Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada kemampuan berbicara siswa antara kegiatan belajar mengajar menggunakan teknik clamshell dan teknik grup diskusi. Control group pretest posttest design adalah desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kegiatan belajar mengajar menggunakan teknik clamshell dan teknik grup diskusi dengan level signifikansi (0.0040.05). Teknik clamshell memiliki hasil peningkatan nilai yang lebih besar dibandingkan dengan teknik grup diskusi. Sehingganya, dapat disarankan bahwa mengajar berbicara melalui teknik clamshell dan teknik grup diskusi membuat siswa menjadi lebih aktif.This research was aimed to find out whether there was a statistically significant difference of students’ speaking ability between those who were taught through clamshell technique and those who were taught through a small group discussion. Control group pretest posttest design was used in this research. The data were obtained from pre-test and post test. The result showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the students who were taught through clamshell technique and small group discussion with the significant level (0.0040.05). The increase of posttest and pretest of clamshell technique is higher than a small group discussion. This suggests that teaching speaking through clamshell technique and a small group discussion facilitates the students to be more active.Keywords: clamshell technique, small group discussion, teaching speaking

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan teknik talking chipmeningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalahpenelitian kuantitatif. Tes berbicara digunakan sebagai instrument pengambilandata. Subyek penelitian ini adalah 70 siswa kelas sebelas pada siswa sekolahmenengah atas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara statistik adapeningkatan yang signifakan dalam peningkatan berbicara siswa setelah siswadiajarkan menggunakan teknik talking chip. Penelitian ini menyarankan bahwateknik talking chip memfasilitasi siswa untuk meningkatkan pencapaian.The aim ofthis study was to find out whether the use of talking chip techniqueimproved the students speaking ability. The approach of this study wasquantitative. Speaking tests were used as the instrument to elicit the data.Thesubjects of this study were 70 second grade students of senior high schoolstudents. The result showed that there was a statistically significant improvementof studentsspeaking achievement after the students were taught through talkingthe chip technique. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengamati sejauh mana pelaksanaan pembelajaran kolaboratif dalam kurikulum 2013, karakteristik kolaboratif yang banyak muncul, teknik kolaboratif yang banyak dipakai, dan masalah yang temukan oleh guru. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan di kelas 7-8 SMPN 2 Bandar Lampung. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah, observasi, kuisioner, dan interview. Pembelajaran kolaboratif telah 81.11% diterapkan dan pendekatan ilmiah juga diterapkan sesuai dengan anjuran kurikulum 2103, karakteristik kolaboratif yang paling banyak muncul adalah interaksi suportif dengan 83.33%, teknik pembelajaran kolaboratif yang paling sering diterapkan adalah teknik penyelesaian masalah, dan masalah yang ditemukan oleh guru adalah ada beberapa siswa yang masih pasif dan kurang memiliki dasar kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang baik. Pembelajaran kolaboratif memungkinkan siswa untuk lebih aktif, namun guru disarankan menggunakan media yang menarik dalam pembelajaran kolaboratif dan lebih perhatian terhadap perkembangan siswa. The objectives are to observe, how far the collaborative learning is implemented in the application of curriculum 2013, which characteristics appear the most, which technique that is mostly used, and what difficulties are found by the teacher found. This research employed descriptive qualitative method. The research was conducted at SMPN 2 Bandar Lampung at class 7-8. The research instruments are observation, questionnaire and interview. The collaborative learning class was implemented around 81.11% and the teacher also implemented the scientific approach, the supportive interaction appeared the most, with 83.33%, the problem-solving technique was implemented the most during the learning process, the teachers’ difficulties were, there were still some passive students and students who did not have the basic English skill. The collaborative learning technique enabled the students to be more active. The teachers are suggested to use interesting media to support the collaborative learning class and be more attentive towards the students.Keywords: aspect, collaborative learning, curriculum 2013.

Abstract

This quantitative research was conducted to investigate the use of picture series through WhatsApp could give positive impact on the students’ writing in descriptive text. The samples of this research were the second-grade students of SMPN 34 Bandar Lampung. The researcher used experimental group design which applied pretest and posttest as the instruments. Besides, there were two meetings as the treatment. The data were analyzed by using Repeated measure T-Test. The result showed that there was significant improvement on students’ writing after the implementation of picture series. The mean of the pretest was increased from 61.13 in the first test to 70.73 in the second test. Moreover, the gain of the test was quite high by having the number of 9.6. Then, the statistical calculation of the students’ score also showed that the t-table was higher than the t-table (10.298 2.052). The highest aspect that improved the most was organization. The mean for this aspect was increased from 14.12 (pretest) to 17.50 (posttest) with the score of the gain was 0.5762. Briefly, it could be concluded that the H1 is accepted and the H0 is rejected.doi: https://dx.doi.org/10.23960/UJET.v10.i4.202101

Abstract

The research objectives were to find  out (i) whether online learning using Rubelmu has a significant difference on students’ vocabulary mastery at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandarlampung and (ii) the students’ perceptions of online learning using Rubelmu. This was quantitative research with one pretest-posttest design. The subjects use 30 samples taken from the second grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandarlampung. The one group gathered from the result of pretest-posttest to measure the significance difference were collected through the pretest and the post test. Questionnaires were used to find the students’ perceptions. The data collected were compared by using SPSS. The outcome showed that online learning using Rubelmu had a significant difference on students’ vocabulary mastery. There was an improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery based on the gain of mean score score that was indicatively increased from 59.5 to 80.5. Questionnaire was distributed to measure the students’ perception about Rubelmu. Abstract

The objectives of this research were to find out whether teaching by using crossword puzzle could give improvement toward students’ vocabulary mastery and to find out the students responses after teaching vocabulary by using crossword puzzle. It was conducted at the first grade of SMPN 3 Natar, in academic year 2021/2022. The 7B Class which consists of 30 students were chosen as sample of this research. The study was quantitative approach with the design of one group pre-test and post-test design. The instruments used in this research were vocabulary test that consisted pre-test and post-test and questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 22.0. The result of this research showed that crossword puzzle could improve students’ vocabulary mastery. It could be seen from the result of t-value (11.199) was higher than t-table (2.045) with the value of significant level 0.00 0.05 which indicates that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. Moreover, the mean score of pre-test was (75.51) and the mean score of post-test was (84.43) it means that the students improved about (8.91) with the N-gain was (0.38). In addition, the result of students’ response showed that students gave positive response after the implementation of crossword puzzle game in teaching English. It could be seen from the result of the total score of the questionnaire of which the students mostly choose strongly agree and agree statements.
