Abstract

In selecting the best freight forwarding company, the concept of a Decision Support System (DSS) can be used to find the best solution from several alternatives. One of the DSS methods is the Intuitionistic Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (IFAHP) and Intuitionistic Fuzzy Tomada de Decisao Interativa Multicriterio (IFTODIM). This study applied the IFAHP method combined with the IFTODIM method to select the best freight forwarding company at PT Progressio Indonesia. PT Progression Indonesia is a manufacturing and retail company that produces furniture. There are 11 criteria used in the performance assessment of the four alternatives. This research shows that the best freight forwarding company at PT Progressio Indonesia is Kobra Express, with a comprehensive value of 1.000. The second is Herona Express, with a comprehensive value of 0.9437, followed by Indah Logistik Cargo, with a comprehensive value of 0.7005. The last is Guna Dharma Express, with a comprehensive value of 0.0000.

Abstract

Indonesia, as the largest Muslim-majority country, has significant potential to enhance its Shariah financial sector, which has been growing rapidly, around 7.43% from 2023 to 2024, and contributing to the national economy. However, political and natural disasters have influenced the economy and Shariah-compliant stocks. This study focuses on forecasting Shariah-compliant stock prices using Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (GARCH) models and estimating investment risks via Value at Risk (VaR) for four Islamic banks listed in IDX: BRIS, BTPS, BANK, and PNBS. The findings indicate that GARCH models effectively capture stock price dynamics and provide accurate 10-day forecasts. Additionally, the models reliably predict VaR, validated through backtesting at various confidence levels. These insights are valuable for financial regulators and risk managers, aiding in policy design to ensure market stability by enabling the implementation of measures such as stricter capital reserve requirements for institutions with high-risk exposure and mandatory adoption of advanced risk management techniques like dynamic stress testing. Such policies not only mitigate systemic risks during periods of financial volatility but also enhance the overall resilience and robustness of the financial system. For investors, accurate risk predictions support informed decision-making, enhance portfolio protection, and optimize risk management.

Abstract

Numerical methods are crucial for solving ordinary differential equations (ODEs) that frequently arise in various fields of science and engineering. This study compares three numerical methods: the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method (RK4), the fourth-order Runge-Kutta Contra-harmonic Mean method (CoM4), and the fourth-order Adam-Bashforth-Moulton method (ABM4) in solving initial value problems of ODEs. Three IVPs of ODEs have been solved with varying step sizes using the three methods that have been proposed, and the solutions for each step size are examined. Numerical comparisons between RK4, CoM4, and ABM4 methods have been presented to solve three initial problems of ODE. Simulation results show that each method has advantages and limitations depending on the type of ODE being solved. We find that for very small step sizes, the numerical solutions agree the best with the exact solution. As such, all three proposed approaches are sufficient to solve the IVP ODE accurately and efficiently. Among the three proposed methods, we observe that the mean absolute error for the RK4 method is the smallest, followed by the ABM4 method.

Abstract

Cervical cancer remains a significant health problem, especially in developing countries. Early detection is critical for effective treatment. Convolutional neural networks (CNN) have shown promise in automated cervical cancer screening, but their performance depends on pap smear image quality. This study investigates the impact of various image preprocessing techniques on CNN performance for cervical cancer classification using the SIPaKMeD dataset. Three preprocessing techniques were evaluated: PeronaMalik diffusion (PMD) filter for noise reduction, contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE) for image contrast enhancement, and the proposed hybrid PMD filter-CLAHE approach. The enhanced image datasets were evaluated on pretrained models, such as ResNet-34, ResNet-50, SqueezeNet-1.0, MobileNet-V2, EfficientNet-B0, EfficientNet-B1, DenseNet121, and DenseNet-201. The results show that hybrid preprocessing PMD filter-CLAHE can improve the pap smear image quality and CNN architecture performance compared to the original images. The maximum metric improvements are 13.62% for accuracy, 10.04% for precision, 13.08% for recall, and 14.34% for F1-score. The proposed hybrid PMD filter-CLAHE technique offers a new perspective in improving cervical cancer classification performance using CNN architectures.

Abstract

Pap-smear image quality is crucial for cervical cancer detection. This study introduces an optimized hybrid approach that combines the Perona-Malik diffusion (PMD) filter with contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE) to enhance pap-smear image quality. The PMD filter reduces the image noise, whereas CLAHE improves the image contrast. The hybrid method was optimized using spider monkey optimization (SMO PMD-CLAHE). Blind/reference-less image spatial quality evaluator (BRISQUE) and contrast enhancement-based image quality (CEIQ) are the new objective functions for the PMD filter and CLAHE optimization, respectively. The simulations were conducted using the SIPaKMeD dataset. The results indicate that SMO outperforms state-of-the-art methods in optimizing the PMD filter and CLAHE. The proposed method achieved an average effective measure of enhancement (EME) of 5.45, root mean square (RMS) contrast of 60.45, Michelson’s contrast (MC) of 0.995, and entropy of 6.80. This approach offers a new perspective for improving pap-smear image quality.

Abstract

This study presents a prey-predator model incorporating the Allee effect and Holling Type IV Functional Response. The model identifies three equilibrium points: the zero-equilibrium, the predator extinction equilibrium, and the positive equilibrium. Under specific conditions, all these points exhibit local asymptotic stability. The Allee effect is an important factor in determining the stability of the equilibrium point. A weak Allee effect can destabilize the zero-equilibrium point, while a strong Allee effect ensures its local asymptotic stability, potentially leading to the extinction of both species. Additionally, forward and Hopf bifurcation under weak Allee conditions occur at the predator extinction equilibrium point. In contrast, a strong Allee effect may cause bistability between the zero-equilibrium and predator extinction equilibrium points. This evidence suggests that prey can survive without predators; however, a strong Allee effect might result in prey extinction if the population decreases significantly. The Holling Type IV functional response illustrates the impact of prey group defense, which diminishes predation pressure as prey density increases, thereby facilitating the development of limit cycles and establishing a positive equilibrium under specific parameter conditions. This mechanism is crucial for managing predator-prey cohabitation and influencing the system's bifurcation structure. The final section of the study includes numerical simulations to support the analytical findings. The interplay between the Allee effect and the Holling Type IV functional response yields complex dynamics, encompassing bistability, oscillation behavior, and sensitivity to initial conditions. Their collaborative interaction amplifies the system's nonlinearity, enabling the creation of various dynamic behaviors that are extremely sensitive to fluctuations in parameter values.

Abstract

Lumpy skin disease (LSD) is one of the cattle diseases that can spread rapidly, it is caused by lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV). LSDV can spread through direct contact, insect vectors, and contaminated environments. In this article, we propose the dynamics of a lumpy skin disease model that contains seven compartments: susceptible cattle, vaccinated cattle, infected cattle, recovered cattle, susceptible vector, infected vector, and LSDV in the environment. The non-negativity and boundedness of the solution of the proposed LSD model are shown. There are two equilibrium points: the disease-free equilibrium point which always exists, and the endemic equilibrium point which exists conditionally. The disease-free equilibrium point is locally and globally asymptotically stable when the basic reproduction number is less than unity. The endemic equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable if the Lienard-Chipart criteria is satisfied. In addition, based on the sensitivity analysis, we find that the vaccination rate is the most sensitive parameter. All analytical results have been verified by our numerical simulations.

Abstract

Images are one of many forms used to store important information that is easy to use and share, but they are vulnerable to cyber-attacks. An encryption effort is needed to secure the vital information in an image. In this paper, an encryption and decryption algorithm for grayscale and RGB images is proposed using logistic map with feedback control (LMFC). This 2D map which is an improvement from the popular one-dimensional logistic map also exhibits sensitive dependence on initial conditions, known as chaos. This phenomenon is verified through bifurcation diagram and the largest Lyapunov exponent. By using the largest Lyapunov exponent and the control parameters as secret key, LMFC generates two sequences of pseudo-random number related to the original image. Subsequently, a permutation process is proposed, utilizing permutation box to rearrange the pixel positions in the plain image. Finally, a diffusion process is proposed, utilizing XOR operations and keystreams created from the pseudo-random sequence to alter the pixel values, resulting in a visually distinct cipher image. Performance analysis of the proposed algorithm indicates resilience to various cryptanalysis and robust security, as it is sensitive to both secret keys and plain image. Additionally, the proposed decryption algorithm demonstrates the ability to reconstruct the original image with good quality from a cipher image, despite data changes or losses.

Abstract

This study proposes a SVEIL model of tuberculosis disease spread with imperfect vaccination. Susceptible individuals can receive imperfect vaccination, but over the time the vaccine efficacy will decrease. Vaccinated individuals are in vulnerable class since they still have probability to get reinfected. The proposed model includes treatment for both high-risk latent and active TB patients. In fact, after getting appropriate treatment (get recovered) the individuals still have bacteria in their body and it is classified to low-risk laten class. Dynamical behaviour of the model is analyzed to understand the local stability equilibrium. The Routh-Hurwitz criterion is used to analyze the local stability equilibrium in disease free equilibrium (DFE) point and Center Manifold theorem is used to prove the local stability of the endemic equilibrium (EE) point. The local stability equilibrium state totally depends on the effective reproduction number R_v. If R_v<1 , then the DFE point is locally asymtotically stable, while if R_v>1 the EE point is locally asymptotically stable . The parameter used in this paper is based on the previous researches related to TB and the initial subpopulations are assumed. Numerical simulations show that the disease transmission rate affect the effective reproduction number, therefore it influences the stability of equilibrium points..

Abstract

The pursuit of efficiency in the business sector is a multifaceted endeavor, extending beyond mere cost reduction to encompass a strategic optimization of operational performance. The enhancement of efficiency is not solely for the benefit of investors or proprietors but is also a concerted effort to maximize resource utilization and minimize waste. This study introduces an integrative approach combining IFTOPSIS and DEA methodologies to deliver a robust efficiency evaluation framework. The fusion of IFTOPSIS's qualitative analysis with DEA's quantitative assessments addresses the complexity of operational performance, providing a balanced evaluation that transcends subjective bias with data-driven insights. IFTOPSIS articulates decision-makers' preferences in uncertain scenarios, assigning weights to criteria, while DEA discriminates between efficient and inefficient operational units. This confluence of methods is applied to the assessment of inpatient healthcare units—a sector that has traditionally relied on patient-centric evaluations, neglecting the comprehensive review of resource deployment. The results of this amalgamated approach reveal dimensions of operational efficiency previously unexplored, offering stakeholders a data-enriched foundation for strategic decision-making. The study's findings have significant implications for the healthcare industry, providing a template for resource evaluation that could inform policy and drive improvements in patient care services.
