Abstract

Madagascar is one of the countries with the best geographical location in Sub-African, facing not only the Indian Ocean but also the Mozambique Strait. With the limitations it faces, the foreign policy made by Madagascar’s leaders can be a good strategy in articulating the interests of this country. In an article belonging to Bojang A.S, one of the determinants of foreign policy-making is domestic. It will guide the authors in analyzing the domestic determinants of Madagascar in determining its policy under the leadership of Andry Rajoelina. This article was written using a secondary-qualitative method by collecting and analyzing secondary data from accredited books, scientific articles, and news. This study compared existing data with guidelines (Bojang A.S.) and analyzed how these determinants produce Madagascar’s foreign policy. In the end, this article describes eight domestic determinants influencing Madagascar’s foreign policy under Rajoelina’s leadership.

Abstract

This paper discusses the attacks carried out by the British Colonial Government in Java with the Sultanate of Yogyakarta Hadiningrat which occurred from July 18 to July 20, 1812 AD. This study uses historical research methods that emphasize heuristic processes, verification, interpretation, and historiography. The results of this study explain that the background of the conflict originated from the unwillingness of Sultan Hamengkubuwono II to submit to the demands of Lieutenant Governor Raffles fully to the rules and political power of the British Empire in colonies. The strategy of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta was to consolidate regular troops and other troops to defend the Keraton and build military facilities by building weapons factories independently. The British took advantage of their indigenous allies, although they were few in number, with experience and qualified military capacity, they succeeded in controlling Yogyakarta.

Abstract

Conflict is unavoidable. Regardless of the nature of the conflict, war is the last alternative when the peace effort has failed to take. Russia's attack on Ukraine is the last stage in resolving the conflict due to the failure of peace negotiations between the two sides. This study aims to analyze the national interest of Russia in invading Ukraine through the perspective of realism. The method used in this research is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The data collection technique is secondary data through documentation or literature study. In this case, the researcher conducted previous research with the research topic studied from scientific articles in libraries and cyberspace. This study's results indicate an iceberg phenomenon in Russia's national interest in invading Ukrainian territory. Western expansion into the territory of Ukraine has created a security dilemma for Russia, so the war is used as momentum for Russia to achieve its national interests. Through the war, Russia played zero-sum to achieve its national interests, as a balance of power from Western powers, power expansion into the territory of Ukraine, and the power struggle. The armed conflict between the two countries is a challenge that must face by countries around the world, including Indonesia. In response to it, Indonesia used an independent-active principle based on Indonesia's national interests.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Pandemi Covid-19, Kekerasan Berbasis Gender Online, KBGO, Resolusi Konflik Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia has caused a significant shift in social interaction, redirecting face-to-face interaction into virtual/online interaction. This transition has indirectly brought up a new case of deviation, namely online gender-based violence (GBV). This research aims to analyze the dynamics of GBV cases during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia using a normative juridical research approach and qualitative data analysis obtained from literature studies. The results found that GBV cases are still difficult to minimize because the case resolution process is limited to the use of the ITE Law and Pornography Law, which have not provided legal certainty for victims and specific regulations that are integrated with victim recovery. Although ultimately, law enforcement certainty related to GBV cases experienced progress with the presence of Law No. 12 of 2022 concerning TPKS, GBV cases have not decreased significantly due to the lack of clarity regarding derivative rules and socialization of related laws. Therefore, other conflict resolution approaches are needed, one of which is integrative, transformative, and restorative approaches as an alternative to sustainable and inclusive case resolution. Keywords: Covid-19 Pandemic, Online Gender-Based Violence, GBV, Conflict Resolution.

Abstract

On 17 September 2021, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States signed the AUKUS agreement legitimizing the ownership and development of Australian nuclear-powered submarines. This has direct implications for Indonesia, which has a strategic position as a trade route. In response to this, Indonesia has taken several political steps at the regional level as well as in multilateral forums. This research is intended to analyze legal steps that can be taken by Indonesia to regulate the navigation and safety of nuclear-powered submarines considering that international maritime law instruments do not accommodate these concerns. Through a normative legal approach, using the theory of Critical Legal Studies and the Concept of Legal Politics, this research finds that Indonesia needs to regulate provisions for the navigation and safety of nuclear-powered submarines at the national level.
