Abstract

Introduction: In general the treatment of menstrual pain is divided into two categories, pharmacology and non-pharmacology. Non pharmacological pain management is safer to use because it does not cause side effects like drugs because non pharmacological therapy uses physiological processes. One of the non pharmacological pain management is a combination of effleurage massage technique and slow deep breathing. Massage effleurage is a movement using the entire surface of the hand that is rubbed lightly and soothingly. This technique aims to improve blood circulation, reduce pain, and stretch muscles as well as promote physical and mental relaxation. Dysmenorrhea that never goes away makes medical personnel, one of which is physiotherapy, very capable of playing an important role in handling it. The role of physiotherapy in cases of menstrual pain itself or dysmenorrhea is to help provide exercise therapy in the form of deep breathing exercises which are deep breathing techniques with the aim of increasing the amount of oxygen in the body and providing a relaxing effect on the body and education in the form of healthy lifestyle and healthy activities to reduce the consumption of analgesic drugs that have long-term dependency effects. Objective: This study was to describe the combination of effleurage massage technique and slow deep breathing of female students in reducing menstrual pain. to know the description of the combination of effleurage massage technique and slow deep breathing of female students in reducing menstrual pain.  Method: This study uses a descriptive research design. The sample in this study was determined using a quota sampling technique, namely as many as 32 respondents who fit the inclusion criteria. This study aims to analyze the effect of a combination of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) and Olive Oil on the reduction of random blood glucose (RBG) levels in diabetes mellitus patients in the working area of Baregbeg Health Center, Ciamis. This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 60 respondents were involved and proportionally divided into the intervention group and the control group. Participants in the intervention group were given a combination of VCO and Olive Oil at a dose of 25 ml/day for 7 days, while the control group continued their daily activities without any additional intervention. Measurement of GDS levels was conducted on the first and seventh days to monitor changes longitudinally. Based on the Wilcoxon statistical test, a statistically significant decrease in blood glucose levels was found in the intervention group with a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). On the contrary, the control group tended to experience an increase. It is concluded that the combination of VCO and Olive Oil significantly affects the reduction of blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus and has the potential to be used as a complementary therapy.

Abstract

Introduction: The postpartum period is a critical phase during which mothers undergo significant physiological and psychological changes that may increase their vulnerability to complications such as perineal wound infections. Perineal injuries remain one of the leading causes of postpartum infection, particularly in developing countries where access to health information and quality midwifery care is limited. Adequate maternal knowledge regarding perineal wound care is essential in preventing infection, promoting healing, and reducing morbidity. However, many postpartum mothers still lack proper understanding of wound care practices due to factors such as limited education, inadequate information sources, and insufficient counseling from healthcare providers. Objective: This study aimed to identify the factors influencing the level of knowledge of postpartum mothers regarding perineal wound care at the Independent Practice of Midwife E, Kalijati District, Subang Regency, in 2025. Method: A descriptive-analytic approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. A total of 35 respondents were selected using accidental sampling, and data were collected through structured, validated, and reliable questionnaires. Univariate analysis was conducted to describe respondent characteristics, while bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test examined correlations between variables. Result: The results showed that most respondents were greater than or equal to 25 years old, had intermediate education, were housewives, were multiparous, and primarily received information from healthcare workers. The majority had a fair level of knowledge (48.6%). Significant relationships were found between education level (p = 0.016) and information source (p = 0.027) with knowledge level, while age, occupation, and parity showed no significant associations. Conclusion: In conclusion, education and information sources are key determinants of postpartum mothers knowledge of perineal wound care. Strengthening health education by midwives is essential to enhance maternal understanding, prevent infection, and support optimal postpartum recovery.
