Abstract

The Integrative Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKN) at Singaperbangsa Karawang University with the title Optimizing Community Empowerment in Development to Improve the Economy of Sindangsari Village, Kutawaluya District, Karawang Regency, consisting of 23 students with various study programs. The Integrative Thematic Community Service Team carries out various work programs offline with due observance of health protocols during the period August – September 2022. As a concrete form of the university's contribution to society, industry, local government and community groups who want to be economically and socially independent, the Integrative Thematic Community Service team is actively observing and extracting data to find out existing problems, find solutions and create increased community empowerment.

Abstract

The Abbasid Dynasty (750-1258 CE) stands as one of the most illustrious periods in Islamic history, marked by significant advancements in science and literature. These achievements were driven by several factors, including political stability, economic prosperity, and government policies that promoted research and education. During this era, Baghdad, the capital of the caliphate, emerged as the intellectual hub of the world, attracting scholars, philosophers, and writers from diverse backgrounds.Science during the Abbasid Dynasty encompassed various disciplines such as mathematics, astronomy, medicine, chemistry, and physics. Muslim scholars not only translated classical works from Greek, Persian, and Indian sources into Arabic but also conducted original research and made substantial innovations. Figures like Al-Khwarizmi, known as the father of algebra, and Al-Razi, a pioneer in medicine, symbolize the scientific achievements of this period.In the realm of literature, the Abbasid era also witnessed remarkable growth. Poetry, prose, and other literary works flourished, with contributions from notable writers such as Al-Jahiz and Al-Mutanabbi. These literary works not only reflect the cultural and intellectual richness of the time but also provide insights into the social and political life under the Abbasid caliphate.Several factors contributed to these advancements, including the presence of large libraries such as the House of Wisdom (Bayt al-Hikma), which served as centers for translation and research, and the patronage of caliphs who supported the development of science and the arts. The synergy between political stability, economic support, and visionary government policies created an environment conducive to the progress of science and literature.Thus, the Abbasid Dynasty not only represents a significant milestone in Islamic history but also greatly contributed to the advancement of human civilization through its achievements in science and literature.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji mengenai populisme sebagai strategi politik yang menjadi ciri khas pemerintahan Recep Tayyip Erdoğan di Turkiye. Melalui strategi populisme, Erdoğan berhasil mempertahankan kekuasaannya sejak 2002 hingga saat ini. Namun, sepanjang perjalanannya, strategi populisme yang digunakannya mengalami pergeseran, terutama dalam membangun narasi tentang ‘ancaman’ yang dihadapi oleh Turkiye. Pergeseran ini terlihat dari perubahan fokus ‘musuh bersama’ yang awalnya bertumpu pada perlawanan terhadap elite sekuler menjadi retorika anti-Barat dan dewesternisasi. Selain itu, populisme yang diterapkan Erdoğan juga dikritik karena dianggap berkontribusi terhadap kemunduran demokrasi di Turkiye, dengan semakin kuatnya kontrol negara atas media, oposisi politik, dan kebijakan domestik. Meskipun demikian, kondisi tersebut tidak menghalangi dominasi elektoralnya dalam Pemilu Presiden 2023, di mana Erdoğan kembali memenangkan kursi kepresidenan untuk ketiga kalinya. Fenomena ini menjadi menarik untuk dikaji guna memahami bagaimana pergeseran strategi populisme Erdoğan dapat berkontribusi terhadap keberhasilannya dalam mempertahankan kekuasaan. Untuk menganalisis fenomena tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan induktif, yang berfokus pada pengumpulan data melalui in-depth interview serta analisis sekunder dari jurnal akademik, laporan kebijakan, dan media berita.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap bagaimana video gim Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) merepresentasikan propaganda dan melegitimasi agresi militer Amerika Serikat. Berbeda dari penelitian sebelumnya yang membahas serial ini secara umum, studi ini secara khusus menganalisis empat misi dalam gim tersebut dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan teknik analisis semiotika Roland Barthes. Data diperoleh melalui observasi langsung terhadap gameplay serta kajian literatur pendukung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gim ini menyisipkan mitos ideologis melalui narasi, visual, dan elemen gameplay yang menampilkan kekerasan militer Amerika sebagai tindakan moral, rasional, dan dibenarkan. Empat misi yang dianalisis: Hometown, Fog of War, Piccadilly, dan The Embassy. Membentuk narasi yang menempatkan Amerika dan sekutunya sebagai aktor heroik yang sah dalam menghadapi musuh yang digambarkan mutlak seagai aktor jahat. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) bukan hanya sekadar hiburan interaktif, melainkan juga medium propaganda yang membingkai kekerasan militer sebagai bentuk perlindungan terhadap tatanan global.

Abstract

Increased women's representation in parliament is often assumed to be directly proportional to the development of gender-responsive policies. This article challenges this assumption by analyzing women's legislative leadership in the enactment of the Sexual Violence Crime Law (TPKS Law) through the perspective of substantive representation. Unlike previous studies that have focused on descriptive representation or the advocacy role of civil society, this article offers a novel approach by positioning women's legislative leadership as institutional actors operating through formal authority and legislative mechanisms. This research employs a qualitative approach with policy analysis methods, based on a documentary study of minutes of House of Representatives meetings, institutional releases, and media coverage of the TPKS Law legislative process. The analysis is conducted by linking empirical findings to Hanna Pitkin's indicators of substantive representation, including agenda management, political decision-making, policy outcomes, and leadership consistency. The research findings indicate that the enactment of the TPKS Law resulted from political actions and strategic decisions by House leaders, who were able to maintain the continuity of the legislation amidst ideological resistance. This article asserts that women's substantive representation is not inherent to gender identity but is mediated by institutional structures and formal authority within the legislative process.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (KKN) in Tanjungrasa Village faces various challenges in managing the Diniyah Miftahul Hidayah educational institution, particularly in terms of infrastructure, teaching staff, and funding. This study aims to analyze the existing issues and formulate strategies to enhance the effectiveness of managing the institution. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed using observation, interviews, and document studies as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that limitations in facilities and infrastructure, a shortage of qualified teaching staff, and insufficient operational funds are the primary obstacles in managing Diniyah Miftahul Hidayah. To address these issues, several strategies can be implemented, including strengthening collaboration with the government and private sector for infrastructure development, providing training programs for educators, and optimizing funding sources through community participation and donors. By implementing these strategies, it is expected that the sustainability and quality of education at Diniyah Miftahul Hidayah will improve significantly.
