Abstract

This study aims to study whether there was interest interested in learning explanatory text writing students. This type of research is quantitative with a 2x2 factorial design. Students are grouped into two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class in this study was in class XI IPA 1, while the control class was in XI IPA 3. The instruments used to collect data were reading interest questionnaires and performance tests for explanatory text writing skills. The results of this study are the following two things. First, explanatory text writing skills of students who have high reading interest in the experimental class are better than students who have high reading interest in the control class. Second, explanatory text writing skills of students who have low reading interest in the experimental class are better than students who have low reading interest in the control class.

Abstract

Education in the 21st Century currently requires students to be intelligent and of character. Because of the various demands that teachers must have in order to meet all current learning goals, knowledge and skills, sometimes the teacher forgets to focus on shaping student character. This is reflected in the increasing crime, violations of human rights, legal injustice, and various forms of bad behavior that are increasingly reaching all sectors of life. The teacher has an important role to overcome these problems. Based on this background, this study aims to determine teacher perceptions regarding the formation of student characters. This research is a descriptive study with a questionnaire collection technique. The instrument used was a questionnaire sheet. The questionnaire was developed via Google form and distributed online through social media whatsup on the group discussion group of English subjects in West Sumatra. The number of respondents who filled out the questionnaire was 62 teachers. The results show that for now some teachers have integrated the strengthening of student character through intracuricular, extracurricular, and non-curricular activities.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan pengaruh model Problem Based Learning dan minat baca terhadap keterampilan menulis karangan narasi siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Payakumbuh. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen. Jenis eksperimen yang digunakan adalah eksperimen semu (quasy-experimental) dengan desain factorial design (2X2). Pengambilan sampel penelitian dilakukan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X yang diambil dari dua kelas homogen. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data yaitu lembaran angket dan tes. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan empat hal sebagai berikut. Pertama, hasil tes keterampilan menulis karangan narasi siswa yang diajar menggunakan model Problem Based Learning lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang diajar menggunakan model konvensional. Kedua, hasil tes keterampilan menulis karangan narasi siswa yang mempunyai minat baca tinggi yang diajar menggunakan model Problem Based Learning lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang mempunyai minat baca tinggi yang diajar menggunakan model konvensional. Ketiga, hasil tes keterampilan menulis karangan narasi siswa yang mempunyai minat baca rendah yang diajar menggunakan model Problem Based Learning lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang mempunyai minat baca rendah yang diajar menggunakan model konvensional. Keempat, tidak terdapat interaksi antara model Problem Based Learning dengan minat baca dalam mempengaruhi keterampilan menulis karangan narasi. Kata kunci: pengaruh, Problem Based Learning, minat baca, narasi ABSTRACT This research was aims to explain the effect of Problem Based Learning Model and reading interest toward writing narrative essay in class X of SMA 4 Payakumbuh. This research was a quantitative research that used experimental method. The type of experiment used is quasy-experimental with a factorial design (2X2). The research sample was taken using purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study were students of class X who were taken from two homogeneous classes. The instruments used to collect data were questionnaire sheets and tests. Based on the results of data analysis, there were four things that can be concluded. First, the test results of students’ writing in writing narrative essay that were taught by using problem based learning model is higher than students were taught by using conventional model. Second, the students’ test results in writing narrative essay that have a high interest in reading that were taught by using problem based learning model is higher than students who have a high interest in reading were taught by using the conventional model. Third, students’ the test results in writing narrative essay of students who have low reading were taught by using problem based learning model ware higher than students who have low interest in reading were taught by using the conventional model. Fourth, there is no interaction between the Problem Based Learning Model with reading interest in influencing writing narrative essay. Abstract

The objective of this paper is to describe the phenomenon of cultural educational wisdom messages in the Minangkabau classic story, especially kaba stories contained in "Cindua Mato". It describes the existence of kaba as a literary work which contains educational wisdom among them: the message about character wisdom of the importance of education; knowledge about learning strategies, learning ethics; and character of educating children in a variety of occasions. This brief discussion is expected to be input to understand and analyze the existence of educational character wisdom in the Minangkabau classic story in the learning literature in the future. Abstract

AbstrakArtikel ini menjelaskan tentang produk pendidikan berupa modul pembelajaran menulis cerpen yang dapat digunakan sebagai alat bantu pembelajaran jarak jauh di SMP. Modul pembelajaran ini disusun dengan harapan dapat mengurangi permasalahan-permasalahan pembelajaran yang dialami oleh siswa dan guru selama pelaksanaan pembelajaran jarak jauh. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan RD yang bertujuan untuk menyusun produk pendidikan berupa modul pembelajaran. Setelah dilakukan validasi, evaluasi, dan revisi, modul pembelajaran ini dinyatakan valid, praktis, dan secara efektif dapat digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran. Modul pembelajaran ini dirancang untuk menumbuhkan kemandirian siswa dalam belajar sehingga sangat tepat digunakan sebagai alat bantu serta memudahkan proses pembelajaran jarak jauh, khususnya untuk pembelajaran menulis cerpen.Kata Kunci: Modul Pembelajaran, Cerpen, Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh AbstractThis article describes an educational product in the form of a short story writing learning module that can be used as a distance learning aid in junior high schools. This learning module is structured with the hope of reducing learning problems experienced by students and teachers during the implementation of distance learning. This research is an RD development research that aims to develop educational products in the form of learning modules. After validation, evaluation, and revision, this learning module is declared valid, practical, and effective so that it can be used in the learning process. This learning module is designed to foster students' independence in learning so that it is very appropriate to be used as a tool and facilitate the distance learning process, especially for learning to write short stories.Keywords: A Learning Module, Short Story, Distance Learning

Abstract

CONTRIBUTION OF LEARNING ATTITUDES AND LEARNING MOTIVATION TO WRITING SKILLS OF EXPOSITION DISCUSSION XI CLASS 1 BATIPUH STATE VOCATIONAL SCHOOL STUDENT Delfa leli 1, Atmazaki 2 Abdurahman 3 Indonesian Language And Literature Education Study Program Graduate program Padang State University E-mail: delfaleli03@gmail.com ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the contribution of learning attitudes and learning motivation towards Writing Skills in Exposition Essay of Class XI Students of State Vocational High School 1 in Full 2015/2016 Academic Year. This research is a type of correlational research. The population in this study were all students of class XI of SMK Country 1 Batipuh which amounted to 187 students by taking samples from members of the population obtained a sample of 65 students. The instruments of this study were questionnaires and performance tests. The results of the validity test of the student learning attitude questionnaire obtained 30 items that were declared valid from 28 items tested. The results of the reliability test obtained a value of r_11 of 0.926, it was concluded that the research instruments used were reliable / reliable. While the learning motivation of the results of the validity test of student learning motivation questionnaire obtained 35 items that were declared valid. The results of the reliability test obtained a value of r_11 of 0.973, it was concluded that the research instruments used were reliable / reliable. The technique of analyzing research data using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, multiple correlation test, t test, F test, and determinant coefficient formula. The results of this study are as follows. (1) The attitude of learning contributes to the skill of writing exposition discourse by 10.0%. (2) Motivation to learn contributes to the skill of writing exposition discourse of 14.2%. (3) Learning attitudes and learning motivation together contribute to the skill of writing exposition discourse of 20.5%, in the description of reading habits including more than adequate categories and student learning motivation including more than adequate categories. Conclusions of this study (1) Learning attitudes contribute and a significant positive relationship to exposition discourse writing skills, (2) learning motivation contributes and a significant positive relationship to exposition discourse writing skills, and (3) reading habits and learning motivation together -sama contributes and has a significant relationship to the skills of writing exposition discourse. Abstract

Konjungsi atau dikenal juga dengan kata hubung adalah kata tugas yang digunakan untuk menghubungkan kata dengan kata, frasa dengan frasa, klausa dengan klausa, kalimat dengan kalimat, dan bahkan paragraf dengan paragraf. Peneliti memilih judul penelitian ini dikarenakan karena penggunaan konjungsi dalam sebuah kalimat sangat berpengaruh terhadap makna kalimat. Penelitian ini memiliki dua tujuan, yaitu (1) mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan penggunaan konjungsi kausalitas pada teks eksplanasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Bayang dan (2) mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan penggunaan konjungsi kronologis pada teks eksplanasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Bayang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah kalimat yang mengandung konjungsi kausalitas dan konjungsi kronologis pada teks eksplanasi yang ditulis oleh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Bayang. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah teks eksplanasi yang ditulis oleh siswa kelas VIII.2 SMP Negeri 2 Bayang yang berjumlah 28 teks. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik dokumentasi. Teknik penganalisisan data dalam penelitian ini, yaitu (1) reduksi data, (2) display data (penyajian data), dan (3) penarikan kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam teks eksplanasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Bayang tersebut terdapat 72 konjungsi kausalitas yang tepat penggunaannya dan 121 konjungsi konjungsi kausalitas yang tidak tepat. Di samping itu, juga terdapat 21 konjungsi kronologis yang tepat penggunaannya dan 132 konjungsi kronologis yang tidak tepat. Kesalahan penggunaan konjungsi kausalitas dalam Teks Eksplanasi Siswa Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Bayang paling banyak ditemukan pada penggunaan konjungsi oleh karena itu. Kesalahan penggunaan konjungsi kronologis dalam Teks Eksplanasi Siswa Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Bayang paling banyak ditemukan pada penggunaan konjungsi kemudian. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa Penggunaan Konjungsi Kausalitas dan Konjungsi Kronologis pada Teks Eksplanasi Siswa Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Bayang tergolong kurang baik, karena penggunaan konjungsi kausalitas dan konjungsi kronologis tidak tepat lebih banyak dari pada penggunaan konjungsi kausalitas dan konjungsi kronologis yang tepat.
