Abstract

Horror is one of the most popular film genres, particularly among Indonesians. One of the reasons the Indonesian people love watching a horror movie is because of the sensation of a jump scare. Thus, the number of horror film watchers in Indonesia continues to grow. This condition may aid Indonesian film production, as practically everyone enjoys horror. However, it is also problematic because Indonesian film has struggled to enhance its quality. Thus, the author's objective in this study is to analyse the dilemma confronting Indonesian cinema: the trade-off between profit and quality. To assist the author in doing this analysis, Film Production Management from Bastian Cleve is applied.  The findings of this study reveal that Indonesian film production faces particular challenges that must be overcome. Indonesian cinema should prioritize quality above immediate profit as improving the quality of a film can result in a higher profit. Thus, the courage to develop and compete is critical to overcome those challenges.

Indonesia has various performing arts. One of them is Pasola, a traditional war tradition from West Sumba, NTT region. This study aims to investigate the meaning and philosophical principles underlying the Pasola tradition. The research is classified as cultural research employing qualitative descriptive techniques. According to Edward Burnett Tylor (1832-19721), culture is a complex system consisting of learned human knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, conventions, abilities, and habits. To investigate the Pasola tradition, a descriptive qualitative strategy is employed by referencing multiple literature sources and observations from interviews broadcast on social media platforms such as YouTube. Abstract

The research analyzed the growth of stand-up comedy in Indonesia, which had developed into a new trend or popular culture and a new creative business that produced skilled and well-known comics. Furthermore, it discussed how stand-up comedy might develop into a new creative business by evaluating the growth of the community, Instagram, and YouTube, as well as the growth of successful comics. In order to help the researchers doing the analysis, the researchers applied a qualitative method. They used two theories named Self-presentation concept by Goffman and Creative Industry theory by Richard Florida. The findings indicate that the creative industry does not always progress forward; interest in stand-up comedy decreased in various places, but it is still attempting to develop. Indonesian people are becoming more receptive to stand-up comedy as it is home to some of the world's most talented comics. Comics must be innovative in their approach to content creation to increase their popularity and viability. Apart from that, when comics are popular, they can inspire others to pursue careers as comics. As a result, comics members continue to grow in number, the community grows in size, and the creative business continues to flourish. Stand-up comedy has developed into popular culture and a new creative sector geared toward youth.
