Abstract

Multimodal discourse analysis is a new study in discourse studies to study text combined with images, colors, symbols, and other semiotic sources. The text and the semiotic resources areused to represent meaning. Therefore, a semiotic approach is used to study the implicit meaningof the text, images, and  olors used. In this study, a multimodal semiotics approach is used toexamine images, colors, and text on novel covers that reflect novel content. The images and col-ors were analyzed using Kress and Leeuwen's reading image theory, while the text as a reflec-tion of reality was analyzed using seven building task theory from James Paul Gee. This studyconcludes that in the use of colors, images, and texts contain a certain meaning that the readercan interpret in accordance with the reality presented in the text or narration.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk membandingkan dua teknik pembelajaran yang efektif digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran menulis argumentasi. Guru memerlukan teknik pembelajaran pembelajaran yang efektif dalam proses pembelajaran menulis argumentasi agar siswa lebih termotivasi dalam belajar dan hasil belajar siswa pun lebih maksimal. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan desain penelitian eksperimen untuk memperoleh data. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X4 dan X5 SMA N 14 Padang. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian ini adalah tes unjuk kerja menulis argumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar menulis argumentasi siswa yang diajar dengan teknik brainstorming adalah 79,56 dengan tingkat penguasaan 76—85% berkualifikasi baik, hasil belajar menulis argumentasi siswa yang diajar dengan teknik mind mapping adalah 80,64 dengan tingkat penguasaan 76—85% berkualifikasi baik. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar menulis argumentasi siswa yang diajar dengan teknik brainstorming dan teknik mind mapping karena thitung < ttabel yaitu 0,312 < 1,67. Dengan demikian dapat dikatakan bahwa teknik brainstorming dan teknik mind mapping sama-sama efektif digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran menulis argumentasi. This study was conducted to compare the two techniques used for effective learning in the process of learning to write arguments. Teachers require learning techniques for effective learning in the learning process to write the argument that students are more motivated to learn and student learning outcomes even more leverage. This research is a quantitative study using design experimental studies to obtain data. The sample was graders X4 and X5 SMAN 14 Padang. The instrument used to collect the data of this study is to test the performance of written arguments. The results showed that the learning outcomes of students who are taught to write arguments with brainstorming technique is 79.56 with a 76-85% level of mastery of well-qualified, learning outcomes of students who are taught to write arguments to the mind mapping technique is 80.64 with a mastery level 76-85% well qualified. Statistical analysis showed that there was no difference in learning outcomes of students who are taught to write arguments with brainstorming techniques and mind mapping techniques for tcount <ttable ie 0.312 <1.67. Therefore, can be said that the technique of brainstorming and mind mapping techniques are equally effective are used in the process of learning to write arguments.

Abstract

ABSTRAKSosiolinguistik interaksional merupakan salah satu ancangan kajian wacana yang bersandar pada ujaran nyata dalam konteks sosial berdasarkan pandangan Gumperz dan Goffman. Fokus analisisnya terletak pada interpretasi dan interaksi yang didasarkan pada hubungan makna sosial dan makna linguistik. Fokus analisis menggunakan strategi wacana bertutur untuk orang lain, meliputi: peran penutur, makna tuturan (pelurusan, tampilan sosial, tampilan identitas, dan mengambil alih peran mitra tutur. Selain itu, Konteks lokal menjadi bagian penting dari kompetensi komunikatif bagi penutur, salah satunya dalam kelompok masyarakat Minangkabau. Langgam kata menjadi pijakan dalam bertutur. Penutur sangat memperhatikan siapa mitra tuturnya untuk memilih langgam kata yang tepat digunakan dalam bertutur. Oleh karena itu, artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan wujud perilaku berkarakter dalam tuturan siswa berlatar belakang budaya Minangkabau. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan sosiolinguistik interaksional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa wujud perilaku berkarakter dalam tuturan siswa berlatar belakang budaya Minangkabau tampak dari tuturan yang disampaikan. Siswa senantiasa memperhatikan mitra tutur supaya dapat memilih langgam kata yang tepat digunakan dalam berutur. Dengan memperhatikan langgam kato nan ampek dalam bertutur akan muncullah karakter masyarakat Minangkabau yang berbicara dengan penuh nasehat, kasih sayang, dan kearifan. Selain itu, menunjukkan jiwa solidaritas, kepedulian, dan rasa tanggung jawab di dalam kehidupan.Kata Kunci: Perilaku Berkarakter, Budaya Minangkabau, Sosiolinguistik InteraksionalABSTRACTInteractional sociolinguistics is one of the approaches of discourse studies that rely on real expressions in the social context based on the views of Gumperz and Goffman. By observing the style of kato nan ampek in speaking will appear character of Minangkabau people who speak with full advice, compassion, and wisdom. Abstract

ABSTRACTEvaluation in writing is one of the efforts in improving competence in writing, in addition to planning teaching programs based on the writing process. However, evaluation in writing is not intended to improve students' understanding in writing, even writing is seen as a straightforward product, not produced through a repetitive process. Therefore, this study aims to produce a product in the form of an explanatory text writing evaluation tool based on a process approach. By using the ADDIE development model, it was designed an evaluation tool according to the writing process carried out by students in addition to paying attention to the task environment and long-term memory of students. The writing process is used as a reference in developing evaluation tools, ranging from planning, translation (developing ideas and ideas), and reviewing (evaluation and revision). Planning becomes the initial stage for students to gather ideas and generate memory by writing a writing framework in the form of a mind map. Translation is an effort to develop the writing framework into explanatory text by taking into account the linguistic structure and rules of the text. Review in the form of evaluating or evaluating the written text, then revising according to the writing criteria. The writing process that is done in stages is complemented by hard think-aloud procedures so students can asking the question to themselves to monitor writing activities. Keywords: evaluation tools, explanatory text, a process approach  ABSTRAKEvaluasi dalam menulis menjadi salah satu upaya dalam meningkatkan kompetensi dalam menulis, selain merencanakan program pengajaran yang berbasis proses dalam menulis. Akan tetapi, evaluasi dalam menulis dilakukan tidak bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman peserta didik dalam menulis, bahkan tulisan dipandang sebagai produk yang langsung jadi, bukan dihasilkan melalui proses yang berulang. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa alat evaluasi menulis teks eksplanasi berbasis pendekatan proses. Dengan menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE, dirancang alat evaluasi  sesuai proses menulis yang dilakukan peserta didik di samping memperhatikan lingkungan tugas dan memori jangka panjang peserta didik. Proses menulis yang dijadikan acuan dalam mengembangkan alat evaluasi, mulai dari perencanaan, penerjemahan (mengembangkan ide dan gagasan), dan peninjauan kembali (evaluasi dan revisi). Perencanaan menjadi tahapan awal bagi peserta didik untuk mengumpulkan gagasan dan membangkitkan memori dengan cara menulis kerangka tulisan dalam bentuk peta pikiran. Penerjemahan menjadi upaya untuk mengembangkan kerangka tulisan menjadi teks eksplanasi dengan memperhatikan struktur dan kaidah kebahasaan teks. Peninjauan kembali dalam bentuk menilai atau mengevaluasi teks yang ditulis, lalu dlakukan revisi sesuai kriteria penulisan. Proses menulis yang dilakukan secara bertahap ini dilengkapi dengan prosedur berpikir keras (think aloud) sehingga peserta didik dapat bertanya kepada dirinya sendiri untuk memantau aktivitas menulis yang dilakukan. Kata Kunci: Alat evaluasi, teks eksplanasi, pendekatan proses

Abstract

One of the factors that can affect the ability to write explanatory text is metacognitive awareness. By using the descriptive method, the students' level of metacognitive awareness was explained, and by using the correlational method the effect of metacognitive awareness towards explanatory text writing ability was explained. The results showed that as many as 25 students had a high level of awareness while 38 others had a moderate level of awareness. The relationship between metacognitive awareness variables and the ability to write explanatory text is significant and very strong seen from the range of correlation values, namely 0.812. Metacognitive awareness affects the ability to write explanatory text by 66% and the remaining 44% is influenced by other factors. This shows that metacognitive awareness has an important role in writing. Students must always increase their metacognitive awareness. Efforts that can be made to raise students' metacognitive awareness are that lecturers carry out writing learning with a cognitive process approach to increase metacognitive knowledge and apply metacognitive strategies so that students have metacognitive skills to complete writing assignments.

Abstract

Meaningful learning is assumed as one of the solutions to overcome various problems in literacy teaching. Meaningful learning is the learning arranged in accordance with the cognitive structure of the students so as to facilitate students to understand new information with the cognitive structure they have. One is the culture and environment of everyday students that are integrated into the learning process. With teachers integrating culture into the learning process means teachers have carried out culturally responsive teaching. Culturally responsive teaching is learning that uses diverse cultural characteristics, experiences, and ethnic perspectives of students as a channel for more effective teaching. One culture that can be integrated into the learning process, especially writing poetry is a game of Joli-Joli which is a game of children in the Minangkabau area. Joli-Joli games are integrated into meaningful learning steps to become meaningful models of culturally responsive teaching. In addition to enriching the vocabulary needed in writing poetry, joli-joli game also contains Minangkabau cultural values that are instrumental in the formation of student attitudes and characters.

Abstract

Abstrak:     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bahasa perempuan dalam novel Bidadari Bermata Bening karya Habiburrahman El-Shirazy. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan ancangan Analisis Wacana Kritis (AWK). Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi dokumen. Analisis data dilakukan melalui model Miles, Huberman, & Saldana. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa melalui penggunaan kosakata dan pemilihan gramatikal yang digunakan tokoh perempuan dalam novel dapat diinterpretasikan cara pandang dan ideologi tertentu dari tokoh tersebut dalam rangka mempertahankan dan memperjuangkan hak-haknya di tengah dominasi dan kekuasaan orang-orang di sekitarnya.Kata kunci: bahasa, perempuan, novel Abstract:    This study aim to describe of woman’s Language on Bidadari Bermata Bening by Habiburrahman El-Shirazy. The Approach used in this study was a qualitative approach with a Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) method. Data collection is done through document study. Data analysis was carried out through the models of Miles, Huberman, & Saldana. The results of the study show through the use of vocabulary and the grammatical choice used by woman in novels can be interpreted in certain ways and ideologies of women in order to defend and fight for their rights amid the dominance and power those around them.Keyword:   language, woman, novel

Abstract

Ungkapan kepercayaan rakyat menjadi salah satu bagian dari budaya masyarakat Minangkabau. Ungkapan kepercayaan rakyat merupakan salah satu bentuk sastra lisan yang berkembang dalam masyarakat khususnya masyarakat Kenagarian Salimpat Kecamatan Lembah Gumanti Kabupaten Solok Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Ungkapan kepercayaan rakyat disampaikan secara turun temurun dan mengandung fungsi hiburan dan edukasi. Ungkapan kepercayaan rakyat digunakan sebagai sarana pendidikan karena mengandung nilai-nilai kearifan lokal yang berguna untuk pembentukan karakter. Pilihan kata yang digunakan dalam puisi menggunakan kosakata Minangkabau dan menyiratkan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal. Oleh karena itu, makalah ini ditulis untuk mendeskripsikan pembentukan nilai karakter melalui ungkapan kepercayaan rakyat dalam masyarakat Minangkabau. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif untuk menjelaskan makna dan nilai-nilai karakter yang terdapat dalam ungkapan kepercayaan rakyat sebagai salah satu bentuk sastra lisan. Pilihan kata yang sarat dengan alam Minangkabau menjadi ciri khas ungkapan kepercayaan rakyat Minangkabau. Masyarakat dahulunya bahkan memberikan petuah dan nasihat kepada anaknya melalui ungkapan kepercayaan rakyat. Saat ini ungkapan kepercayaan rakyat yang menggunakan bahasa Minangkabau tidak lagi dikenal oleh generasi muda, bahkan beberapa kosakata yang digunakan tidak lagi dikenal. Oleh karena itu, perlu adanya pemertahanan keberadaan ungkapan kepercayaan rakyat ini sebagai bagian dari budaya masyakat Minangkabau dan sebagai upaya pembentukan karakter para generasi penerus.

Abstract

Abstract: This article aims to describe the development process of the module, validity, practicalities, and the effectiveness of CTL based learning module on the material to write short stories. This study was done to overcome the limitations of quality teaching materials in the process of learning to write short stories. This research studies the development of a 4D design that is the definition, design, development, and deployment. The subjects were students of class IX-1 SMP Negeri 2 Lembah Gumanti academic year 2013/2014, amounting to 32 people . Validity of the data obtained through the questionnaire module, the module practicalities questionnaire for teachers and students, observation of student activity sheets, and a performance test sheet to write short stories . The technique of data analysis is descriptive statistics to get a percentage of the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the learning module. The results showed that the learning module was valid in terms of content, language, presentation, and graphics. Practical in terms of ease of use and time spent. Effectively to achieve the learning objectives seen from the student activity and student learning outcomes in the form of test performance .   Kata kunci: modul pembelajaran, menulis cerpen, CTL.

Abstract

Abstract: This study describes the learning process of inner and physical structure of poetry understanding through the use of Student Team Achievement and Division (STAD) and Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) cooperative learning models. In addition to the cooperative learning models, literary reading interest is also used as a consideration in the learning process of poetry understanding. This experimental study involved 63 samples from a total of 124 people. Samples were randomly selected and assigned into two experimental groups. The experimental group I, with a total of 33 subjects, was treated with the STAD model, while the experimental group II, with a total of 30 subjects, was treated with the CIRC model. The subjects in the two experimental groups were assigned to complete a literary reading interest questionnaire. After the treatment, a poetry understanding test was given to the subjects in the two groups. A t-test was subsequently used to examine the students learning outcome, by considering their interest in literary reading. The results of data analysis showed no significant differences in the application of cooperative learning models in poetry understanding. Both students with high and low literary reading interest found the learning models helpful in improving their performance in the understanding inner and physical structure of poetry. Students with low literary reading interest were motivated in the learning process as a result of the teamwork in completing the poetry understanding tasks. Keywords: poetry understanding, cooperative learning, literary reading interest PEMAHAMAN PUISI MENGGUNAKAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF Abstrak: Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan proses pembelajaran memahami struktur batin dan struktur fisik puisi menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Student Team Achievement and Division (STAD) dan Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC). Kelompok eksperimen I dengan jumlah partisipan 33 orang diberikan perlakuan dengan model STAD dan kelompok eksperimen II dengan jumlah partisipan 30 orang diberikan perlakuan dengan model CIRC. Sampel pada kedua kelompok eksperimen diminta untuk mengisi angket minat baca sastra. Setelah diberikan perlakuan, sampel pada kedua kelompok eksperimen mengerjakan tes pilihan ganda memahami puisi. Hasil belajar kedua kelompok dengan menggunakan uji t-test dibandingkan dengan pertimbangan minat baca sastra. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dari penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif dalam proses memahami puisi. Model pembelajaran yang digunakan dapat membantu meningkatkan kinerja siswa dalam memahami struktur batin dan struktur fisik puisi, baik mahasiswa dengan minat baca sastra tinggi maupun mahasiswa dengan minat baca rendah. Mahasiswa yang memiliki minat baca sastra rendah termotivasi dalam proses pembelajaran karena adanya kerjasama tim dalam menyelesaikan tugas-tugas belajar memahami puisi. Kata Kunci: pemahaman puisi, pembelajaran kooperatif, minat baca sastra
