Abstract

The Mobile LMS Tel-U is an e-learning platform developed by Telkom University to support the learning process. However, it still requires more demand from Telkom University students. Usability evaluation was conducted on twelve students using the System Usability Scale (SUS), resulting in a score of 46.5. Interviews and observations revealed interface problems on the dashboard, material, grades, and quizzes. This study aims to redesign the mobile LMS Tel-U interface using the Learner-Centered Design method and incorporating a personality approach by categorizing students into introverts and extroverts. Designing based on personality groups acknowledges the differences in interface design preferences and the relationship between personality and e-learning interface design. This approach yields two different interface designs, one for introverted students and one for extroverted students. The LCD method determines student needs in supporting the learning process. The redesigned interface's usability was evaluated using SUS to assess its appropriateness for students' learning needs. The study shows an average increase in usability scores of 80.4. The introverted student group achieved a usability score of 81, while the extroverted student group obtained a score of 80. Thus, the LCD method and personality approach effectively enhance the usability of distance learning applications (e-learning).

Abstract

Ash-Shidiq Foundation recently established the Integrated Islamic Middle School (SMP IT). Currently, the school manages academic data manually, either on paper or through spreadsheet applications. Recognizing an opportunity, the Telkom University Software Engineering Expertise Group decided to provide community service by implementing a web-based academic information system for the school. This system is hosted on a server accessible via the Internet, enabling staff, teachers, and students to access it. It aims to simplify academic data reporting for school managers. The entire community service project, from initial observation to system installation, training, video documentation, and final report preparation, spanned approximately six months. Training sessions were conducted in a classroom setting for school principals, staff, and teachers. Feedback from this community service activity showed that 25% strongly agreed, 37.5% agreed, and 37.5% were neutral regarding the suitability of the training material to partners' needs. Regarding the presentation of material, 75% strongly agreed, 25% agreed, and 50% were neutral, with 37.5% in agreement and 12.5% in disagreement about the usefulness of the technology offered.

Abstract

This study was carried out on the Human Centric Engineering (HUMIC) website, which had not previously undergone redesign approaches such as User-Centered Design (UCD), Goal-Directed Design (GDD), or similar methods. Following the initial usability assessment utilizing the Single Ease Question (SEQ) encompassing 7 tasks to gauge the simplicity or complexity of the tested activities, along with the System Usability Scale (SUS) containing 10 queries for evaluating usability, the interim average SEQ score achieved was 5.5 out of 7. Meanwhile, the average SUS score was 43, falling below the typical score of 68. Based on the interview results with HUMIC website users, it was found that users felt uncomfortable when accessing the website due to a non-responsive user interface on smartphone screens, indicating the need for a redesign of the website's user interface. This article’s aims are to enhance HUMIC website’s user interface for better usability using the UCD approach, encompassing user engagement throughout the entire procedure. Following the redesign of the user interface, the ultimate test outcomes exhibited an average SEQ score of 6.4 out of 7 and an average SUS score of 80.5, surpassing the typical score of 68. Consequently, it can be inferred that the application of the UCD method led to a successful user interface redesign with enhanced usability, fostering a comfortable user experience when navigating the HUMIC website.

Abstract

Baduy is one of the ecotourism destinations which offers captivating natural and cultural attractions, making it a worthy place to visit. The lack of available information in the media has piqued the author's interest in designing a visually appealing website to attract tourists. To address this issue, a user interface design will be created for the Baduy Tribe Ecotourism website using the User Centered Design (UCD) method. This method focuses on users and involves four stages, specifying the context of use, specifying requirements, designing a solution, and evaluating the design. Furthermore, to assess how well users interact with a product, usability testing will be conducted using the System Usability Scale (SUS) and Single Ease Question (SEQ). The usability testing results on the created website interface obtained a SUS score of 81 and generated 3 rating components in the SEQ method, fairly easy, easy, and very easy. Therefore, it can be concluded that the usability score falls within the category of good and is acceptable to users. Through this research, the author hopes that the user interface design for the Baduy Tribe Ecotourism website will meet users' needs, providing them with easy access to valid information and a seamless experience in discovering the natural wonders of the region.

Utilization of Information Technology (IT) in companies today is an important element to support the effectiveness & efficiency of business processes. This research set PT ABC as a case study place. The IT Asset Division of the Company has never conducted a security risk analysis on its IT assets. In helping companies to determine the level of information security of their IT assets, an analysis of the information security risks of these assets will be carried out. This study uses the OCTAVE Allegro method in analyzing the company's IT assets. OCTAVE Allegro consists of eight stages and is grouped into four phases. The research resulted in 5 risks from 7 IT assets which were analyzed and made into a Risk Register document. Furthermore, the researcher recommends ISO 27002:2014 control of the IT asset risk as a mitigation measure

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of refactoring from a monolithic to a microservices architecture on application response time. Monolithic architecture, initially chosen for ease of development, faces scalability challenges as the application grows. Microservices offer a solution by enabling independent service deployment and enhanced scalability. This research uses Meta-Data Aided (MDA) and Static Code Analysis (SCA) methodologies to facilitate the refactoring process, applying them to the inventory-application project from a collaborative software development platform (GitHub). The refactoring involves decomposing the monolithic application, containerizing it with Docker, and evaluating performance using JMeter. Results show that microservices significantly reduce response time, particularly in API interaction tasks. While microservices improve scalability and flexibility, they require careful management of service communication. This research enhances understanding of the benefits of microservices in terms of response time and offers practical guidance for developers considering refactoring.

Abstract

Kegiatan pelatihan yang diselenggarakan di Kelompok Pendidikan Terpadu Telkom Makassar ini adalah program pengabdian pada masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk membantu pihak pengelola pendidikan Telkom Schools dalam memanfaatkan penggunaan WhatsApp (WA) sebagai sarana penyebaran informasi kepada sivitas akademika yg didapatkan melalui assesstment awal permasalahan mitra dalam mendiseminasikan informasi. Dengan menggunakan aplikasi penyebaran informasi melalui WA ini, diharapkan informasi-informasi penting dan sifatnya dinamis dapat sampai dalam waktu yang singkat dan efektif kepada orang tua siswa maupun siswa. Selain melalui aplikasi, aplikasi ini dilengkapi dengan Application Programming Interface (API) sehingga memungkinkan pengiriman informasi dapat diintegrasikan dengan aplikasi-aplikasi yang lain seperti Sistem Informasi Akademik maupun Sistem Informasi Perpustakaan. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini membutuhkan waktu lebih kurang enam bulan, yang meliputi observasi dan diskusi awal, pembuatan aplikasi, pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi, pembuatan video dokumentasi, serta pembuatan laporan akhir. Pelatihan diberikan kepada kepala sekolah maupun admin masing-masing sekolah melalui aplikasi zoom. Hasil dari pengabdian masyarakat ini diperoleh feedback pelaksanaan pelatihan yaitu sebesar 60% setuju dan 40% sangat setuju bahwa materi yang disampaikan sesuai dengan kebutuhan mitra. Selain itu sebesar 53.33% setuju dan 46.67% sangat setuju bahwa teknologi yang ditawarkan sangat bermaanfaat. Abstract

PT. Prima Pangan Madani adalah sebuah perusahaan yang berbasis di Indonesia dengan sektor perikanan. Untuk menjalankan proses bisnisnya, diperlukan sistem informasi yang relevan dengan proses bisnis yang belum dimiliki oleh PT. Prima Pangan Madani. Perencanaan sistem informasi untuk PT. Prima Pangan Madani menggunakan The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) Architecture Development Method (ADM). TOGAF ADM sangat memperhatikan seluruh elemen perusahaan dan selalu up to date mengikuti perkembangan zaman. Dengan TOGAF ADM hasil dari perencanaan strategis pada PT. Prima Pangan Madani menghasilkan blue print yang siap dipakai untuk keperluan PT. Prima Pangan Madani. Hasil dari perencanaan ini mendapatkan nilai berdasarkan pengujian menggunakan EA Scorecard yang meningkat sebesar 46,07%.
