Abstract

The objectives of this research were to know how flipped classroom can give an effect to students’ activeness in the class, and to see students’ achievement in experiencing flipped classroom method. In this research, I used the descriptive qualitative method. The kind of method was used to feel the experience the real world, and also to know people’s point of view of a certain phenomenon. It was also used to obtain the truthful, precise, and well-organized explanation about students’ activeness and students’ achievement in experiencing flipped writing class. The research was done at Writing III class of English Education Study Program of Teaching and Training Education of Universitas Bandar Lampung that consisted of twenty-four students. The data were gathered by observation and questionnaire, and those were also analysed by combining the result of observation and questionnaire in several paragraphs. The result of this research showed that when this method firstly implemented, students felt confused of what they should do in the class, but the class in the end ran successfully. From the questionnaire result also showed mostly positive feedbacks in experiencing flipped method, but there are also some negative feedbacks are given in it. The combination of those two instruments is that flipped classroom method is able to facilitate them in writing class. They mostly agreed this method could make them more interested in this class, and it could help them in improving their skills, also it could awake them that they need to be more responsible of their own learning in the class.

Abstract

Computer has been widely use in all over the world. The functions of computer and modern technologies have influenced many educational institutions in developing networking language teaching learning processes that link participants from any places to join such learning processes. This situation of language learning is called distance language learning. It leads the participants or learners to be independence and responsible to their learning process, their self-assessment, self-actualization, and self-evaluation that bring them to the practices of promoting the autonomy. Thus, this paper tries to dig out how distance language learning influences language learning processes in promoting learners’ autonomy.

Abstract

In this modern era, people can easily get information from anywhere and anytime. People can also express their opinions and thoughts about a topic, for example about jokes. There are so many genres or types of jokes, one of them is dark jokes. Dark joke is a form of humor involving a twist or joke making the joke seen as offensive, harsh, horrid. Because of that, some people argue that dark jokes should not be used in daily life. The aim of this research is to analyze the students’ perception about using dark jokes in daily conversation English Department of Universitas Bandar Lampung and analyze some aspects of perception that affect students’ perception about using dark jokes in daily conversation. This research used case study method. The research was done at English Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Universitas Bandar Lampung in all semester. Data gathering was done by doing questionnaire and interview to nine students. The data was analyzed by combining the result from the questionnaire and interview. The results of this research elucidated that they have mix perception towards dark joke and using it in daily conversation. Some of them concur and some of them disagree that dark joke can be used in daily conversation.

Abstract

This article research is about to see the use of English storybook, to describe how storybook is being read in the learning process. The method used is classroom activity especially in student’s responses. The data collected through observation and interview. The observation is about the learning process between teacher and students in the use of reading storybook on children’s vocabulary mastery and the interview is about the teacher’s point of view about the use of reading storybook on children’s vocabulary mastery. The research used descriptive analysis. The process to analyze the data is by observing the student and teacher learning process in the class when the teacher reading storybook through learning process recording done. There are five aspects used to know the student’s responses in the classroom; academic aspects, aspects of thoughts, skill aspects, attitude aspects, and works of habit. The research findings show that children’s storybook can increase children’s vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the students learning motivation when they experience blended learning. Researchers only focus on clarifying student motivation when using blended learning system and the factors of blended learning affect motivation at third semester of English Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Universitas Bandar Lampung. This research used case study method. The research was done at English Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Universitas Bandar Lampung consisisted of forty six students. Data gathering was done by doing questionnaire and interview. The data was analyzed by combining the result from the questionnaire and interview. The result of this research showed that learning with the blended learning system can motivate students learning. The combination of both instruments is that blended learning system helps them to motivating in learning. They mostly agreed that this learning system could make them more interested in learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of the Padlet application had a significant impact on the writing ability of Tenth grade students at SMA Yadika Bandar Lampung. In this study, the researchers uses quantitative research. The study technique employed a quasi-experimental design, and the therapy consisted of three encounters. The basic skills of the pupils are ascertained through a pre-test in this approach prior to therapy. The study's target demographic was the tentth grade at SMA Yadika Bandar Lampung. Science One and Science Two were the two courses from which the samples were obtained. The author uses testing tools to construct descriptive stories about historical sites to collect data for pre-testing and post-testing. The findings indicated that the outcomes of creating descriptive prose were impacted by the Padlet application. The increase in the average score obtained from the pre-test results from 60.15 to 78.09 in the post-test results proves this. The results of hypothesis testing, which is 0.000 less than the Sig value of 0.05, also supports it. In other words, the Padlet application affects the students at SMA Yadika Bandar Lampung in the tenth grade's descriptive text writing skills Keywords: Descriptive Text, Padlet Application, Writing Ability

Abstract

The experiences of students engaged in the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program under the English Education Study Program at FKIP Universitas Bandar Lampung are the main emphasis of this study. The main goal is to find out how these kids view and negotiate the program, which is meant to provide learning chances outside the conventional classroom setting, thereby improving both soft and hard abilities. Descriptive analysis was used in a qualitative research approach with which an in-depth knowledge of the experiences of the students could be obtained. Purposive sampling was used in the study to choose four students—one male and three female actively participating in the MBKM program. One month of observation and one-month of interviews comprised the data collecting process. Twice a week observations were undertaken, and students were free to carefully communicate their experiences thanks to WhatsApp interviews. According to the study, the MBKM program offers students useful chances for experiential learning, so promoting critical thinking, creativity, and useful skills development. Still highlighted, though, were difficulties with time management and adjusting to different learning contexts. The results imply that although the MBKM program has great potential to improve educational results, successful implementation of it depends on careful attention of students' requirements and limits

Abstract

This research analyzes students' perceptions regarding the implementation of strategies for developing speaking skills through an Merdeka Curriculum in the eleventh grade at SMA Yadika Bandar Lampung using a qualitative approach. The aim of this research is to determine students' perceptions regarding the implementation of strategies to improve learning skills through the application of Merdeka learning at school. The research method used was a qualitative descriptive method with a population of 103 class XI students. Data will be collected through questionnaires and interviews. There are 3 strategies that will be studied, namely games, role play and group discussions. The goal that researchers want to achieve is to find out the effectiveness of each strategy implemented through student perceptions. Data analysis revealed that students had varying views about the effectiveness of the teaching strategies implemented by teachers. Although many of them admit the importance of this strategy in improving speaking abilities. Because this really affects the class atmosphere and students' confidence in speaking. This research concludes that most students think games can help them improve their speaking skills, starting from self-confidence, motivation, class atmosphere, mastery of material and other aspects of speaking. The implications of this research can help teachers and policy makers to develop more effective teaching strategies in facing the demands of the Merdeka Curriculum to develop students' speaking skills at SMA YADIKA BANDAR LAMPUNG.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of utilizing the Xmind Application as a tool for enhancing students' writing skills, specifically in the genre of analytical exposition text. The research was conducted at SMA Perintis 1 Bandar Lampung, focusing on the impact of integrating Xmind Application into the writing instruction process. The research employed a quasi-experimental design, with a pre-test and post-test control group to assess the writing performance of students. A sample of students was selected, and they were divided into two groups: the experimental group, which received writing instruction using the Xmind application, and the control group, which followed traditional writing instruction methods. The findings reveal a significant improvement in the writing skills of students who were exposed to the Xmind Application. The application's visual mapping and organizational features contributed to a more systematic development of ideas and arguments in analytical exposition texts. Moreover, students in the experimental group demonstrated increased engagement and motivation in the writing process.
