Abstract

Background: The increasingly advanced industrial development increases the need for labor, but the intention to quit remains a significant challenge because it can harm companies through recruitment costs and the loss of high-quality human resources. This issue is particularly relevant for female workers who often face challenges balancing professional roles with family responsibilities. Objective:  This study aims to determine the relationship between work-family conflict and work engagement with intention to quit among working women in East Java. Method: This study used a quantitative correlational design with a sample of 149 female workers obtained through simple random sampling. Data were collected using scales adapted from the Work-Family Conflict scale, the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES), and the Intention to Quit Scale, then analyzed using multiple regression analysis. Results:  The results showed that work-family conflict and work engagement together were significantly correlated with intention to quit (F = 7.758; p < 0.01). However, individually, work-family conflict did not correlate with intention to quit (p = 0.290), while work engagement showed a significant correlation with intention to quit (p = 0.001). Conclusion: It is concluded that work engagement is a more dominant factor influencing the intention to quit among female workers compared to work-family conflict, providing an effective contribution of 11.89%.

Abstract

The high use of social media as a means of social interaction can lead to loneliness within digital contexts. This condition is known as digital loneliness, which is when a person still feels lonely despite being active online. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between Problematic Internet Use (PIU) and Digital Social Support (DSS) with Digital Loneliness (DL) in college students who are active users of social media. The subjects of this study were college students aged 18-34 years selected using purposive sampling (N=250). The instruments used included PIU scale (α=0.747), DSS scale (α=0.863), and DL scale (α=0.934). Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression. The results of the analysis showed that PIU and DSS were significantly related to DL. PIU was positively related to DL, while DSS was negatively related to DL. These findings indicate that a balance between the intensity of internet use and meaningful social support is needed to prevent DL.

Abstract

Abstract

Direct elections do not always run well. The aggressiveness of political partisans, who are sometimes hostile – swearing and verbally blaspheming one another on social media – during the campaign triggers a wider public conflict. Teenagers play an active role as novice voters in elections, yet verbal aggression of social conflicts on social media is prone to occur. This study is a multi-year research. In the first year, it mapped down the verbal aggression tendencies of young voters in Indonesia using literature and explanatory studies. It examined the theory and identified factors inducing polite behaviors. It was conducted in several areas around East Java for 6 months. The respondents in this study comprised 500 novice voters from designated provinces, with 100 samples from each. This quantitative research instrument involved verbal aggression, positive thinking, and positive communication as instruments analyzed and measured according to compatible measuring instruments. The study results indicated that teenagers who make the most of logic and common sense in thinking are not susceptible, especially to things that don't make sense. Logic teenagers prefer to ignore bad thoughts. Consequently, they hold a high sense of empathy once communicating, are calm, and tough to be emotionally provoked. Keyword: Polite behavior design; positive thinking; positive behavior; verbal aggressiveness; novice voter.

Abstract

This study aims to empirically examine the relationship between toxic productivity and burnout among students who maintain a dual role as workers in Surabaya. The problem focuses on the phenomenon of excessive productivity drive in a metropolitan city, which often forces students to ignore their self-capacity limits, thereby triggering chronic emotional exhaustion. This research employs a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The participant selection technique used was purposive sampling, involving 144 active students working full-time, part-time, or freelance in the Surabaya area. The research instruments consisted of the Toxic Productivity Scale, developed based on Ramadhina’s (2021) aspects, and the Burnout Scale, referring to Maslach and Leiter’s (2016) aspects. The results of the Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis showed a correlation value of r=0.405 with a significance of p=0.000 (p<0.05), indicating a significant positive relationship between toxic productivity and burnout. The effective contribution of toxic productivity to burnout was 16.4%. This implies that the higher the level of toxic productivity in working students, the higher the level of burnout they experience.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a period that may increase women’s vulnerability to psychological problems, particularly anxiety, which can affect the well-being of pregnant women. This study aims to describe the psychological dynamics, assessment process, and diagnosis of an early adult pregnant woman who experienced symptoms of anxiety. Using a case study approach supported by psychological assessments, including DASS, 16PF, SSCT, Wartegg, DAP, Baum, HTP, and SPM, the findings show that excessive anxiety was related to concerns about the maternal role, fetal health, family conditions, and the child’s future. Based on the integration of assessment results and DSM-5 criteria, the subject was diagnosed with Other Specified Anxiety Disorder with generalized anxiety features that had not yet met the duration criterion. These findings highlight the importance of comprehensive psychological assessment in supporting early identification and appropriate intervention planning.
