Abstract

This study aimed to determine the presence or absence of subclinical mastitis cases with mastitis test IPB-1 and somatic cell count calculation of the Breed method for dairy milk farm in Tanggamus Regency. The study was conducted in January 2020. Milk specimens were taken from farmers in Gisting Atas and Air Naningan district areas of Tanggamus Regency, Lampung Province. Specimen testing was carried out at the Animal Production Laboratory, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. Specimens of milk used were obtained from farms in the Gisting Atas region as many as 9 lactation dairy cows and 10 lactation dairy cows from farms in the Air Naningan region. This research method was a survey by taking farm data through interviews, taking milk specimens for mastitis testing with the reagents of IPB-1, taking specimens to be used as preparations which are then tested to somatic cell count using the breed method. The variables observed were the results of mastitis test and the results of somatic cell counts in dairy milk. Data were processed in tabulation and histogram then explained descriptively. The mastitis test results showed that 33% of cow nipples from Gisting Atas farms and 37% of nipples from Air Naningan farms positively had subclinical mastitis. Calculation of the number of somatic cells showed that the average number of somatic cells was 2,341,538 cells / ml for the Gisting Atas area and as much as 821,176 cells / ml for the Air Naningan region. Abstract

The study aimed to determine the effects of black cumin extract (Nigella sativa) and determine the optimal dose of black cumin extract (Nigella sativa) on total erythrocytes and leukocytes broilers. This research was conducted from December 2019 to January 2020 at the Integrated Field Laboratory Unit of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The research data were analyzed at Pramitra Biolab Indonesia Laboratory, Bandar Lampung. The research material was 60 female broilers (strain Cobb CP 707). This study used a Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments in this study were drinking water without Nigella sativa (P0), drinking water with Nigella sativa 36 mg/kg BW/day (P1), drinking water with Nigella sativa 72 mg/kg BW/day (P2) and drinking water with Nigella sativa 144 mg/kg BW/day (P3). Data obtained from observations were arranged in the form of simple tabulations and displayed in the form of histograms for descriptive analysis. Research showed that female broilers given black cumin (Nigella sativa) in their drinking water affected on the total erythrocytes which was in the normal range and the total leukocytes which were above the normal range in all treatment. The best dose of black cumin (Nigella sativa) in drinking water for each parameters was 144 mg/kg BW/day for total erythrocytes and 72 mg/kg BW/day for total leukocytes. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the microbiological status (Total Plate Count and Staphylococcus aureus) of milk of dairy cows of people's farms. Research location was in Tanggamus Regency, Lampung Province. This research used survey method with census methods. Fresh milk samples were taken during milking in the morning, which is as much as 250 ml from all lactating cows. In addition, this study also used questionnaire to know the condition of the dairy cows. Nineteen milk samples were analyzed at the Veterinary Public Health Laboratory of Lampung Veterinary Center, Bandar Lampung. Analysis of milk microbiological status was based on Total Plate Count and Staphylococcus aureus. The results of this study indicated that 100% of milk samples had Total Plate Count and Staphylococcus aureus values ​​below the maximum SNI number of 3141.1: 2011. Milk of dairy cow in Tanggamus Regency, Lampung Province is feasible and safe for consumption. Keywords: Dairy cows, Microbiological status, Milk.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of Nigella sativa on total erythrocytes and leucocytes of male broiler. This research was conducted on December 2019–January 2020 at the Integrated Field Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. Examination of total erythrocytes and leucocytes was conducted at Pramitra Biolab Indonesia clinical Laboratory, Bandar Lampung. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and three replication. The treatments given were drinking water without Nigella sativa (P0), drinking water with 36 mg/kg BW/day of Nigella sativa (P1), drinking water with 72 mg/kg BW/day of Nigella sativa (P2), drinking water with 144 mg/kg BW/day of Nigella sativa (P3). The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that giving Nigella sativa at a dose of 144 mg/kg BW/day (P3) was an effective dose for increasing total erythrocytes and leucocytes. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of giving black cumin (Nigella sativa) as an immunomodulator on Avian Influenza (AI) and Newcastle Disease (ND) antibody titers in male broilers. This study was conducted in December 2019--January 2020 at the Laboratory of Integrated Field, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. Analysis of antibody titers was carried out at the Laboratory of Virology, Veterinary Disease Investigation Center Region Lampung. This study used a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and three replications namely drinking water without Nigella sativa (P0), drinking water with 36 mg/kg BW/day Nigella sativa (P1), drinking water with 72 mg/kg BW/day Nigella sativa (P2), and drinking water with 144 mg/kg BW/day Nigella sativa (P3). The results of this study showed that administration of Nigella sativa had no significant effect on antibody titer of AI, but had significant effect on antibody titer of ND and administration 72 mg/kg BW/day of Nigella sativa was the best in increasing the antibody titer of ND in male broilers. Abstract

The objective of this experiment  was to determine the effects of different percentage of ration between day and night to male chicken medium type performance;  the best level of percentage of ration that given between the day and night in chicken coop. A total of one hundred and forty four day-old male chicks medium type were divided into 3 treatments and 6 replications, each treatment consist of 8 male chickens. The treatments were ration that given 30% during the day and 70% the night; ration that given 50% during the day and 50% the night; ration that given 70% during the day and 30% the night. This research was conducted from August through October 2018 in Integrated Laboratory Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung.  Data were subjected to analysis variance. Significant was considered at 5% level of probability. The results showed, percentage ration between day and night signicant influence feed consumption (P <0.05), but not significant effect to body weight and feed conversion ratio. The percentage of ration given 30% during  day and 70%  night is the best treatment influence feed conversion ratio (2,41) with feed consumption 1.738.03 g/bird  and body weight 718,58 g/bird. Keywords : Male chickens, Ration percentage, Chicken coop

Abstract

Daging itik mengandung cukup banyak kolesterol. Bungkil kelapa sawit, onggok dan dedak merupakan bahan pakan lokal yang banyak digunakan oleh peternak itik tradisional. Pengolahan pakan dengan cara fermentasi diharapkan dapat mengurangi kadar kolesterol itik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggantian ransum komersil dengan campuran bungkil kelapa sawit, onggok, dan dedak yang difermentasi dengan EM-4 terhadap profil lemak darah itik lokal jantan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan lima perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Setiap ulangan terdiri dari dua ekor itik. Perlakuannya adalah  ransum komersil 100% (P0),  ransum komersil 95% + campuran bahan pakan fermentasi 5% (P1), ransum komersil 90% + campuran bahan pakan fermentasi 10% (P2), ransum komersil 85% + campuran bahan pakan fermentasi 15% (P3), dan ransum komersil 80% + campuran bahan pakan fermentasi 20% (P4).  Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis ragam (One Way Anova) dan apabila berpengaruh nyata dilanjutkan dengan Uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT). Hasil analisis ragam menunjukkan bahwa penambahan campuran bungkil kelapa sawit, onggok, dan dedak terfermentasi sampai dengan level 20% dalam ransum komersil tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0.05) terhadap kadar kolesterol, HDL, LDL dan trigliserida darah itik Mojosari jantan.  Kesimpulan penelitian ini bahwa pemberian campuran bahan pakan fermentasi dapat digunakan sampai dengan 20% dalam ransum tanpa memberikan efek negatif terhadap lemak darah itik..Kata Kunci: EM-4, HDL, Kolesterol, LDL, Trigliserida.
