Abstract

Research on service per conception (S/C) of Krui Cattles in Pesisir Selatan Regency was carried out in December 2019 using two inseminators collection data, 75 farmers and 166 Krui Cattles that have been artificially inseminated. The purpose of this study was to determine: 1) the S/C value of Krui cattle in the Pesisir Selatan District, 2) the factors and its magnitude that influence the S/C of Krui cattle in Pesisir Selatan Regency. Data was analysed with multiple regression using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) programs. The results showed that the S/C value of Krui Cattles in Pesisir Selatan Regency was 1.53±0.71. The factors that affected the S/C value of Krui Cattless in Pesisir Selatan Regency were derived from the variable of farmers and livestock. At the farmer level the factors that influence wee the type of forage that is negatively associated with a factor of 0.229, the shape of the cage wall which is negatively associated with 0.287, and the sanitation of the cage that is negatively associated with 0.355. Factors influencing S/C values at the livestock level were negative associated body condition scores (BCS) of 0.429, age of first mated was negative associations of 0.039, and estrus postpartum negative associations of 0.118. Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the value of conception rate and the factors affecting the conception rate of Krui Cattles in Pesisir Selatan District, Pesisir Barat Regency. This research was carried out using survey method with census data collection in December 2019 until January 2020. This study used data of 166 artificially inseminated Krui cattles belong to 75 farmers and secondary data of the result of artificial insemination from two inseminators. Data was analysed using multiple regression analysis with SPSS program. The result showed that conception rate of Krui cattles at Pesisir Selatan District was 58.43%. Factors that affect conception rate were the amount of forage giving that negatively associated with factor value of 0.006, body condition score that positively associated with factor value of 0.102, and service per conception that negatively associated with factor value of 0.591. Keywords : conception rates, Krui cattles

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of giving black cumin (Nigella sativa) as an immunomodulator on Avian Influenza (AI) and Newcastle Disease (ND) antibody titers in male broilers. This study was conducted in December 2019--January 2020 at the Laboratory of Integrated Field, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. Analysis of antibody titers was carried out at the Laboratory of Virology, Veterinary Disease Investigation Center Region Lampung. This study used a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and three replications namely drinking water without Nigella sativa (P0), drinking water with 36 mg/kg BW/day Nigella sativa (P1), drinking water with 72 mg/kg BW/day Nigella sativa (P2), and drinking water with 144 mg/kg BW/day Nigella sativa (P3). The results of this study showed that administration of Nigella sativa had no significant effect on antibody titer of AI, but had significant effect on antibody titer of ND and administration 72 mg/kg BW/day of Nigella sativa was the best in increasing the antibody titer of ND in male broilers. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of cage microclimate manipulation with misting on physiological responses and heat resistance of goats (Sapera and Ettawa Grade). This research was conducted in April - May 2020 at Telaga Rizki People's Farm, Metro City, Lampung Province. This study used an experimental method, Split Plot design with a completely randomized design (CRD). This study used two treatments, namely modification of the pen consisting of pens without misting (K0) and pens with misting (K1) and two breed of goats, namely Sapera and Ettawa Grade (PE) goats. Each treatment was carried out 3 times. Goats as subplots and microclimate modification of the pen as the main plot. In this study, twelve female goats were used, namely 6 Sapera goats and 6 Ettawa Grade (PE) goats aged 2-3 years. The parameters observed were microclimate condition, namely air temperature, relative humidity (RH), and Temperature Humidity Index (THI), and physiological responses including rectal temperature, respiration frequency, heart rate frequency, and heat tolerance (HTC). The results of the research showed that there was significant effect (P<0.05) of treatments on RH and THI. The resilts also showed that there was no significant effect (P>0.05) of treatments on rectal temperature, heart rate, respiration frequency, HTC and environment temperature. Abstract

Daging itik mengandung cukup banyak kolesterol.

Abstract

This research aimed to study the effect of microclimate modification of pensby misting and the goats breeds (Boer and Ettawa crossbreeds) on physiological responses to adapt to the hot  environments. The study was conducted from August-September 2018 at the UPTD Goat Breeding Center, Lampung Plantation and Livestock Service Office located in Negeri Sakti, Pesawaran Regency. The study used a split plot design in completely randomized design. Two treatments were applied in this study, namely modification of the pen consisting of pens without misting and pens with misting and the goat breed namely Boerawa and Ettawa crossbreed (PE). Twelve female goats were used in this study, each of six Boerawa and PE respectively. The parameters observed were microclimate conditions, namely air temperature, relative humidity, and Temperature Humidity Index (THI) and physiological responses consisted of respiration rate, heart rate, rectal temperature, and Heat Tolerance Coefficient (HTC). The results showed that there was no effect of the interaction between the treatment of misting and the breeds of goat on respiration rate, heart rate, rectal temperature, and HTC. Misting can improve air temperature, THI, respiration rate and HTC, on the other hand, does not affect the heart rate and rectal temperature. Goat breed has no effect on all physiological responses. Thus, modification of the microclimate by misting effectively maintains body temperature under normal conditions and increases the adaptability of goats to hot environments. Keywords: Physiological Responses, Microclimate Conditions, Microclimate Modification, Misting
