Abstract

Critical thinking skills in Mathematics learning are commonly only centred on typical students. Sometimes teachers forget that there are students with special needs who also need to study Mathematics; one of them are students with Asperger's Syndrome. Through this study, the researcher used the Montessori method to teach the plane geometry topic. The research method used was descriptive qualitative. The students observed were two students with Asperger's learning while applying the Montessori method. This study illustrated how the Montessori method was used to students with Asperger's syndrome and described the profile of students critical thinking suffering from Asperger's syndrome. The instruments in this study were the critical thinking test and field notes conducted by the research team. The results showed that the Montessori method seemed to make students with Asperger's Syndrome more expressive and willing to interact with the surrounding environment. They also had better motor skills and the critical thinking skills of the students were of high criteria. Besides, the aspects of freedom, integrating with the environment and the presence of playground tools, seem to make the Montessori method appropriate to be used use by students with Asperger's Syndrome.

Abstract

One of the problems often faced by students is the low ability to calculate multiplication operations. One of the causes of this condition is still a lack of understanding of the two-digit multiplication concept and the procedure for working on it. In line with this, the existence of this study is expected to overcome the low ability to calculate multiplication operations of students by applying the lattice method. The aim of this study is describe of using the lattice method in overcoming the low ability to calculate multiplication operations. This research is a qualitative study. The stages in this study are divided into several treatments, where each treatment students get treatment from the introduction of the lattice method to use the advanced lattice method. The results of this study show that students are very interested in the new methods they know. They were able to complete independently the multiplication operation after going through four treatments that had been given. At the end of the treatment the average student achieved was 84.30 with a percentage of completeness reaching 96.56% and his numeracy ability increased by 0.81 (high category).

Abstract

This research is intended to describe the learning design using interactive multimedia with the content in accordance with the 2013 curriculum which emphasizes character education and encourages students to utilize higher-order thinking skills. This interactive learning multimedia is based on problems. The research method used is a development research with an instructional design model, ADDIE. The instrument used in this study is problem solving and questionnaire tests. The results showed that problem-based interactive multimedia designed to be able to utilize high-level thinking skills, as seen from the evaluation results of students with 86.2% completeness. The response process of students and teachers after the implementation of learning with interactive multimedia based on problems showed a very good response.

Abstract

Abstract Teaching counting lessons to kindergarten students is often considered taboo. Some people assume that should not teach counting lessons to children who have not even reached the age of seven years. A long debate arose due to an elementary school admission test that contained numerical questions. Is it true that kindergarten students are not allowed to learn numeracy lesson? The purpose of this study is to introduce a montessori approach, a feasible approach used to teach the concept of counting in kindergarten students. This research is a qualitative descriptive research conducted on TK A Putera Zaman students. The research begins with the conduct of obeservasi and interview, then proceed with applying montessori approach in learning done with teacher in class. The results of the research with the stand on the opinion of Maria Montessori that the early age to the age of six years is the phase Absorbent Minds, the child's brain will continue to change, grow rapidly, and open to new stimuli, so kindergarten A students have learned to count. Some steps to embed the concept of counting to the students of Kindergarten A Putera Zaman can be done with the following delivery steps: (1) Introduction to quantity 1 - 10, (2) What is zero, (3) Matching numbers with quantity 0 - 10, (4) Relation of 1 – 10, (5) Basic sum operation, and (8) Basic reduction operation. The result of cultivating the concept of chopping with montessori approach is that students can use mathematics based on reasoning, not just counting without logic. Keywords: montessori, concept, whole number, counting atkindergarten

Abstract

Montessori is a learning method that uses the surrounding environment as a learning resource. This research is aimed at describing how the Montessori method is applied to Mathematics for students who survive Pervasive Developmental Disorder - Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS). The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were PDD-NOS grade V SD students in inclusive schools. The research instruments were documentation, observation, and interviews. The results showed that students with PDD-NOS who have delays in communication can more easily accept mathematics learning using the Montessori method. This is supported by the Montessori concept which allows PDD-NOS students to use lego in learning fractions.
