dedication with pictures and games. The teachers very much welcomed this training in the hope of delivering the best for the students as they conduct the learning process in the classroom.

Abstract

Bullying is an act of violence committed by an individual or group to another person so that they suffer injuries that have a very serious impact both physically and psychologically. This activity was carried out on December 14, 2023 at schools in Kemlagi Village. This activity was carried out because of the many victims in the current era which are mostly carried out by students, therefore we hold educational counseling on the impact of bullying. This activity was carried out with the aim of fostering and preventing aggressive mindsets and attitudes. This activity was attended by 30 students.

Abstract

This study was conducted in the tenth grade of Harapan Ummat High School. This study aims to determine the effect of students’ activeness in vocabulary building program toward the English vocabulary achievement of the tenth grade students at SMA Unggulan Harapan Ummat. This study used quantitative research method with Ex-post facto design. The population used in this study were 41 tenth grade students. The data collection techniques used were tests (multiple choice) and documentation. Testing the results of this study using SPSS 27 for windows. This research hypothesis test uses simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that there was an impact of student activeness in the vocabulary building program on the results of English grades at Harapan Ummat Unggulan High School with a percentage of 27% with an R-count of 0.522. These results indicate that there is a positive impact of student activeness then 73% shows other impacts that are not examined by researchers.

Abstract

In our daily lives, language plays a crucial function as a communication tool. One of the most crucial receptive abilities in language learning and instruction is reading. If you are still working on your receptive skills, it will be challenging to develop your productive skills. Finding information in a book and using it to make a decision is the process of reading. PQRST is a teaching method that has been demonstrated to improve readers' comprehension and retention of material. The text is that first-graders in senior high school should be proficient in is narrative. Put another way, a narrative text is a composition of written work whose purpose is to assist the reader in understanding the importance of the story. The research aims is to determine the effectiveness of the PQRST Method in teaching reading comprehension. This research was conducted in class X of SMA Islam Roudlotun Nasyiin, Mojokerto. This research use pre-experimental quantitative research method which is carried out in 1 class by giving pre-test and post-test. The subject of this research is 1 class with 20 students. The data collected was from pre-test and post-test. Due to the sample size being less than fifty, the Saphiro-Wilk normalcy test was utilized. There is a substantial difference, as evidenced by the T test results, which indicate that if sig. (2-tailed) < 0.05, HO is rejected and Ha is accepted.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain data on the improvement of English reading comprehension skills through the SQ4R method for third grade students of MI Miftahus Sholah Mojokerto. The research subjects were third grade students in semester II of the 2022/2023 school year. This research was conducted using the Kemmis and Mc. Taggart model which was carried out with the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results of the research using the SQ4R method showed data obtained from the reading comprehension evaluation test of students who scored ≥ 75 in cycle I 55.55% and in cycle II obtained 83.33%. While monitoring teacher and student activities in cycle I the first meeting was 55% and the second meeting was 70%, while cycle II the first meeting was 85% and the second meeting was 90%. Thus reading comprehension with the SQ4R method can improve the reading comprehension skills of grade III students of MI Miftahus Sholah Mojokerto.

Abstract

This research study aims to describe the improvement of reading comprehension skills of class VIII A students of SMPQ An-Nawawiy Mojokerto by using Collaborative Reading and Alternative Text strategies.The type of this research study was Classroom Action Research. The study subjects were students of class VIII A SMPQ An-Nawawiy Mojokerto, amounting to 34 students. This research was conducted in two cycles which in each cycle there were four components, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The object of this study was reading comprehension skills of students of class VIII A SMPQ An-Nawawiy Mojokerto. The technique of data collection included field notes, objects / observations, interviews, documentation, and tests. And the technique of data analysis was descriptive qualitative analysis technique. The results showed that the strategy of Collaborative Reading and Alternative Text can improve students reading comprehension skills of class VIII A SMPQ An-Nawawiy Mojokerto. The improvement of students’ reading comprehension skill was based on product quality and process quality. The quality improvement of the learning process can be seen from students that become more active, enthusiastic, and students were also always working with other friends while solving problems to be done in groups. Improved process ultimately has a positive impact on product quality improvement. The improvement of product quality learners were seen from student learning outcomes. Based on the results of pre-action testing conducted, students' reading comprehension ability obtained an average of 64. After being given action in cycle I, the average score of students reading comprehension ability become 68.88. It increases 4.10 points. Then in cycle II, the average score becomes 81.91. These results indicate that this research can be said to be successful because the average value of students' reading comprehension ability increases compared with pre-action values.

Abstract

Penguasaan Bahasa Inggris dasar merupakan kebutuhan esensial di era globalisasi, namun seringkali terhambat oleh keterbatasan akses dan heterogenitas tingkat kemampuan di wilayah pedesaan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan dan mengukur efektivitas Pendekatan Multi-Level Teaching (MLT) dalam pendampingan belajar Basic English bagi 17 anak usia sekolah (TK-SMP) di Dusun Gayam, Desa Gayam, Kecamatan Bangsal, Kabupaten Mojokerto. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR) yang dimodifikasi menjadi model PAOR, di mana peserta dibagi menjadi tiga level belajar (TK: Basic/Visual; SD: Intermediate/Contextual; SMP: Advanced/Communicative). Teknik pengajaran diferensiasi utama yang diterapkan mencakup Games and Songs, Flashcards, dan Drilling.Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa Pendekatan MLT efektif dalam mengatasi tantangan utama peserta, yaitu sulit fokus (TK) dan kurang percaya diri/takut berbicara (SD/SMP). Secara kuantitatif, pengukuran pre-post test menunjukkan rata-rata Learning Gain sebesar 25.3% pada kelompok SD dan SMP dalam penguasaan kosakata fungsional. Secara kualitatif, terjadi peningkatan signifikan dalam motivasi dan kolaborasi (peer tutoring) antar jenjang usia. Keunggulan program ini terletak pada efisiensinya dalam melayani kelompok heterogen dan menciptakan luaran sosial berupa peer tutoring yang berkelanjutan. Namun, terdapat kelemahan pada target materi menulis SMP karena kendala keterbatasan kosakata dasar yang memerlukan drilling lebih intensif. Direkomendasikan pembentukan Modul Basic English Adaptif Lokal dan pengaktifan English Corner yang dikelola peer tutor sebagai upaya hilirisasi dan keberlanjutan program.
