Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of scientific approach oriented learning  toward senior high school students scientific creativity. This learning was conducted in  XII grade  of SMA  Muhammadiyah 2 Surabaya by using  one-group pretest-posttest design. The methods of data collection were using observation, tests, and questionnaires. Data was analyzed using descriptive analysis quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that the learning is effective to enhance scientific creativity students based on N-gain and was significant stated through paired sample t-test. Then implementation of learning got students positive response. Overall, it can be concluded that scientific approach oriented learning was effective to train senior high school students scientific creativity.

Abstract

PhET Simulation could be an alternative learning media for subject which is need laboratory practices that could not be adapted well in distance learning during pandemic of Covid-19. This study attempts to describe the effectiveness of PhET Simulation as learning media for laboratory practices during pandemic. This research is pre experimental research using pre-test post-test design with 30 students as sample that was taken using saturated sampling technique. The effectiveness of PhET simulation is seen from student’s concept understanding, and student’s response. The instruments used in this study was students’ understanding concept test sheet and responses questionnaire. The effectiveness analysis of PhET Simulation that is integrated in distance learning was done by analyzing students’ pretest and post-test scores by using paired-sample t-test, n-gain score average, and students’ responses.  The results showed that there is significant increase of students’ concept understanding at α = 5%, the average N-gain of students concept understanding was 0.63 (medium), and also the implementation of PhET simulation achieved very positive responses. Overall, it can be concluded that the PhET simulation is effective as a learning media for laboratory practices during pandemic to improve students’ concept understanding.

Abstract

Students in the millennial era are very dependent on the internet so that all activities cannot be separated from handphones. This condition can be used in learning, to assign students to look for information on the internet in doing assignments, compiling papers, and during presentation discussions. This study aims to determine the difference in scientific literacy before and after learning with information search on biology topics. This research with one group pretest-posttest design involving 26 students of UIN Sunan Ampel. Data collection techniques with tests. Tests are given before and after learning with information search. Data analysis was done by t-test, ANOVA, and regression. The calculation of the n-gain value was also carried out to determine the increase in scientific literacy.  T-test shows there are differences in students' scientific literacy before and after learning with information search. Although different, the increase is still low because of the n-gain value of 0.28 (low category). Based on the results of the ANOVA test, it can be seen that are differences in the dimensions of content, process, and process. Tukey test obtained the highest average on the content dimension. Information search has the best effect on content learning so that the content dimension contributes the most to scientific literacy

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to train critical thinking and collaboration skills through the TPS (Thinking, Pairing and Sharing) learning model assisted by Quizizz. The results of pre-research interviews with science subject teachers revealed that learning had not optimally practiced critical thinking skills and collaboration. This study used a quantitative experimental method with a quasi-experimental group design, where data were collected through tests and questionnaires distributed to 64 VIII grade students as research samples. The instruments used in this study were critical thinking skills test using Quizizz, collaboration skills questionnaire instrument, and TPS cooperative syntax implementation observation sheet instrument. The results of the study showed that the implementation of TPS (Thinking, Pairing and Sharing) cooperative learning model assisted by Quizizz had a significant increase in critical thinking skills and collaboration. The data that has been obtained shows 0.000 <0.05, which means that there is a significant change between the control and experimental classes. HOTS questions can hone critical thinking in the evaluation phase while the study group stage fosters students’ collaboration skills. The average value of critical thinking skills between control and experimental classes shows a difference of 83.6%, while the value of collaboration skills has a difference of 11.6%.
