Abstract

The technique of secreting breast milk can be influenced by two factors: production and secretion. Breast milk production is influenced by prolactin hormone while secretion is influenced by oxytocin hormone. The suggested technique is by using hands and fingers because they are practical, effective, and efficient, compared with using pumps. If this technique is done effectively and accurately, there will be no problem in producing breast milk and the technique of secreting it so that babies can always obtain breast milk. The objective of the research was to find out the effectiveness in the technique of secreting breast milk on breast milk production in post-partum women.       The research used pre-experimental method with One-Shot Case Study (X O) design. The population was 30 primipara post-partum women who had normal childbirth in Klinik Dermawati, Klinik Tanjung, and Klinik Nurhalma, Medan, and all of them were used as the samples (total population). The data were analyzed by using ANOVA test.             The result of the research showed that there was the difference in the technique of secreting breast milk on its production at p-value=0.002. The technique of secreting it by doing oxytocin massage was more effective on its production than using marmet technique and warm compress, viewed from the mean value of oxytocin massage which was higher (171.00) and standard deviation of 5.676 than using marmet technique at the mean value of 166.00 and standard deviation of 4.595 and using warm compress at the mean value of 160.50 and standard deviation of 7.246. The group which was significantly different was the technique of oxytocin massage and warm compress (p=0.002) which indicated that there was the difference in action which was done on breasts.                 It is recommended that the Health Agency of Medan collaborate with the Indonesian Midwife Association to make oxytocin permanent procedure as post-partum service and provide counseling for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Abstract

Labor pain can cause stress which causes the release of excessive hormones such as catecholamines and steroids. Pain in labor can also cause hyperventilation so that oxygen needs increase, increase blood pressure, and decrease intestinal motility and urinary vesicles. Heat Therapy and Endorphine Massage is a non-pharmacological method that is thought to be effective in reducing labor pain. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of heat therapy and endorphin massage on the intensity of pain in the first active phase of normal labor in primiparous mothers at the Pematangsiantar city BPM. The type of research used is quasi-experimental. The population of this study was primiparous maternity during the active phase I who experienced normal labor in the Pematangsiantar City Independent Practice Midwife. The research sample consisted of two groups of 20 respondents each taken by purposive sampling technique, and certain inclusion criteria. The sampling technique was accidental sampling in April - June 2015, through interviews using questionnaires and the scale of pain measurement numerical rating scales (NRS). Analysis of the data used with T-Test on normal distributed data using Wilxocon and U Mann Whitney on data with abnormal distribution. The technique of heat therapy and endorphine massage is a non-pharmacological therapy that can reduce pain intensity during the first active phase of labor. There is the influence of heat therapy and endorphine massage on pain intensity during the first active phase in primiparous mothers with a value of p = 0.001. There is no difference in the effectiveness of heat therapy and endorphine massage techniques in reducing pain intensity during the first active phase in primiparous mothers. Midwives should be able to apply heat therapy techniques and endorphine massage to reduce pain intensity during the first active phase of labor and can also teach it to family / childbirth assistants. Abstract

Understanding child development is an important aspect that parents must have to optimize child development. Lack of stimulation from parents can cause developmental delays in children. Temper tantrums are unpleasant and disturbing emotional outbursts. The consequences of temper tantrums, for example, a child who vents his frustration by rolling on a hard floor, can cause the child to become injured, venting his anger by hitting his head against the wall, pulling out his hair, and endangering people around him. Temper tantrums can hurt a child’s development, especially if not handled properly. This research aims to determine “The correlation between maternal knowledge and the incidence of temper tantrums in toddlers at the Patumbak Community Health Center in 2024”. This research was quantitative analytical research using cross-sectional analysis. Held from February to March 2024 in the Patumbak Community Health Center working area in 2024. The population was 120 people, and the sample size was 55 using the accidental sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire, and univariate data processing is presented in the form of a frequency distribution table followed by bivariate analysis using SPSS vs 25, then presented descriptively and analytically through statistical tests. The survey results showed that the majority of mothers’ knowledge about temper tantrums in toddler-aged children at the Patumbak Community Health Center was 21 people (38.2%) with poor knowledge, 19 people (34.5%) with sufficient knowledge, and 15 people (27.3%) with good knowledge. From the results of the chi-square test, the value P (0.000) < (0.05) was obtained, which concluded that there was a correlation between maternal knowledge and the incidence of temper tantrums in toddlers at the Patumbak Community Health Center.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of reproductive health counseling on adolescents' knowledge regarding premarital sex. Reproductive health counseling serves as an educational tool to improve adolescents' understanding of reproductive health issues, aiming to reduce the prevalence of risky sexual behaviors and the negative consequences associated with premarital sex, such as sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unintended pregnancies. A pre-experimental design was employed, utilizing a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 81 adolescents selected from a population of 433 students at MAN 2 Deli Serdang in 2023. Data was collected through direct engagement with participants, who completed a structured questionnaire to assess their knowledge before and after the counseling sessions. The findings indicate a significant improvement in adolescents' knowledge levels after receiving reproductive health counseling. The analysis, conducted using a paired sample T-test via SPSS, resulted in a p-value of 0.000, indicating a statistically significant difference between pre-counseling and post-counseling knowledge levels (p < 0.05). This suggests that reproductive health counseling effectively increased the adolescents' knowledge about premarital sex. The study concludes that reproductive health counseling positively impacts the level of knowledge regarding premarital sex among adolescents at MAN 2 Deli Serdang. It is recommended that school authorities collaborate with healthcare centers to facilitate regular educational sessions, ensuring that adolescents are well-informed about reproductive health and the risks associated with premarital sexual activities.
