Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus bacteria are resistant to several kinds of antibiotics, so there is a need for natural antibiotics derived from plants, namely aloe vera. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of aloe vera leaf extract in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The type of research used was experimental using the disc diffusion method with a total of 25 samples with five concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% then the data were analyzed using the One Way ANOVA test. The result is that aloe vera extract can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, it is proven by the presence of a disc zone at 100% concentration with a diameter of 11.5 mm. The results of statistical analysis with the One Way ANOVA test, in a value of 0.000, meaning that there was a significant difference. The conclusion obtained is that aloe vera extract can slow down the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria but based on the standard value of sensitivity of an aloe vera extract bacteria with the highest concentration it cannot be used as an antibiotic because it is less than the standard value of 14 mm.

Abstract

Esherichia coli adalah bakteri dari famili Enterobacteriacea, perjalanan terjadinya penyakit yang diakibatkan oleh Escherichia coli  paling sering terjadi karena kurangnya sanitasi lingkungan, kebersihan pribadi yang buruk khususnya pada penyaji atau penjual, menyebabkan kontaminasi, kualitas mikrobiologi makanan jajanan dapat ditentukan berdasarkan  nilai  MPN dan TPC. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui cara analisis bakteri Escherichia coli pada es kacang merah menggunakan metode TPC dan MPN. Jenis penelitian ini dilakukan dalam bentuk ekperimental. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 10-16 April 2021 di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi Balai Besar Laboratorium Kesehatan Kota Palembang yang berjumlah 10 sampel es kacang merah. Didapatkan hasil penelitian menggunakan uji alternatif  Mann-Whitney dengan nilai P=0,11 artinya tidak terdapat nilai signifikasi. Adapun hasil pada penelitian menggunakan metode MPN dua sampel terindetifikasi bakteri Escherichia coli dan pada metode TPC tidak ditemukan bakteri Escherichia coli sehingga dapat disimpulkan pada sampel es kacang merah yang terindentifikasi bakteri Escherichia coli tidak layak untuk dikonsumsi. Kata Kunci : Escherichia coli, Es kacang merah, metode TPC dan MPN

Abstract

Everyone needs to know the condition of the body that can restore the body's stamina so that the optimal condition is the need for sleep. Working hours and biological rhythms that do not match can cause stress in the form of hormonal changes that are controlled by the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus will trigger the anterior pituitary to increase cortisol. Cortisol reduces the number of eosinophils, basophils, monocytes, and lymphocytes, interleukins 1 and 6 as well as suppression of T cells in the blood so that the level of immunity against foreign substances entering the body is reduced. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of sleep quality on the formation of erythrocytes in workers with a shift system in the peripheral circulation. This study uses analytical estimation through a horizontal approach. Based on the analysis, there is a significant relationship between sleep quality and the number of ATLM episodes with the shift work system at BBLK Palembang. Chi Square statistical test results obtained from 86 people there are 35 people with good sleep quality, from 35 respondents with good sleep quality 33 people (94.3%) have a good blood count and 2 respondents (5.7%) others have a low blood cell count. As for ATLM with a shift work system, it is expected to be able to maintain good and sufficient sleep quality, as well as improve good sleep quality.

Abstract

 Nutrient Agar media is a medium with a yellowish white powder and after use it will be solid because it contains agar. The most important content contained in this medium is carbohydrates as well as protein contained in meat extract and peptone according to the needs of most bacteria. (Rossita, 2015). Soybeans are one of the natural ingredients that contain high enough protein. The purpose of the study was to compare the number of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria colonies on nutrient agar media and soybean media. The type of research used is experimental. This research was conducted on 21-25 June 2021 at the Palembang Health Laboratory Center with a total of 32 samples. Data were analyzed using Mann Whitney Test. The results showed that the average number of colonies on soybean media had an average of 3.3 colonies, while colonies on nutrient agar media had an average of 50.4 colonies. Statistical test results obtained p = 0.000 means that there is a comparison of the number of colonies of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria on nutrient agar media and soybean media. The conclusion of this study is that soybean media cannot be used as an alternative medium for the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Keywords: Nutrient Agar, Soybeans, Staphylococcus aureus

The results of statistical analysis with the One Way ANOVA test, in a value of 0.000, meaning that there was a significant difference. The conclusion obtained is that aloe vera extract can slow down the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria but based on the standard value of sensitivity of an aloe vera extract bacteria with the highest concentration it cannot be used as an antibiotic because it is less than the standard value of 14 mm.

Abstract

Examination of levels of C-Reactive Protein (CRP) in the blood is one of the tests. that can detect inflammation at an early stage. C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is an inflammatory marker that is synthesized in the liver. CRP levels increase due to trauma, bacterial infection and inflammation (inflammation and tissue damage). CRP is synthesized by the liver and It released into the bloodstream for 6-10 hours after the acute inflammatory process and acute destruction. Tissue detection CRP is also one of several proteins often referred to as the acute phase and It is used to monitor changes in the acute inflammatory phase associated with many infectious and autoimmune diseases. Examination of C-Reactive Protein (CRP) used serum and plasma samples of K3EDTA. C-Reactive Protein levels were measured using the Immunoturbidimetric method. This type of research was cross sectional. The study was conducted at the Clinical Pathology Laboratory, Faculty of Science and Technology, Institute of Health Sciences and Technology Muhammadiyah Palembang on December 21, 2021 with samples were 30. The results of the study had an average value in serum samples of 6.3 mg/L and an average value in plasma. K3EDTA 6.5 mg/L. Wilcoxon test results obtained p value = 0.000. The conclusion of the study was that there were differences in the examination of C-Reactive Protein (CRP) levels in serum and plasma samples of K3EDTA using the immunoturbidimetric method.

Abstract

ABO blood group examination is a simple laboratory test performed to determine a person’s blood group. There are two types of ABO blood group test, namely cell grouping and serum grouping. Serum grouping examination is very important to prevent incompatible transfusion reactions and organ transplant rejection. Serum grouping was carried out using 10% saline wash suspension of cell A, B and O. The blood cell washing stage was used to remove fragile cells and interfering substances that could result in errors in the examination. The main ingredient used in the blood cell washing procedur is 0.9% NaCl. This study aims to determine the degree of agglutination serum grouping tube test with ready to use 0.9% NaCl reagent suspension and 0.9% NaCl reagent suspension from table salt. The type of research is an experiment. The study was conducted at UDD PMI South Sumatra Province on 30 December 2021 to 5 January 2022 with a totalsample of 67 samples. The results showed that the average degree of agglutination the serum grouping tube test with 0.9% NaCl reagent ready to use was 3.73 and the average degree of agglutination the serum grouping tube test with0.9% NaCl reagent from table salt was 3.69. Wilcoxon test results obtained p value = 0.450. The conclusion of the study, that there is no differences in the results of the agglutination serum grouping tube test with ready to use 0.9% NaCl reagen suspension and 0.9% NaCl reagent suspension from table salt. The table salt showed that 0.9% NaCl reagent can be used as alternative reagent NaCl 0.9% ready to use in the examination of Iserum grouping tube test.

Abstract

Background: The immune system is closely related to leukocytes. Leukocytes are part of the immune system which have an important role in every disease-causing agent. One of the efforts that can be made to increase the immune response is to provide an immunomodulator, a substance that can improve the immune system by means of stimulation (immunostimulants). Black cumin is able to stimulate bone marrow and immune cells and is able to protect normal cells from damage by disease agents, an increase in the total number of blood cells and their differentiation. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving black cumin oil extract on leukocyte levels in male mice. Methods: This type of research is experimental, to see the levels of leukocytes, after being treated with doses of 150 mg/kgBB, 300 mg/kgBB and 600 mg/kgBB for 21 days. The data obtained were then analyzed statistically using the ANOVA test. Result: The results obtained by the total number of leukocytes on day 7, day 14 and 21 showed a significant difference (p <0.05) for each treatment group. The use of black seed oil extract is very effective for boosting the immune system or immunostimulating. Conclusion: The benefit of this research is that it can provide information to the public that black cumin oil extract can be used as an alternative in increasing the body's immune system. Keywords: immunostimulants, black cumin, male mice
