Abstract

Pengabdian dalam bentuk pendampingan kegiatan ini melibatkan dua dosen pembimbing dan dua mahasiswa program studi ekonomi syariah yang merupakan mahasiswa praktikan. Objek pemdampingan ini adalah perangkat desa di kabupaten Cilacap. BUSUU merupakan aplikasi pembelajaran online yang dapat di unduh di playstore dan bisa dioperasikan kapan saja dan dimana saja. Aplikasi ini sangat tepat digunakan oleh perangkat desa.  Pendampingan melalui media BUSUU ini diharapkan  mampu  meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara  para perangkat desa. Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh 25 peserta dari 19 desa yang berasal dari 2 kecamatan. Pelatihan dilaksanakan  selama  dua minggu secara blended (in-on-in)  selama  32  jam.  Setelah  selesai  pendampingan  kemampuan percakapan Bahasa Inggris peserta meningkat  Peserta  juga terlibat  aktif  dalam kegiatan  dengan antusiasme yang tinggi. Kata kunci: BUSUU, English learning application, percakapan, perangkat desa.

Abstract

This study is aimed at having critical analysis in teaching English as a foreign language which generally does not give much attention in teaching local culture especially intercultural communication. Promoting the character building as character education in the teaching learning process (TLP) is one of the instructional objectives. Commonly, the current belief in English TLP is only inserting foreign cultural values which do not always match with our own culture. Moreover, the exits activity and material do not represent character education. Here, for instance, there is an absence of explicit statements about character aspects that are needed to be included in students' activities. Dealing with the main learning objective (LO) of our national education, the current belief should be changed by integrating our local culture (Indonesian) in English TLP to achieve national education goals in promoting character building. It is mainly purposed to maintain, encourage and build spirit of nationalism individually or nationally. Keywords: character building, local culture, teaching English

Abstract

Higher Order thinking Skills (HOTS) refers to the ability to apply knowledge, skills and values in reasoning, reflection, problem solving, decision making, innovating and creating something new. Higher order thinking skills (HOTS) is a skill that should be present in every teaching. Teaching English particularly require teachers to be skillful in planning learning activities that can inculcate thinking skills among students. This study aims to explore the perceptions of English teachers in the implementation higher order thinking skills in teaching English. This is a qualitative case study involving three science teachers who teaches in government school, private school and private tutor center respectively. Data were collected through interviews only. Data were then categorized to form themes for the study. The focus of the study was teachers’ perspective, towards HOTS, its application, assessment of HOTS and the constraints. The results show that the teachers are aware and they are applying HOTS in their teaching. However, they believe they are hindered by some constraints. Therefore, this study concluded that knowledge and competence are crucial to ensure quality the implementation of HOTS. Keywords: Teaching efficacy, Evaluation, teaching English, Thinking skill

Abstract

This experimental study examines the use of the Three-Period Lesson, a teaching methodology commonly employed in early childhood education, to introduce English vocabulary to young learners. The study focuses on incorporating realia and flashcards as instructional tools to enhance language acquisition and retention. The research analyzes three stages of the Three-Period Lesson: introduction, association, and recall/reinforcement. The data were collected by interviewing two teachers and giving pre-test and post-test to the students. The data was analyzed by t-test table. The result of the post-test scores were better than the pre-test scores and formative scores. It could be seen by comparing their means. The means of the pre-test score was 51,92. The means of formative test score was 72, 76 while the post-test score was 74,57. It means that there is a significance difference in students‟ scores after they were given treatments using realia and flashcards. This study contributes to the field of early childhood education and language acquisition. The findings showed that the provide practical insights for educators seeking effective methods to introduce vocabulary to young learners, aiming to build a strong foundation in English language skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali informasi mengenai game online, konsentrasi belajar siswa, serta hubungan antara game online dan konsentrasi belajar pada siswa kelas IV MI PP-El Bayan Padangsari Majenang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian lapangan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 52 siswa. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah korelasi product moment. Dalam penelitian ini, terdapat dua variabel, yaitu variabel bebas (game online) dan variabel terikat (konsentrasi belajar siswa). Data dikumpulkan melalui metode observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan angket/kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan game online adalah sebuah permainan video yang dapat dimainkan oleh pemain melalui perangkat seperti komputer, laptop, smartphone, atau gadget. Terdapat dampak positif dan negatif dari bermain game online. Melalui analisis data, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara game online dan konsentrasi belajar siswa. Nilai signifikansi yang diperoleh (0,001) lebih kecil dari 0,05, menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang kuat antara kedua variabel tersebut.
