The purposes of this research are to describe the implementation of the teacher in teaching speaking descriptive text using facebook for Senior High School Students, and to describe the achievement of the students in speaking using facebook. This study was descriptive qualitative research. The data were taken from the tenth grade students of senior high school in Sidoarjo. The data collecting technique used instruments of observation field note, interview and test. From the observation field note was described that the implementation of teaching learning process given were: First, the way of speaking descriptive text was explained to the students. Second, the examples of generic structure of descrptive text were displayed. Third, the way to describe picture profile from the Facebook was explained to the students. The last, the pleasant atmosphere was created while the students tried to operate Facebook for describing the profile of someone. Further, the results of test had shown that the students’ scores were good; with the average scores > 75. They show that the technique of Teaching Speaking Descriptive Text Using Facebook For Senior High School students is good for teaching speaking.

This research aims to know whether the students’ ability in writing procedure text could be improved through the use of Instagram picture series as teaching media. This is a classroom action research (CAR) implemented in two cycles, on the eleventh-grade students of Madrasah Aliyah NU Sidoarjo in 2019/2020 academic year. This research uses quasi-experimental design which has these criteria based on Mueller: 1). No random selection of subjects; 2). Pre-test both groups; 3). Experimental group receives new treatment; 4). Control group receive no treatment or the normal treatment; 5). Post-test both groups. The population is 126 students. The samples are ten students of XI MIPA 1 as the experimental group and ten students of XI MIPA 2 as the control group. The independent variable is Instagram picture series as media of teaching writing. The dependent variable is the students’ ability in writing procedure text. In collecting the data, the researcher applied instrument: interview, questionnaire, Instagram application, writing pre-test and writing post-test. The data was analyzed statistically using T-test. The researcher examines two cycles of test. As the result in the first cycle, the pre-test average score of the control group is 44 and the experimental group is 45.5. In the first cycle of pot-test, the average score of the control group is 70 and the experimental group is 78. Both of them don’t get the Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimum (KKM) or the level of basic competence score which is 80. So, the second cycle of post-test is held. As the result, the average score of the control group is 74 and the experimental group is 82.5. The next cycle of post-test isn’t needed because the average score of the experimental group is already passed over the KKM. It means that, the use of Instagram picture series as teaching media has the significant positive impact to the improvement of the students’ ability in writing procedure text.

Haruki Murakami features some unique stylistic. One of the reasons could be the voluminous nature of a novel to apply stylistic analysis. However, if it is applied on a novel, one can better understand and enjoy the different styles used in a certain novel in addition to arousing curiosity for more studies. Not only arouse curiosity, according to some recent researches, stylistic analysis could serve as the best way to learning English as a foreign language for a pedagogy purpose. This article limits itsself to stylistic analysis of After Dark by Haruki Murakami. This novel contains 18 chapters and because of time constrains. this article will focus on selected chapters that are considered to be stylistically representative in the novel. Existing methods might be able to formulate ideas and thoughts based on scientific approaches. This study used literary stylistic analysis as the actual approach. Literary stylistic analysis was selected because it gave an apportunity to intergret linguistic description with critical interpretation. Based on the results of the analysis carried out on After Dark by Haruki Murakami, it can be concluded that the novel consists of figurative languange and syntactic language.

The background of this study is English Special Purpose, English Special Purpose has a specific term for each field. English has many functions in education or profession. English has many different purpose especially in Nurse Academy Program. Regarding to this case the teacher of English should be able to teach English for the students in Nursing Academy program with the appropriete teaching method. Based on the background of the study, the purpose of the study focuses to discribe the teaching method used by lecturer in nursing academy program and the responses’ students in English in their field. The Techniques of collecting data in this research are observation, interview and questionnaire. This is a qualitative research design the writer describe the data briefly. The result of observation and interview showed that Spiral Teaching Method was the teaching method used by the lecture in teaching English of Nursing Academy Program, the method was appropriete with the concept of English special purpose. Whereas, the results of the questionnaire explain about the resposes of the students showed that the student’s majority had a positive responses, it were showed that diagram were not presentage lower in 50% and the presentage was on 50% up to 100 % in each item question. The conclusion in this research is the lecturer implements method used to teach English for special purpose in nursing academy program very well and the students gave respond positively in English in their field.

This study was aimed to analyze Code Mixing and Code Switching between English and Indonesian Language Done by the Lecturer of Advance English Grammar Subject at the 5th Semester Students of STKIP PGRI Sidoarjo. The study was designed in the form of qualitative descriptive study. The subjects in this study were the lecturer in the 5th semester of students of STKIP PGRI Sidoarjo who teaches the Advance English Grammar subject. The data were collected by using the methods of recording and writing on note of what lecturer said in teaching learning process, then collected it and classified based on grammatical aspect of code mixing, code switching, sociolinguistic aspect, and the function (phatic function) of code mixing and code switching. A grammatical focused on the structural aspect of code mixing and code switching. While, a sociolinguistic approach was concerned with the role of social factors of code mixing and code switching. The result of this research showed that the grammatical aspect of code mixing and code switching are extra-sentential/tag mixing and switching, inter-sentential mixing and switching, and intra word of code mixing and code switching. Sociolinguistic aspects of code switching are situational and metaphorical switching. The functions of code switching were referential function, directive function, phatic function and metalinguistic function. But this study only focused on phatic function to clarify or emphasize a message. The achievement of this research can be used to make easier in teaching foreign language and can be used as additional source and also can develop code mixing and code switching field in the next research.

English language is a universal language which is spoken by most countries throughout the world. Teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) setting is challenging for teachers. They have to share the English knowledge based on the curriculum and be creative in developing activities in the class. One of the the approaches taught to learners is Communicative Language teaching(CLT) approach.. This study aimed to collect the information on teacher’s comprehension of Communicative Approach and describe the implementation of Communicative Approach conducted by the teachers. The subject of this study was five English teachers at Innovative Learning Center, Sidoarjo. The observer collected the data from questionnaires, interview and observation.The findings showed that 4 teachers (80%) understood about the communicative language teaching approach and all of them (100%) have conducted the communicative approach in the English teaching process.

This study was purposed to describe the implementaion of teaching writing recount text by using receipts and to describe students’ cognitive responds in writing recount text by using receipts as media. This study was quantitative research and used experimental method. The quasi experimental was used as the research design and test was the instrument. The students of the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 5 Sidoarjo were as the sample. The number of students in this study was 66 people that 33 people were experimental class students and 33 people were as controlled class students. The SPSS 20 was used to calculate the data. It was proven that sig.2 tailed (p) was for the test of hypothesis proved that sig. 2 tailed (p) was 0.049 while alpha (α) was 0.05. In other words, p < α. It meant that the Ho (Null Hypothesis) was denied and Ha (Alternative Hypothesis) was allowed. It was proven that it had a positive effect of using receipts to students’ writing skill of recount text. Moreover, the result of Cohen’s formulation calculation proved the effect size of receipts result was 0.49. It can be concluded that the effect of this treatment was modest effect.

The aim of this research were to describe the implementation of Using G - Suite Docs to Improve Students’ Writing Ability at SMA Negeri 1 Batuan, Sumenep and to find out the achievement of student’s writing ability in Using G - Suite at SMA Negeri 1 Batuan, Sumenep. The approach used in this research was classroom action research. Data collection tools in this study were observation sheets of learning management through G-Suite Docs media, student activity observation sheets and tests. The objects of this study were 25 students of class XII IPA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Batuan even semester of the 2020/2021 school year. The research showed that the result of implementing of using G-Suite Docs showed that the students were more enthusiastic in writing discussion text and all students could respond to their group work by commenting on the process in writing. Moreover, the students achievement from the initial conditions up to second cycle. The average of initial condition was 66.6 changed to be 79.64 or increased 80% with the result of completeness reaching 92%. Keywords: G - Suite Docs, Writing ability, Discussion Text

This research aimed to know whether by applying games and songs can increase students’ vocabulary. It was conducted at seventh grade of SMPN 8 Komodo. Games are a way to relax class routines for fun, games also can make students enthusiastic about playing, sometimes challenging. Songs be trusted to help students in memorizing vocabulary. Memorizing song can be used to increase students’ vocabulary. The students’ responses showed that they were interested in learning vocabulary through using games and songs. It can be seen from the students’ score on vocabulary test which increased from three vocabulary tests given in the Cycle I and Cycle II. In the students’ achievement Cycle I was 57,5 and Cycle II was 77,5. It can be concluded that games and songs have a significant impact on increasing students’ vocabulary number.

The aims of the study were to describe the implementation of teaching speaking by using Voice Notes; and to describe the student’s perceptions in teaching speaking using Voice Notes for second semester students at STKIP PGRI Sidoarjo. The method used descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were the lecturer and the 25 students second semester. The instruments were used Observation Check List, Handphone and Questionnaires. The findings of the implementation of teaching speaking by using Voice Notes for second semester students at STKIP PGRI Sidoarjo were first, Lecturer, distributed text and Voice Note to students thru Voice Note in WhatsApp, then explained to students about text of “A Tour Guide in the Everglades National Park”. Lecturer asked to translate all the text on the home work book, then asked the students to shadow and to follow the native speaker’s voice from Voice Note many times, until comprehended. Lecturer evaluated students’ speaking ability, the results were 32% students who got excellent scores, 52% students who got good scores, one student got average score 8% and students who got poor score 12%. While, the students’ perception results were 78,8% liked the implementation of teaching using Voice Note on the other hand 21,2% didn’t like the implementation of teaching using voice note.
