Abstract

School space plays an essential role in creating a pleasurable learning atmosphere. The tendency of everyone to choose a school space also varies. By knowing this trend pattern, schools can be designed to improve student learning effectiveness. The purpose of this study was to find out which school spaces students choose to study, what kind of room criteria are needed, and distribution patterns of students' preference choices. This research used both the qualitative exploratory and quantitative methods using an open-ended question questionnaire for data collection. Data analysis techniques used qualitative analysis methods consisting of open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The results showed that the library, mosque, and multimedia laboratory were the most preferred space for students to study at school. Some factors that influence the selection include thermal comfort, completeness of supporting facilities, and acoustic comfort.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the factors that influence student learning comfort in the classroom and its distribution. This explorative study employed 772 students who were elementary school, junior high school, and senior high school students in several Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta schools. Data collection techniques using open questionnaires. The data analysis technique uses qualitative analysis which consists of three stages: open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The results showed that the factors that influence learning comfort of students in the classroom include: air circulation, quietness, cleanliness, adequate & supportive facilities, and peer attendance. These five factors are among other factors that are grouped into two: 1) factors originating from the physical environment (of building & site themes and of indoor space themes); and 2) factors from within its occupants (of human themes). The theme that shows the highest influence comes from the physical conditions in the classroom, that is indoor space themes.

Abstract

The curriculum is the heart of education, whose job determines the life or death of a school. This study aimed to compare the implementation of Adiwiyata school curriculum between public and private school in junior high schools, especially in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Data collection techniques by means of literature studies. Data analysis techniques were carried out with qualitative comparative analysis. The results showed that: public and private schools in junior high schools in Bantul Regency, had fulfilled the four main components of the Adiwiyata curriculum, in terms of objectives, content, methods, and evaluation. The implementation of Adiwiyata curriculum in each public and private school varies according to the characteristics and potential of each school.

Abstract

Character education is an educational concept to form and foster a Muslim personality as a whole (syumuliyah). This literature study aimed to determine the implementation of character education and supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of character education in formal schools in Indonesia. Data analysis techniques by means of data reduction, data display, and conclusion. Based on research findings, the trend of implementing character education in Indonesian formal schools has the same spirit in the content of character education. In formal schools with the status of public schools, the implementation of character education follows government regulations as stated in the Strengthening of Character Education (SCE), which is an implication of Islamic teachings. As for formal schools with private status on an Islamic basis, character education tends to be oriented towards cultivating akhlakul karimah (moral education) combined with government regulations. The implications of this research lead to the cultivation of character values that are embedded in social attitudes and spiritual attitudes as provisions for students' daily lives. The supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of character education are also discussed.

Abstract

The school autonomy is authority of schools without any intervention from other parties, ranging from management to curriculum, facilities and infrastructure, financing, implementation of teaching and learning process, teachers and staffs, and assessment. Thus, school is able to innovate in developing school branding, making it a top choice for the community. This study aimed to assesses school autonomy level, especially in Muhammadiyah schools. This survey using LCBT evaluation instrument model. The subject is Muhammadiyah Junior High School in Sleman Region, include: 254 person consist of 4 principals, 115 teachers and staffs, and 135 students grade 8 and 9. Data collecting technique using questionnaires, interview, and documentation. Data analysis using qualitative and quantitative descriptive technique. The results of study showed that SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gamping has an autonomy score of 365.30 with strong category; SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Minggir has an autonomy score of 394.58 with very strong category; SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Kalasan has an autonomy score of 354.56 with strong category; and SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Depok has an autonomy score of 364.66 with strong category. Finally, it can be concluded that all of school are autonomy as can be realized with the branding of each school, outstanding achievements, school culture that has been ingrained in the heart all of school community, and high public interest.

Abstract

Persoalan selama pembelajaran kerap kali terjadi. Sebagaimana yang terjadi saat pembelajaran di SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Yogyakarta, siswa kurang antusisas dan kurang bergairah. Peneliti bermaksud untuk mengatasi solusi persoalan tersebut melalui implementasi jurnal belajar. Jurnal belajar merupakan strategi pendidik untuk memantau perkembangan belajar siswa. Jenis penelitian ini deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa angket. Teknik analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi jurnal belajar siswa dapat memberikan solusi atas persoalan-persoalan siswa dalam pembelajaran, tingkat kesulitan materi, pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang kurang menggugah minat, serta sebagai bentuk refleksi siswa dalam mencari solusi atas masalah belajarnya. Bagi pendidik, jurnal belajar dirasa dapat menjadi bahan pijakan untuk mengevaluasi pembelajaran yang telah dilakukan dan sebagai pijakan untuk menyusun strategi dalam pembelajaran berikutnya.

Abstract

Dalam era globalisasi saat ini, pendidikan Islam di Indonesia menghadapi banyak masalah, antara lain: degradasi moral, hilangnya semangat untuk meneliti, serta hilangnya keberanian dan kepercayaan diri. Fokus dalam artikel hasil penelitian ini adalah (a) bagaimana konsep humanisme religius dalam pendidikan islam? dan (b) bagaimana implikasi konsep humanisme religius menurut perspektif Abdurahman Mas'ud pada pendidikan formal di Indonesia? Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan studi pustaka. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan islam humanisme religius merupakan proses pembentukan karakter, akhlak dan wawasan serta ilmu pengetahuan dengan cara menempatkan manusia sebagai manusia dengan landasan agama yang disertai hubungan manusia dengan Allah SWT dan sesama manusia atau hablun minallah dan hablun minnas. Implementasinya lebih fokus kepada aspek common sense, individualisme menuju kemandirian, thirst of knowledge, pendidikan pluralisme, kontekstualisme lebih mementingkan fungsi dari simbol, dan keseimbangan antara reward and punishment dalam proses kegiatan belajar mengajar di sekolah/madrasah. Implikasi pendidikan islam humanisme religius terjadi dalam proses pendidikan di madrasah dan Universitas Islam dengan strategi menciptakan kombinasi yang seimbang antara pendekatan dan tujuan, keseimbangan antara orientasi dan informasi, menciptakan iklim/budaya akademik yang mendukung, dan membuat kurikulum yang berkarakteristik. Kata kunci: pendidikan islam, humanisme religius, Abdurrahman Mas’ud, madrasah

Abstract

Technology and education are two sectors that are continuously developing side by side. They support the integrated development of other sectors to encourage the progress of human civilization. However, in order to keep up with the new generation's technological advancements, the ways of educating need to be reconsidered. This literature review aims to explain the impact of technology on education. Data obtained from various literature sources, especially journals, were analyzed using qualitative analysis consisting of data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results, it was found that the sustainability of values transmission occurs through the education process, making the integration of technology with contextual learning very important. Educators, as the closest people responsible for the learning process, need to constantly improve their abilities to provide the best learning environment for students by using various easily accessible learning resources.

Abstract

The social conditions of society in recent years have experienced various phenomena of intolerance that have given rise to different extreme, exclusive, and radical understandings. Some of these incidents are caused by narrowing and deviations in the knowledge of Islam. This study aims to determine the values of religious moderation in the book Islam The Central Way by Yusuf Qardhawi. Qualitative research uses a library research approach with the book Islam Jalan Tengah as a primary reference. Data collection using documentation study techniques. Data analysis techniques are carried out descriptively through data reduction, data display, and concluding stages. The results of this study concluded that the Values of Religious Moderation contained in the book Islam Jalan Tengah by Yusuf Qardhawi include: comprehensive values, relevance values, wisdom, universal values, adequacy values, and historical exploratory values.

Abstract

Learning methods in teaching carried out by teachers are sometimes still not directed. Many students violate rules and norms, such as not respecting teachers and even considering teachers to be their own friends. Therefore, the study of the previous references solved this problem. The focus of this research is what values are contained in the Alala book. What is the strategy for internalizing the values of the Alala book in fostering the morals of students. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research type. Collecting data using the method of observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis methods are data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. This results of this study indicate that the values contained in the Alala book are applied by students, namely, Knowledge Requirements, Virtue Knowledge, Maintaining Knowledge, Reaching Ideals, Exalting Teachers, Controlling Passions, Utilizing Time Well, Commands to Seek Knowledge. Meanwhile, the strategies for internalizing the values of the Alala book in fostering the morals of students are exemplary strategies, habituation strategies, advice strategies, story strategies and punishment strategies.
