Indonesia grows in relation to Islamic values in daily life, because Islam is the dominant religion in this country. Based on these conditions, in education Islamic values are important to be instilled by teachers into the lesson, because they can build good character for students. This article aims at discussing teachers’ perception about the integration of Islamic values foreign language learning in Indonesian context. A descriptive study with a questionnaire collection technique was used in this research. A questionnaire sheet was developed via google form and distributed through the WhatsApp group of English subjects teacher association (MGMP) in West Sumatera. The questionnaire was responded to by 70 (seventy) teachers. The results showed that the teachers want to integrate Islamic values in teaching material. However, the teaching materials that contain it are not easy to find. Then, the teachers also perceived that integrating Islamic values into teaching learning process can build student character.

Abstract: The Ideology of Secularism in the Public Comment on the Discourse of DKI Jakarta Pilkada on Social Media. This study aims to determine the realization of secularism in the public comment text on the DKI Jakarta Pilkada news discourse on social media in terms of vocabulary and sentence structure. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach and content analysis method based on Norman Fairclough's theory of critical discourse. The results of the study show that the ideology of secularism is realized: (1) using words that are not related to religion such as the words smart, objective, rational, not, real work etc. which is associated with context; (2) active sentences, with the aim of further highlighting the actors and objects of events; and (3) passive sentences, with the aim of further highlighting the target and hiding the perpetrator. Ideology in discourse can be expressed through vocabulary choices and sentence structure in text through critical discourse analysis, both in mass media texts, and in individual texts (comments) on social media.

This research is motivated by the high learning result of santri that can be seen from the achievement of studying santri tahfidz Al-Quran at Al Hidayah Mosque of Solok City. This condition is influenced because of the discipline of students who are very good in following the teaching and learning process. The purpose of this study is to look at the discipline of santri from: 1) discipline of time, 2) discipline in obedience and obedience, 3) discipline in responsibility. The population is twenty-one persons and a sample of twenty-one people is assigned based on the sampling technique of the census. The data collecting technique uses questionnaire of data collection tool. Data analysis techniques use percentage calculations. The results showed that the discipline of santri was very good in terms of 1) time discipline, 2) discipline in obedience and compliance, 3) discipline in responsibility. In conclusion santri have a very good discipline. The discipline of the students affects the improvement of the students' learning outcomes and their learning achievement. This research advice for santri in order to improve self-discipline in daily life.Keywords: Discipline, TPA

The Mandeh area is currently one of the tourist destinations that has beautiful scenery and its own uniqueness for tourists both from within and outside the country. The Mandeh area, which has these unique qualities, if not preserved and managed properly, will become extinct in the future. In order to promote tourism in the Mandeh area, especially the Nagari Sungai Nyalo, the service team carried out service activities in Nagari Sungai Nyalo as a Literacy Village to create sustainable tourism. So far, the children of Sungai Nyalo are classified as marginalized children. The purpose of this activity is to (1) provide literacy education to children in the Nyalo River village, (2) make the Nyalo River village as one of the areas in the Mandeh area into a sustainable tourism area. The method used in this activity is the social intervention method, which can be interpreted as a way or strategy in providing assistance to the community (individuals, groups, communities) to improve one's welfare through efforts to re-enable social functions. The results of this activity are (1) increasing children's interest in reading and literacy, (2) increasing children's confidence to be able to guide tourists visiting their villages.

Education in the 21st Century currently requires students to be intelligent and of character. Because of the various demands that teachers must have in order to meet all current learning goals, knowledge and skills, sometimes the teacher forgets to focus on shaping student character. This is reflected in the increasing crime, violations of human rights, legal injustice, and various forms of bad behavior that are increasingly reaching all sectors of life. The teacher has an important role to overcome these problems. Based on this background, this study aims to determine teacher perceptions regarding the formation of student characters. This research is a descriptive study with a questionnaire collection technique. The instrument used was a questionnaire sheet. The questionnaire was developed via Google form and distributed online through social media whatsup on the group discussion group of English subjects in West Sumatra. The number of respondents who filled out the questionnaire was 62 teachers. The results show that for now some teachers have integrated the strengthening of student character through intracuricular, extracurricular, and non-curricular activities.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan prosesi dan esensi acara Mandi Bakumbo dalam pernikahan adat Melayu di Pekanbaru Provinsi Riau. Pendekatan yang digunakan untuk mengurai hasil penelitian adalah pendekatan seni, budaya dan esensi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskritif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan Observasi (dokumentasi) dan Wawancara (Interview). Teknik analisis data menggunakan model analisis data Miles dan Huberman yaitu Pengumpulan data, Reduksi data, Penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tradisi mandi bakumbo menjadi salah satu fokus kebudayaan yang keberadaannya diakui secara adat istiadat dan sebagai warisan budaya oleh masyarakat Kota Pekanbaru, selain itu tradisi ini memiliki makna dan nilai yang penting bagi masyarakat Kota Pekanbaru. Kata Kunci: esensi, mandi bakumbo, tradisi Melayu.AbstractThis study aims to describe the procession and essence of the Mandi Bakumbo event in a Malay traditional wedding in Pekanbaru, Riau Province. The approach used to parse the results of research is the approach of art, culture and essence. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection is done by Observation (documentation) and Interview (Interview). Data analysis techniques using the Miles and Huberman data analysis models, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of the study showed that the tradition of mandi bakumbo became one of the focuses of culture whose existence was recognized in customs and as a cultural heritage by the people of Pekanbaru City, in addition this tradition had significance and value for the people of Pekanbaru City. Political discourse today is no longer dependent on the performance of the political elite; however, it has shifted to active participation of their supporters. This phenomenon is widely recorded in social media as the background event. Without exception to Jakarta’s 2017 Gubernatorial Election that received an international spotlight because the roar is so massive in the universe of cyberspace. This qualitative descriptive study examined the pattern of campaign movements as a political discourse conducted by the public in supporters community account as a form of public participation in the politics of free-active democracy. It aimed to map out the pattern of discourse movements arising from the supporter community accounts of one of the candidate through the perspective of the discourse comparison offered by Sawirman (2014). The findings show that there are three supporting accounts of candidates which posited as primary, secondary and tertiary discourse. For the configuration of the discourse, gradable adjectives are used as a linguistic strategy to weaken and to dispel sympathy for opposing factions. It is based on the spirit that speakers are superior to their rivals. In general, the pattern of discourse movements identified is synergistic and mutual in order to demonstrate the superiority of their group by degrading the opposing side.

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh penggunaan bahasa oleh gubernur yang sering mendapat tanggapan positif dari masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan jenis tindak tutur dan prinsip kesantunan berbahasa yang digunakan oleh Gubernur DKI Jakarta dalam pidato covid-19 serta pemanfaatan dalam pembuatan bahan ajar bahasa Indonesia di sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan meteode deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini tuturan gubernur DKI Jakarta dalam pidato tentang covid-19. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah kanal youtube Anies Baswedan, Kompas TV, CNN Indonesia, dan CNBC Indonesia pada edisi November 2019 sampai November 2020. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian dengan mereduksi data, menyajikan data dan menarik kesimpulan dari data yang ada. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan hal sebagai berikut. Pertama, tindak tutur dalam pidato gubernur DKI tentang covid-19 yang terdiri dari tindak tutur representatif, tindak tutur direktif, tindak tutur deklarasi, dan tindak tutur ekspresif. Kedua, terdapat prinsip kesantunan berbahasa yang digunakan gubernur DKI Jakarta yang teridiri dari maksim kearifan, maksim kesepakatan, maksim pujian, maksim kerendahan hati, maksim kesimpatian, maksim kedermawanan. Ketiga, penerapan kesantunan berbahasa dalam proses pembelajaran adalah adalah dengan membuat bahan ajar yang sesuai dengan kompetensi dasar pada aspek berbicara. Kompetensi dasar yang berkaitan langsung dengan kesantunan berbahasa di tingkat sekolah dasar adalah, berpidato.

This study aims to describe the changes in the implementation of the bridal Balahak tradition in the Siulak community in Kerinci Regency, and to describe the causes of changes in the implementation of the bridal Balahak tradition in the Siulak community in Kerinci Regency. This study used a descriptive qualitative method by describing or describing the circumstances that occurred in the object under study, in this case, the change in the implementation of the bridal Balahak tradition in the Siulak community in Kerinci Regency. The results of this study were obtained by data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, literature study, and documentation. This study found that several changes occurred in the bridal Balahak tradition in the Siulak community, the factors causing the change in the Balahak tradition were the times, economy, lineage or cultural contact, and the open nature of society.
