Abstract

KTH Agro Sumber Rejeki is one of the forest farmer groups located in the Register 40 production forest area in South Lampung Regency. This community service in the context of diversifying non-timber forest products (NTFPs), namely citronella oil. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide knowledge, technical production skills and quality requirements for citronella massage oil and telon oil, through empowering women from KTH Agro Sumber Rejeki. The method used in this PKM activity consisting of several stages, first technical guidance for making telon citronella oil and citronella sequence oil with 3 variants: natural, lemon and rose as well as counseling on herbal medicine quality requirements The effectiveness of PKM activities is evaluated by carrying out a pretest and postest. The average postest score was 83.53, an increase of 49.41 points from the pretest score with a total score of 100. The evaluation results showed that there was an increase in knowledge and technical skills in making telon citronella oil and citronella massage oil and also understanding the quality requirements of herbal medicines in women of KTH Agro Sumber Rejeki. . Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the effect of green cincau pectin concentration as a coating for broiler eggs and the length of storage time at room temperature on egg quality. The research was carried out in May-October 2021 at the Industrial Chemistry Laboratory and Agricultural Products Technology Laboratory, Lampung State Polytechnic. The experimental design used was a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 replications (triple). The factors studied were the concentration of green cincau pectin and storage time which consisted of several levels. The parameters measured were the percentage reduction in egg weight, yolk index, and Haugh Unit. The research data obtained were analyzed by means of variance (ANOVA) at a significance level of 5% and continued with Duncan's test. The results showed that there was an interaction (p<0.05) between the concentration of green cincau pectin and storage time on the percentage decrease in egg weight, yolk index, and Haugh Unit. The concentration of green cincau pectin showed a significant effect (P<0.05) on the percentage decrease in egg weight and Haugh Unit, but it was not significantly different (P>0.05) on the yolk index, while storage time resulted in a significant effect (P<0.05) on all test parameters. Green cincau pectin concentration 30% w/w tapioca as coating broiler eggs and stored for 6 days was the best combination treatment for the percentage reduction in egg weight, yolk index, and Haugh Unit. Abstract

Biofilms are significant hazards in the food industry. The presence of Escherichia coli biofilms in food industry is potentially causing food spoilage that will shorten the shelf life as well as lead to the spread of disease through food. The purpose of this study is to determine the phytochemical compound of aqueous extract of papaya leaves and to determine its activity on inhibition of cell attachment and growth, and on degradation of the biofilm using Micro-titter Plate Biofilm Assay. The results phytochemical test showed that papaya leave extract contains alkaloid, tanin, flavonoid, and steroid and have anti-biofilm activity. Papaya leave extract with highest activity caused biofilm degradation of 48,99%. The optimum temperature of biofilm degradation (>52,5%) by papaya leaves extract was around 35oC - 40oC. The optimum contact time and extract concentration were 57-60 minutes and 75-100%, respectively.

Abstract

The Dharma Wanita Group (DWP) of the Lampung Provincial Forestry Service is a group of wives of civil servants in the Lampung Province Forestry Service which consists of ± 200 people. The purpose of forming this group is to increase the knowledge and skills of group members in supporting the husband's duties and is expected to be able to develop activities that can improve the family economy. Production forests in Lampung Province have great potential in producing non timber forest product (NTFP) commodities such as candlenut, nutmeg, coffee, citronella oil and a little patchouli oil. Currently, the NTFP commodity is only sold to collectors and markets near the production site. To increase the added value of these commodities, it requires skills and knowledge of persons engaged in the forestry sector to develop NTFP-based commercial products. Therefore, members of the DWP of the Lampung Provincial Forestry Service intend to develop practical knowledge and skills in making NTFP-based commercial products such as hand sanitizer. The purpose of this activity is to provide information on knowledge and practice of technical skills in making hand sanitizer from citronella oil, patchouli oil and clove oil. The methods used in this activities are counseling, practice and discussion. The results show that 80% of the participants understand the physical and chemical properties , as well as the benefits of citronella oil, patchouli oil, and clove oil and, can make hand sanitizer based on the three NTFP products.

Abstract

Jeruk kalamansi merupakan salah satu jenis jeruk yang memiliki kandungan vitamin C yang tinggi, dimana jeruk tersebut umumnya tidak dikonsumsi langsung karena rasanya yang sangat asam. Bahan pembentuk gel yang umum digunakan pada pembuatan permen jelly yaitu gelatin. Pada penelitian ini mencoba mensubtitusikan glukomanan konjak untuk mengurangi penggunaan gelatin yang sebagian besar terbuat dari produk turunan babi serta mencari tekstur permen jelly yang terbaik sesuai SNI. Kombinasi antara glukomanan konjak dan gelatin pada produk permen jelly menunjukkan perbedaan nyata terhadap nilai kadar air, nilai kadar abu dan juga nilai gula reduksi dengan nilai sig. < 0,05. Formula F1 merupakan formula terbaik dengan nilai kadar air 19,90 ±0,42 %, kadar abu 0,14 ± 0,002 %, dan kadar gula reduksi 2,22 ±0,04 % yang telah memenuhi syarat mutu permen jelly (SNI 3547.02-2008) serta formula F1 memiliki kandungan vitamin C yang tertinggi yaitu sebesar 17.38 %. Tekstur permen jelly dengan penambahan glukomanan konjak berkisar antara 0,67 - 0,71 kg/0.05 cm3, dimana hasil tersebut tidak berbeda nyata dengan tekstur permen jelly komersial.

Abstract

Minyak jelantah merupakan salah satu limbah cair dapur yang jumlahnya cukup banyak, sehingg dapat menyebabkan pencemaran lingkungan. Minyak jelantah sebaiknya tidak digunakan lagi karena bersifat karsinogenik. Salah satu cara penanggulangan permasalahan ini adalah dengan melakukan recycle berbasis minyak jelantah yang memiliki nilai ekonomi, salah satunya sabun batang. Pelatihan recycle  minyak jelantah pada Komunitas Ibu Bisa Lampung bertujuan untuk mengedukasi ibu rumah tangga terkait bahaya minyak jelantah bagi kesehatan serta potensinya sebagai bahan dasar produk homecare, sabun batang. Metode pengabdian yang dilakukan melalui pendekatan PAR (Participatory  Action  Research), sehingga mampu mengatasi permasalahan pada masyarakat dan memenuhi kebutuhan praktis melalui penyuluhan dan pelatihan. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi yang telah dilakukan materi kegiatan penyuluhan dan pelatihan berhasil diterima dengan baik oleh peserta. Hal ini terbukti sebanyak 80% peserta pelatihan memiliki skor ≥ 70. Dengan kata lain, komunitas Ibu Bisa Lampung tidak lagi melihat minyak jelantah sebagai sampah yang dibuang percuma, tetapi mampu diolah dan dipergunakan untuk meningkatkan ekonomi masyarakat.
