Abstract

This study is based on the problems that exist in SMAN 1 Pariaman, namely: textbooks that are used have not involved students playing an active role in learning, the learning model that is applied is still monotonous, student notebooks are incomplete and textbooks used in schools are not yet available examples -example/images according to the demands of Basic Competence to clarify the material description. Efforts can be made is the application of biological modules with a scientific approach equipped with a glossary in discovery learning models on the competencies of students in Class X of SMAN 1 Pariaman.The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of biological modules with a scientific approach equipped with a glossary in discovery learning models on the competencies of students in Class X of SMAN 1 Pariaman. This study was a quasi-experimental study with a randomized posttest control group design. The study population was tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Pariaman 2018/2019 academic year consisting of seven classes. The research sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique, the results of which were selected Class X MIPA 2 as the experimental class and Class X MIPA 3 as the control class.The results of data analysis found that the knowledge competency data was normal and not homogeneous, competency data on attitudes, and homogeneous and normal student skills. Hypothesis test results are known that knowledge competencies (7.06>1.67), attitude competence (0.76<1.67), and skill competencies (0.925<1.67), so it can be concluded that the biological module with a scientific approach is equipped The glossary in discovery learning  models has a positive influence on students 'knowledge competencies but does not have a positive influence on the competency of students' attitudes and skills at SMAN 1 Pariaman.

Abstract

The low level of students’ science learning competencies at grade VII in Junior High School 16 Padang is caused by several factors, one of them is the learning process still used teacher-centered, so the students tend to inactive in the learning process. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct an innovative learning process in order to improve students’ competencies, knowledge, attitudes and skill. One of the method that can be used by the teacher is by implementing the Discovery Learning Model preceded by making concept map homework. Making concept map homework is expected can improve students’ learning activities in science. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the Discovery Learning model  preceded by making concept map homework through students’ learning competencies in science (knowledge, attitudes and skill) at grade VII in Junior High School 16 Padang.  Based on the hypothesis, it is known that the knowledge competency tcount  >  ttable (5,96 > 1,67), the attitude competency tcount > ttable (6,36 > 1,67) and the skill competency tcount  >  ttable (1,69 > 1,67). The result of the study show that the hypothesis is accepted. Thus it can be concluded that the implementation of the Discovery Learning model preceded by the making concept maps homework can improve students’ science learning competences (knowledge, attitudes and skill) at grade VII in Junior High School 16 Padang.

Abstract

Misconceptions is a concept that doesn’t suitable with the concept recognized by expert. Misconceptions whom occur in students’ selves prohibit the formed of relation with new concepts and disrupt the realization of learning process. Therefore, misconceptions needs to be known by teacher and folloed up early. The aim of this research is to identify the misconception on the concepts of food digestive system material in humans which experienced by second class at SMP 15 Padang. This research is a descriptive research which conducted at SMP 15 Padang. The populations of this research are 221 students of second class. The sample is 22,5% of 221 members of populations, which is 50 members.the tacking of sampling used simple random sampling technique. The data used are primary data which taking by two tier multiple choice and analyzed through quantitative technique analysis by percentage.         Based on the results of the study, it seen that the highest misconception is the type of food ingredients and its content by 38%, digestive organs (digestive glands and glands) by 49%, the structure and function of the digestive organs by 38%, the relationship between structure and bioprocess in digestive organs by 46.75%, indicator of mechanical and chemical digestion by 50%, disorders / diseases of the digestive system by 49%, and the Thus it can be concluded that there is a misconception in Class VIII students of SMP 15 Padang about the food digestive system material in humans with varying percentages.

Abstract

The low learning competencies of students is caused by several problems found during  learning process, one of them  is teacher centered. Learning through  this way causes students to be inactive. One of the efforts made to improve student learning competencies is to apply a Problem Based Learning model. Learning with a problem based learning model requires students to be active. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of applying the Problem Based Learning model to the learning competencies of Class VIII at SMPN 2 Padang Panjang.The type of this research is an experimental study with a control group posttest only design. The study population is  all students of Class VIII SMPN 2 Padang Panjang. Sampling was done using purposive sampling technique, which was chosen as the research sample was Class VIII D as the experimental class and Class VIII E as the control class. The instruments used were in the form of posttest questions for knowledge competencies, observation sheets for attitude and skills competencies. The data analysis technique used in this study is the normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis testing with t-test.Result of hypothesis in both class sample, found that class which use Problem Based Learning model have possitive effect to student learning competencies of Class VIII SMPN 2 Padang Panjang such asknowledge, attitude and skill competencies.

Abstract

This research is based on the problems by science teachers, namely the daily test scores of students, more than 50% of students get scores below the minimum completeness criteria. The purpose of this study is (1) to reveal the presence or absence of differences in learning outcomes between students who are taught using a cooperative learning model type Group Investigation (GI) with students who are taught using conventional learning models, (2) reveal the presence or absence of scientific attitude differences, among students who are taught to use a cooperative learning model type of Group Investigation (GI) with students who are taught using conventional learning models. This research is an experimental study with the research Static Group Comparison Design. The subjects in this study were 8th grade students of the 11th Junior High School in Padang 2018/2019 in 64 students. The research instrument used was in the form of posttest for knowledge competencies, observation sheets for attitude and skills competencies.The hypothesis in this study was tested using the t ^ test. The results of the t-test are known that in the competency of knowledge t count 2.18> t table 2.04, the competency attitude t count 3.36> t table 2.04, while the competency skills t count 1.40 <t table. This shows that the hypothesis is accepted for knowledge and attitude competencies. So it can be concluded that the application of the Group Investigation learning model can improve student learning competencies in the material of Excretion Systems at Padang 11 Public Middle School with a confidence level of 0.975

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the Discovery Learning model through students’ learning competencies in science (knowledge, attitudes and skill) at grade VII in Junior High School 16 Padang. This type of research is experimental research with a control group posttest only design. The population in this study were all class VII SMPN 16 Padang registered in the 2018/2019. Sampling was done using technique purposive sampling, which was chosen as the sample of the study was class VII.5 as the experimental and VII.2 as the control class. The instruments used were in the form of questions posttest for knowledge competencies, observation sheets for attitide and skills. The hypothesis was tested using the t-test, can be concluded that the competencies of learners knowledge tcount 5,96 > ttable 1,67, the competencies of attitude value tcount 6,36 > ttable 1,67, and the competencies of skills value tcount1,69 >  ttable1,67. This shows that the hypothesis is accepted. Concluded that the application of model the Discovery Learning has a positive effect on students’ science learning competency of knowledge, attitudes and skills of class VII students of SMPN 16 Padang.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of the low skills of problem solving students. In the learning process the teacher rarely trains students problem solving skills and currently Science literacy in Indonesia is low compared to other countries. The results of the preliminary test showed that the average problem solving skills of students was less than 50%. This study aims to look at the effect of the problem solving model on problem solving skills of grade VII students of SMPN 34 Padang. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with the Control Group Posttest Only Design. The study population was VII grade students of 34 SMPN Padang in the 2018/2019 academic year. The research sample of students in class VII 4 as the experimental class and VII 5 as the control class. Sampling using a porposive sampling technique. Instruments in the form of observation sheets observation of student activities to obtain data problem solving skills, observation sheets to obtain scientific attitude data, question sheets to obtain knowledge data. Based on the results of the students' knowledge competency research, the tcount 2,24> ttable 1,67. The activity of problem solving skills of students in the experimental class is higher than the control class. The conclusion of the study is that the application of the problem solving model has a positive effect on problem solving skills of grade VII students of SMPN 34 Padang.
