Abstract

This paper focuses on the Javanese Muslims religious belief and its ritual, slametan, ‎which is prevalently performed in Java. This ritual is of great significance to the ‎Javanese Muslim community, and is counted as syncretistic ritual of Islamic and the ‎Javanese traditions. The ritual is though analysed in relation to the society ideal of unity ‎and harmony as the standard set for the indicator that the life of people is in order and ‎in a slamet condition or ‘nothing happens’. This paper argues that this ceremony is the ‎main ritual among Javanese Muslims which to a large extent reflects and symbolises the ‎religious belief, slamet principle of the people living together, and having strong ‎awareness of others. This ideal in the end conceives some element of sacredness which ‎has the influence on the relationship between individual and social behaviour.‎

Abstract

This study aims to examine the patterns and narratives of the Islamic movement in Universitas Negeri Jakarta. The type of research is qualitative with a case study approach. The results of this study indicate that there are two types of Islamic movements in UNJ in the form of national and transnational movements. The pattern of the national Islamic movements in UNJ is represented by the academic activities organised through the PAI (Islamic Religious Education) study programme within the campus, and extra-campus MATAN organisation. Meanwhile, the transnational Islamic movements are represented by the Lembaga Dakwah Kampus (LDK) within the campus, and extra-campus organizations which include KAMMI, BMCI, and Nyantrend. The narrative of the Islamic movement promoted by the PAI (IRE) study programme through academic activities is Islamic moderation “more moderate more Indonesia,” MATAN as a national Islamic movement develops the narrative of Islamic Rahmatan Li al-’Alamin. LDK carries the slogan of Symuliatul Islam, KAMMI builds Islamic stories with Islam Shamil, BMCI Islamic narratives are preached with the slogan of Islam Kaffah, and Nyantred creates a narrative of Islam Ahlu Sunnah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk pengembangan kompetensi dari nilai-nilai multikultural dan kearifan lokal masyarakat Indonesia ke dalam mata kuliah Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) di Perguruan Tinggi. Metode penelitian adalah kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, angket, lembar observasi, studi dokumentasi, dan focus group discussion. Subjek penelitian adalah dosen dan mahasiswa peserta pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam. Hasil penelitian menemukan dua komponen utama pengembangan kompetensi pendidikan agama islam (PAI) di perguruan tinggi yaitu kompetensi pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam yang bertumpu pada nilai-nilai multikultural dan kearifan lokal, serta indikator dan instrumen penilaian sikap. Kontribusi penelitian ini adalah revitalisasi kurikulum pada hasil pembelajaran PAI ranah afektif serta membudayakan nilai-nilai multikultural dan kearifan lokal melalui pembelajaran PAI di Perguruan Tinggi

Abstract

This community service aims to develop teacher professionalism in online learning through assistance in preparing digital teaching materials. The methods used in the service activities are interactive lectures, discussions, practices, and assignments. The participants involved were 11 elementary school teachers. Community service activities are carried out through making guidelines, implementing assistance, monitoring, and assigning tasks. The service results show that the mentoring activities have succeeded in developing the abilities and professionalism of teachers in the use of technology in learning. Participants have compiled digital teaching materials independently and have implemented them for students in their online learning. Meanwhile, 81.82% of participants stated that service activities provided new insights, and 63.64% were satisfied with the activities carried out.Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan profesionalisme guru dalam pembelajaran daring melalui pendampingan penyusunan bahan ajar digital. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian berupa ceramah interaktif, diskusi, praktik, dan penugasan. Peserta yang terlibat adalah guru Sekolah Dasar sebanyak 11 orang. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilaksanakan melalui tahapan proses pembuatan panduan, pelaksanaan pendampingan, pemantauan, dan pemberian tugas. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pendampingan berhasil mengembangkan kemampuan dan profesionalitas guru dalam penggunaan teknologi dalam pembelajaran. Peserta telah dapat menyusun bahan ajar digital secara mandiri dan telah mengimplementasikannya kepada peserta didik dalam pembelajaran daringnya. Adapun sebesar 81,82% peserta menyatakan kegiatan pengabdian memberikan wawasan baru, dan 63,64% peserta merasa puas dengan kegiatan yang telah dilaksanakan.

Abstract

Ulama have a big role in the life of a plural society. In their efforts, achievements in education, politics, socio-economy, and others have been completed. These attainments were not separate from the role of ulama or kyai who wrote books or kitab to be used as teaching materials in Islamic boarding schools, pesantren, or religious assembly, teaching, in the community. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach and data were collected using documentation studies and interviews. This study was conducted in six pesantren in Bandung. There are 39 works of the pesantren ulama with various studies such as Islamic jurisprudence, Sufism, theology, Arabic grammar, hadith, Arabic morphology, astronomy, and Sufi path. The results are hoped to enrich the knowledge and literature about the various works of pesantren ulama in Bandung area from the 19th – 20th century which have not been known by the public so far and to give characteristic that is specific to the knowledge in the pesantren. In addition, this article can be an entry point for other researchers to conduct a more in-depth study of the contents of the ulama’s works.

Abstract

This paper aims to discuss some of the understandings that became mainstream Islam in Indonesia in some theological and muamalah and fiqh. The development and dissemination of Islamic understanding is inseparable from the important role of the social agency through which this understanding spread and became established among Muslim Indonesians. To complement the discussion, an inadequately conventional understanding is also discussed as a comparison material and further thought. This is expected to add to existing insights about Islamic understanding. Keywords: Social Agency, Understanding of Islam Abstrak Makalah ini bertujuan untuk membahas beberapa pemahaman yang menjadi pemahaman islam mainstream di Indonesia dalam beberapa hal teologis dan muamalah dan fiqhnya. Perkembangan dan penyebaran pemahaman keislaman ini tak lepas dari peran penting agensi sosial yang melaluinya pemahaman ini menyebar dan menjadi mapan di kalangan Muslim Indonesia. Untuk melengkapi bahasan, pemahaman yang tidak cukup konvensional juga dibahas sebagai bahan perbandingan dan pemikiran lebih lanjut. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the method of da'wah and social identity of Alumni Darul Mustafa Tarim Hadromaut Yemen to the Assembly of Rasullah in DKI Jakarta. Type of research used in this research is with qualitative approach. Conducted based on appropriate data through interviews with three informants who are part of Alumni Darul Mustafa Tarim Hadromaut Yemen. This research shows that the method of da'wah done by Alumni Darul Mustafa Tarim Hadromaut Yemen to Majelis Rasulullah in DKI Jakarta is by way of softness, good advice and do not include political element in the delivery of dakwah. In addition, Alumni Darul Mustafa Tarim Hadromaut Yemen also always put forward morality in the delivery of dakwahnya so that Mad'u are interested to be present in the Assembly of the Prophet. Furthermore, there are characteristics that ultimately shape social identity. It is the use of attributes of the Assembly such as the jacket of the Assembly of Rasulullah, the flag of the Assembly of the Prophet, and so on by Mad'u, which is part of the method of da'wah. Abstrak Tujuan dilakukan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui metode dakwah dan identitas sosial Alumni Darul Musthafa Tarim Hadromaut Yaman pada Majelis Rasullah di DKI Jakarta. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Dilakukan berdasarkan data yang tepat melalui wawancara dengan tiga informan yang merupakan bagian dari Alumni Darul Musthafa Tarim Hadromaut Yaman tersebut. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa metode dakwah yang dilakukan oleh Alumni Darul Musthafa Tarim Hadromaut Yaman pada Majelis Rasulullah di DKI Jakarta adalah dengan cara kelembutan, nasehat yang baik dan tidak memasukkan unsur politik di dalam penyampaian dakwahnya. Selain itu, Alumni Darul Musthafa Tarim Hadromaut Yaman juga selalu mengedepankan akhlaq di dalam penyampaian dakwahnya sehingga para Mad’u tertarik untuk hadir di dalam Majelis Rasulullah. Selanjutnya, terdapat ciri khas yang pada akhirnya membentuk identitas sosial. Hal itu berupa penggunaan atribut Majelis seperti jaket Majelis Rasulullah, bendera Majelis Rasulullah, dan lain sebagainya oleh Mad’u, yang merupakan bagian daripada metode dakwah. Kata Kunci: Metode Dakwah, Identitas Sosial, Alumni Darul Musthafa Tarim Hadromaut Yaman, Majelis Rasulullah.

Abstract

The relation between the state and ulama in Indonesia is intriguing, especially with regards to issuing fatwa and the people’s response and perception towards the consequences it may have on their civil and/or religious obligations. This paper aims to examine the phenomenon of fatwa by ulama on several matters, the development of fatwa by the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI), and the result of the fatwa issuance in causing the societal confusion and controversy through time. It is argued that the fatwas issued by the MUI operate more as an official religious discourse rather than legally binding or affecting individual’s civil obligation. It is summed up that the fatwas are to a great extent simply a religious decree which can be accepted or rethought, and has no consequences on legal civil rights and obligation. The worry and controversy of the Indonesian Muslims are driven by the fact that it is an officially established religious institution and the ulama body which are highly regarded by many Muslims. In addition, there is neither strong connection nor absence of influence between the state and the ulama. The situation is not fixed and may change depending on the dynamics that take place in the level of state, social-culture, and religion.

Abstract

Religious education and national interest often interrelate that its long process leads to an unpredicted outcome or side effects in the future. This paper seeks to analyse the unawareness between religious denominations, particularly Muslims and Christians in Indonesia which may be resulted by the religious education programmes and state policy involvement. A variety of literary sources is used to support the argument that religious harmony in Indonesia is not based on people’s self open-mindedness but more on the state authority’s strategy to advocate stability and coexistence between religions. Finally, it is suggested that the tolerance between religious communities should be motivated instead by a process of learning and acquiring knowledge of themselves and others by deepening their understanding of each and other’s faith. Abstract

The Tahfidz Online program is the flagship program of the Indonesia Berkah Foundation. This study aims to describe and evaluate the implementation of the Indonesia Berkah Foundation's Tahfidz Online program. This research is qualitative research with data collection techniques using observation, interviews and document analysis. The CIPP (context, input, process, product) evaluation model developed by Daniel Leroy Stufflebeam et al. was used as an evaluation reference. This study finds out that: In terms of the input component, it shows that musyrifah, curriculum, and infrastructure have met the criteria. However, there are notes on the input of students not meeting the criteria of intention because God also does not understand the knowledge of recitation and Arabic. In terms of the media process components and materials, they do not meet the criteria of interest and are arranged in a sequence that makes it easy for students, while the method and time have met the criteria.
