Abstract

Chitosan oligosaccharides (COS) have been introduced as marine-derived biomaterials with potential health benefits and good water solubility properties. This study presents an overview of the promising nanomaterial platform for biomedical and pharmaceutical applications of COS. The health benefits of COS, primarily their antioxidant and protective effects, anti-inflammatory activity, antidiabetic properties, and cholesterol-lowering effects are discussed. Furthermore, the promising recent articles on specific topics such as drug delivery systems and nanobiomaterials, are highlighted

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Diabetes, Edukasi, Pondok Pesantren, Santri, Status Gizi ABSTRACT This community service activity aimed to conduct health screenings (nutritional status and diabetes risk) and enhance health knowledge among santri (students) at Sirajussa'adah Islamic Boarding School in Limo, Depok City. The methodology included anthropometric measurements to determine nutritional status and random blood glucose (RBG) level checks. Following the screening, an interactive education session was provided, focusing on Diabetes Mellitus (DM). Education is provided through lecture techniques and the provision of pocket books. The screening results provided initial data on the health profile of the santri. The education intervention, measured using pre- and post-tests, demonstrated a significant increase in knowledge (p<.001), with the average score rising from 44.67 to 75.46. The activity concluded with the donation of height and weight measurement tools to support sustainable and independent health monitoring within the boarding school. Keywords: Diabetes, Education, Islamic Boarding School, Students, Nutritional Status

Abstract

This study explored the proliferative and chondrogenic differentiation capacities of nanofiber containing silk fibroin hybrid Bombyx mori silkworm cocoons (Japan-China SP-01 variant from Indonesia) and PHA P(3HB-co-3HHx) on human adipose mesenchymal stem cells. First, the scaffolds were prepared for electrospinning by combining two distinct biomaterials, consisting of silk fibroin derived from hybrid Bombyx mori silkworm cocoons, with a combination of 3-hydroxybutyrate (3HB) and 3-hydroxyhexanoate (3HHx). The effects of various ratios of P(3HB-co-3HHx)/Silk Fibroin nanofiber mixture on proliferative and differentiation capacity were then investigated. Following that, the morphology, chemical compositions, contact angle, tensile strength, roughness, cell viability, and human adipose mesenchymal stem cell differentiation of the nanofiber were investigated by collagen type 2 gene expression. The results of scanning electron microscopy showed the mean diameter of the nanofiber ranged from 370-600  nm. Following that, 16,000 volts was prominent for nanofiber manufacture in all ratios. It was also demonstrated that the nanofiber has significant mechanical properties, acceptable hydrophilicity and smoothness, and appropriate cell viability (up to 99.1% compared to the control on silk fibroin nanofiber). Although PHA increased tensile strength, silk fibroin administration to the mixture predominantly enhanced chondrogenic differentiation, as evidenced by modulation of chondrogenic collagen type 2 (up to 8.718-fold) gene markers. Furthermore, the physicochemical characteristics of the nanofiber mixture significantly influenced the proliferation and differentiation of human adipose mesenchymal stem cells. The results of the tests showed that silk fibroin administration into a nanofiber mixture has improved chondrogenesis and showed great potential as a cartilage tissue scaffold.

Abstract

Inductors have a significant influence on the volume, weight, cost, and performance efficiency of converters. In boost converters, the size of the inductor greatly affects the overall size of the converter. In recent years, there has been an increasing number of researches focusing on modeling power losses in magnetic elements and on the influence of power losses in these elements on the characteristics of electronic equipment. Boost converters often operate under non-ideal conditions, when the switch is active for a long period of time (Switch ON), conduction losses increase, high current ripple occurs, and the switch operating cycle is extreme. The magnitude of current ripple in a boost converter will greatly affect the amount of power loss generated in the inductor or MOSFET. Given this, it is important to consider the inductor's ability to overcome power losses that will affect the performance of the boost converter. This research analyzes the effect of inductor size, voltage, current, and efficiency related to the duty cycle. The purpose of this research is to find the highest efficiency by varying the diameter of the inductor wire. The diameter of the inductor wire will affect internal resistance and power dissipation, which will have an impact on the performance of the boost converter. Based on the research results obtained, a diameter of 1.5  achieved the most optimal performance with an efficiency of 69.05. Increasing the diameter of the inductor will improve its ability to store current  and reduce internal resistance, thereby overcoming the magnitude of current ripple , reducing power losses due to heat, and converting energy efficiently.
