Abstract

The Islamic civilization in the era of classical Islamput science in a high position. At that time scholars did not distinguish between religious science and general science. But the principle of unity of knowledge then has faded and become a dichotomy of science when the Islamic civilization has declined. That fact is what stirs the anxiety of K.H. Imam Zarkasyi to affirm the principle of unity of knowledge because science is a unity which is derived from Allah. According to K.H. Imam Zarkasyi, the rise of Muslim civilization  is very dependent on the management of educational institution quality and solidity of Muslims. Efforts to modernize education are absolutely necessary to produce pious and knowledgeable graduates. Therefore, education curriculum at Pondok Modern Gontor applies of religious lessons and of general lessons. It is the consistency of this educational institution that is finally able to realize the implementation of advanced Islamic education which contributes to the revival of Islamic civilization.

Abstract

Nahdlatul Ulama, established on January 31, 1926, has affirmed his attitude of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah (Aswaja) by following al-Ash'ari and al-Maturidi. However, until now there has not been a comprehensive study of the arguments that form the backdrop of the theological decisions, but this issue is very urgent to find the answer. Everyone acknowledged the character, keulamaan, and heroism of KH Muhammad Hasyim Asy'ari. This paper describes the gait of the founder of Pesantren Tebu Ireng and also the Founding Fathers of Nahdlatul Ulama in defending Aswaja and analyzing the motivation behind it by using the theory of action motif according to Weber's perspective. By reviewing his works collected in Irshad al-Sary fi Jam 'Mushannafat al-Shaykh Hashim Ash'ari, it can be stated that KH Hasyim Asy'ari's argument for choosing Aswaja is his belief in the truth of Aswaja as the most surviving Islamic school of madhhab -the other theological ideology, Aswaja's position as al-sawad al-a'zham (the majority school of Muslims), and his understanding that maintaining Aswaja is a duty of the Muslims. Thus, the motivation tends to be based on religious values ​​in order to achieve goals according to normative idealism. The success of KH Hasyim Asy'ari in strengthening Aswaja with its moderating characteristics in Indonesia should be continued by Indonesian Muslims to be role models in promoting moderate and tolerant Islam.

Abstract

Gelar sebagai pahlawan, al-Syaikh al-Akbar, al-Rais al-Akbar, dan Hadlratusy Syaikh yang disandang oleh KH Muhammad Hasyim Asy’ari menunjukkkan betapa besarnya kontribusi tokoh ini dalam perjuangan kemerdekaan Indonesia dan dakwah Islam di Indonesia. Di antara metode dakwah pendiri Nahdlatul Ulama itu adalah melalui penulisan berbagai karya intelektual, misalnya al-Nûr al-Mubîn fi Mahabbah Sayyid al-Mursalîn. Keunikan karya tersebut terletak pada sistematikanya yang mengkombinasikan pemaparan mengenai Sirah Nabawiyyah dan keabsahan amaliah Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah yang sekaligus menegaskan pembelaan terbuka terhadap tradisi kalangan NU. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan eksplanasi historis KH Muhammad Hasyim Asy’ari tentang peristiwa-peristiwa berkaitan dengan biografi Nabi Muhammad saw dan argumentasi ilmiahnya mengenai tradisi-tradisi Aswaja NU. Melalui library research dengan metode dokumentasi dan content analysis, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa KH Muhammad Hasyim Asy’ari telah bersungguh-sungguh mendorong umat Islam agar mencintai dan meneladani Nabi Muhammad saw dengan merujuk al-Qur’an, hadis Nabi saw, buku-buku Sirah Nabawiyyah, dan referensi penunjang lainnya yang relevan, meskipun eksplanasi historisnya tidak terlalu mendetail mengenai peristiwa sejarah kehidupan Nabi saw. Adapun pemaparannya mengenai tradisi Aswaja ditunjukkan ketika menjelaskan keimanan kepada Nabi Muhammad saw dan tradisi keagamaan berkaitan dengan tawassul, syafa’at, dan istighatsah yang didasarkan pada argumentasi teologisnya.

Abstract

There was a harmonious relation between Muslims and non-Muslims in the era of classical Islam, especially in the Abbasid dynasty. The Abbasids achieved the golden age of Islamic civilization because of their religious tolerance. Many non-Muslim scholars contributed their valuable works to intellectual achievement during the Abbasid reign. This paper expects to give an inspirative viewpoint on the relationship between Muslim and non-Muslim communities. Indonesia and its plural characteristic should build a harmonious multicultural relationship to imitate Abbasid achievements. Indonesia with its Muslim majority must prove that Islam is moderate and tolerant. Indonesian government together with all Islamic organizations and their followers should promote tolerant Islamic teachings, such as through multicultural Islamic education.

Abstract

Wacana jabatan presiden tiga periode ditanggapi secara serius oleh publik dan memunculkan perdebatan banyak politikus dan budayawan yang salah satunya adalah Muhammad Ainun Nadjib. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan analisis teks wacana dalam video “Presiden Seumur Hidup” di akun YouTube CakNun.com, kognisi sosial pemilik akun CakNun.com, dan konteks sosial yang berkembang di masyarakat. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk memperoleh data, kemudian melakukan pengumpulan data melalui observasi dan dokumentasi, selanjutnya data tersebut dianalisis menggunakan analisis wacana kritis Teun A. Van Dijk. Hasil penelitian sebagai berikut. Pertama, dalam analisis teks, tema teks adalah penolakan wacana presiden tiga periode. Kedua, analisis kognisi sosial yang mempengaruhi, yaitu nilai demokrasi yang dipegang erat sebagai ideologi dan pengalaman dalam peristiwa pelengseran Presiden Soeharto yang berkuasa 32 tahun. Ketiga, analisis konteks sosial meliputi dua faktor, yaitu praktik kekuasaan dan akses yang mempengaruhi wacana yang ditimbulkan karena pengaruh Muhammad Ainun Nadjib dan wacana presiden tiga periode.
