Abstract

Developing professional madrasa teachers are increasingly popular in the classroom, but of these teachers, mixed results (without clear reasons) are reported. This article addresses the impact of gender and teaching experience (duration) on developing professional madrasa teachers, using the two factors as references. Research with a questionnaire was conducted in 75 public and private Aliyah Madrasas, with data collected from 325 teachers. Data analysis is differentiated based on madrasa teachers’ type (public or private), gender, and teaching experience in the competencies assessed. Results showed that developing professional teachers’ proficiency is low and related to gender, that males perceive themselves more highly developed professionally than females, and that even teaching experience does not necessarily ensure development of professional competence and implementation in the classroom. The development of professional madrasa teachers with more than 30 years’ experience is less proficient than that of teachers with experience from 21–30, 10–20, and <10 years. However, the significant relationship between gender and professional development of madrasa teachers who have taught for more than 30 years is revealed: the development of male madrasa teachers who have taught for more than 30 years is less proficient than that of females. Reasons behind this difference must be examined and competencies differentiated to improve development of professional madrasa teachers’ professionalism.

Abstract

The integration of religion and science is a very good discourse, because it seeks to connect religion and science, which has been considered something that cannot be sought relations. Religion and science are not separated, but a relationship must be sought between the two. Religion and science are actually two things that have the same entity. The proof, many things researched by science, are in line with what religion confirms. In fact, long before the existence of such research, religion had already explained it in the scriptures. Therefore, religion and science are two things that are interconnected with each other. Religion needs science, and science also needs religion. Abdussalam grew up in two different and opposite lives. On the one hand, he became a very religiously devout man and found justification in the Qur'an that always inspired the rationale of his scientific work. In relation to the integration of religion and science, what is needed for Islamic education today is an education system called Interdiscipline Sciences in Islam. With the new education system where the curriculum taught is a complete union between the value of revelation and science. So it is hoped that alumni of Islamic educational institutions will be able to describe the methods of science and religion in the form of ways of thinking and behavior (akhlaq) in an integrated and comprehensive (holistic) manner in society so that in the future a better community order will be created.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of spiritual intelligence on students’ social intelligence and its implications for strengthening character education at the junior high school level. The background of this research is based on the importance of integrating spiritual and social dimensions in shaping students’ prosocial behavior, empathy, responsibility, and integrity amid moral challenges and rapid social change. This study employed a quantitative approach using a correlational survey design. The sample consisted of junior high school students selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires measuring spiritual intelligence and social intelligence, and were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The findings indicate that spiritual intelligence has a positive and significant effect on students’ social intelligence. Higher levels of spiritual intelligence are associated with better interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to build harmonious social relationships. These results confirm that strengthening spiritual values within the educational process contributes significantly to the development of mature social character. This study recommends integrating spiritual intelligence development programs into the curriculum as a systematic strategy to support sustainable character education.

Abstract

The sharp dichotomy between religious knowledge and science in the modern education system has triggered a significant epistemological crisis and moral degradation among Muslims. This study aims to explore and analyze Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi's thoughts on the integration of religion and science through the concept of the Islamization of knowledge, and its relevance in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning. By applying a qualitative approach based on library research methods, this study examines in depth Al-Faruqi's fundamental works along with contemporary interpretations of his ideas. The research findings show that Al-Faruqi made the principle of monotheism the absolute epistemological foundation for reuniting revelation and reason, while simultaneously rejecting secularism that separates the two. Through the formulation of twelve steps of the Islamization of knowledge, he attempted to reconstruct the structure of modern science to align with Islamic values for the sake of achieving the welfare of the people and spiritual balance. In its implementation in PAI learning, this concept is applied by harmoniously integrating naqli arguments and scientific phenomena, so that science is understood as a manifestation of God's power. The main conclusion emphasizes that internalizing this integrative paradigm is very urgent to produce a complete generation of Muslims, namely individuals who have high intellectual intelligence as well as strong faith and morals in facing global challenges.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to analyse Syed Muhammad Naquib al Attas epistemological framework on the integration of religion and science and to formulate its application within Islamic Religious Education in contemporary learning contexts in order to address knowledge fragmentation and support deep and meaningful learning. Methodology: This study uses a qualitative library research method. The data sources include primary works by Syed Muhammad Naquib al Attas, international peer reviewed journal articles, and selected IEEE indexed conference proceedings. Qualitative content analysis was employed, supported by Mendeley reference management software and document analysis techniques. Main Findings: This study identifies four core epistemological concepts in al Attas framework, namely human nature, knowledge, reason, and nature, grounded in a tawhid based worldview and guided by adab. Based on these concepts, a four component instructional model for Islamic Religious Education was formulated to support conceptual coherence and deep learning. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study introduces an operational instructional model that translates al Attas epistemological ideas into practical guidance for Islamic Religious Education. It advances existing scholarship by bridging classical Islamic epistemology with contemporary deep learning principles, offering a structured framework that addresses knowledge fragmentation and strengthens meaning oriented learning.
