Abstract

Edamame soybean cultivation in Indonesia has great potential due to its high nutritional value and increasing market demand. However, the current productivity remains low, thereby hindering commercial development. This study aimed to enhance the growth and yield of edamame soybean plants through the application of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) and bioactive compost charcoal on tidal swamp lands. The research was conducted using a split-plot design consisting of two AMF treatments and four levels of bioactive compost charcoal. The results indicated that the combination of AMF and bioactive compost charcoal significantly increased various growth parameters and yield. Although a dose of 10 ton/ha produced vegetative growth equivalent to that achieved by applying 15 ton/ha corn stalk compost, a dose of 15 ton/ha resulted in more optimal harvest outcomes, with pod numbers reaching 43.22 units per plant, pod weight of 91.67 g per plant, and pod weight of 1.545 kg per plot. Furthermore, the treatment also increased the percentage of AMF colonization in roots as well as phosphorus uptake, which contributed to the enhancement of plant productivity.

Abstract

Shallots, as a horticultural commodity, have great potential for development. Efforts to develop shallots require technology to provide a growing environment that meets the necessary growth conditions. The use of mulch is expected to help maintain soil moisture and reduce evaporation rates, thereby meeting the plant's water requirements. The addition of nutrients through fertilization is also expected to improve shallot productivity on peatland. This study aims to examine the interaction between the use of mulch and NPK fertilization doses in increasing agricultural yields on peatland. This research used a factorial randomized block design (RBD) with two treatment factors. The first factor was the type of mulch, consisting of four levels: no mulch (M0), rice straw (M1), black silver plastic (M2), and weed mat (M3). The second factor was the dose of NPK fertilization, which consisted of four treatments: urea 350 kg/ha, SP-36 250 kg/ha, KCL 150 kg/ha (P1); urea 300 kg/ha, SP-36 200 kg/ha, KCL 100 kg/ha (P2); urea 250 kg/ha, SP-36 150 kg/ha, KCL 100 kg/ha (P3); and urea 200 kg/ha, SP-36 100 kg/ha, KCL 90 kg/ha (P4). Each treatment was repeated three times. The research results show that the interaction of the two factors affects the relative growth rate during the 1-2 weeks after planting, 3-4 weeks after planting, the number of leaves, dry weight of the plant, the number of tubers per clump, the weight of tubers per clump, and the dry tuber weight per clump. The treatment of straw mulch and high-dose fertilizer application produced better results compared to the other treatments

Abstract

The utilization of alluvial soils for expanding agricultural land to increase maize production is constrained by low soil pH and limited availability of macronutrients. The application of oil palm shell charcoal as a soil ameliorant has the potential to improve soil properties and enhance the effectiveness of MKP fertilizer as a source of phosphorus and potassium. This study aimed to evaluate the interactive effects of oil palm shell charcoal and MKP fertilizer on the growth and yield of maize grown on alluvial soil. The experiment was conducted in Limbung Village, Kubu Raya Regency, from September 2025 to January 2026 using a split-plot design arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Oil palm shell charcoal (without and with charcoal) was assigned as the main plot, while MKP fertilizer rates (0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 kg ha⁻¹) were applied as subplots. Observed variables included vegetative growth, physiological characteristics, and yield components. The results showed that the combination of oil palm shell charcoal and MKP fertilizer significantly improved maize growth and yield. The application of oil palm shell charcoal combined with MKP fertilizer at a rate of 150 kg ha⁻¹ produced the highest and most efficient yield, with a dry shelled grain weight of 216.28 g plant⁻¹.

Abstract

Soil salinity is one of the major limiting factors of soil fertility that directly affects rice growth and productivity. This study aimed to evaluate the role of mycorrhizal fungi in enhancing the growth and yield of rice plants under saline growing media conditions. The research was conducted at the Plant Seed Center, Peniraman Village, Sungai Pinyuh District, Mempawah Regency, from August to December 2025. The experiment was arranged in a split-plot design based on a randomized complete block design. The main plots consisted of without mycorrhizal fungi application and with mycorrhizal fungi application, while the subplots consisted of salinity levels of 0, 2, 3, 4, and 5 ppt. There were 10 treatment combinations, each replicated three times, with eight observation units, resulting in a total of 240 plants. The results showed that the application of mycorrhizal fungi increased rice productivity, as indicated by the grain weight per hill. Rice plants were able to tolerate soil salinity conditions up to 2 ppt, based on the variables of plant dry weight, panicle length, 1000-grain weight, and percentage of filled grains. No interaction was observed between mycorrhizal fungi application and salinity levels for all variables measured.

Abstract

Ubi jalar (Ipomoea batatas L.) merupakan jenis tanaman pangan umbi-umbian berasal dari Benua Amerika yang kaya nutrisi. Ubi jalar merupakan jenis tanaman merambat penghasil umbi yang memiliki potensi yang besar baik sebagai pangan alternatif dan bahan baku olahan dalam agroindustri. Tujuan dari penelitian melihat peranan pemberian paklobutrazol terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil panen ubi jalar di tanah PMK dan Mencari konsentrasi paklobutrazol terbaik pada tanaman ubi jalar di tanah PMK. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan pertanian, Jalan Refomasi, Gg. Matematika, Blok H, Kec. Pontianak Kota, Kota Pontianak. Yang berlangsung pada bulan Agustus 2024 sampai dengan bulan Desember 2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari satu faktor yaitu Paklobutrazol (P) yang terdiri dari 8 taraf perlakuan. Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 kali. sehingga diperoleh 24 satuan percobaan, dimana setiap satuan percobaan terdiri dari 3 unit sampel tanaman, sehingga jumlah keseluruhannya menjadi 72 tanaman. perlakuan yang di maksud adalah sebagai berikut : P0 : 0 ppm, P1 : 150 ppm, P2 : 300 ppm, P3 : 450 ppm, P4 : 600 ppm, P5 : 750 ppm, P6 : 900 ppm, dan P7 : 1050 ppm. Hasil penelelitian menunjukkan Pemberian paklobutrazol pada tanaman ubi jalar berpengaruh tidak nyata pada terhadap jumlah daun, jumlah cabang, panjang sulur 6 MST dan 8 MST, jumlah umbi, diameter umbi, berat umbi, dan panjang umbi. Pemberian paklobutrazol berpengaruh nyata terhadap panjang sulur pada 10 MST dan 12 MST tanaman ubi jalar aksesi ARF 08. pemberian paklobutrazol dengan konsentrasi 150 ppm merupakan hasil yang terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil ubi Jalar aksesi ARF 08.
