Abstract

The agricultural sector, particularly the cultivation of tomatoes in Tontonunu Village, exhibits considerable economic potential. However, the sector confronts impediments, including substandard yields, limited technological expertise, and reliance on intermediaries. Consequently, enhancing farmers' capabilities through agricultural extension initiatives is imperative to augment productivity and ensure their well-being. The objective of this study is to ascertain the impact of agricultural extension workers on the financial yield of tomato farming in Tontonunu Village, Tontonunu District, Bombana Regency. The research population comprised all 120 tomato farmers in Tontonunu Village. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula with a standard error of 15%, resulting in a sample of 32 tomato farmers. The sampling method employed was simple random sampling. The data collection process involved the implementation of a survey method, which included the administration of a questionnaire and the conduction of interviews. The research variables encompassed the role of agricultural extension workers and tomato farm income. The data were processed using descriptive analysis. The results indicated that agricultural extension workers exhibited varied roles in carrying out their duties. Among the respondents who identified as facilitators, 43.75% were classified as being in the "very good" category, while 56.25% were in the "fairly good" category. The majority of respondents (96.875%) were classified as "fairly good," while a smaller proportion (3.125%) were designated as "very good." Conversely, in the role of motivator, 71.875% of respondents were in the fairly good category, while 28.125% were in the very good category. The total income of the 32 farmers who participated in the study and who were engaged in tomato farming in Tontonunu Village was IDR 387,555,117. Furthermore, the income of each farmer exhibited significant variation, with the highest income reaching IDR 37,133,500 and the lowest income being IDR 2,214,750, with an average income of IDR 13,048,597 per season.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the marketing decisions that influence the performance of corn farming in Wonuambuteo Village, Lambandia District. The informants in this study are corn farmers residing in Wonuambuteo Village. The informants were selected using purposive sampling, based on criteria established by the researcher. Consequently, the study encompassed 35 corn farmers. The present study employed a qualitative approach. The data were collected through a combination of observation and in-depth interviews. The objective of this study is to examine the factors that influence farming performance, marketing decisions, and the income of corn farmers. The analysis of research data was conducted using qualitative descriptive analysis. The present study employed a qualitative descriptive analysis, which was conducted through three stages: data reduction, data analysis, and data interpretation. Specialized analysis was also conducted using an income formula. The results of the study show that corn farming performance in Wonuambuteo Village has shown positive results thanks to the use of agricultural tools that support efficiency and productivity. Farmers utilize tools such as tractors, high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and harvesting tools that help increase land productivity and reduce working hours. Additionally, marketing decisions have a significant impact on farming performance, with marketing facilities such as traditional and modern markets providing sales channels for corn products. Farmers with land areas of 2.50–3.00 hectares achieve the highest income, ranging from Rp13,000,000 to Rp15,000,000, indicating that increasing land area contributes to improved efficiency and better production outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the financial feasibility of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) farming using the NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) hydroponic system in urban areas (case study in Kendari City). The study was conducted from June to November 2024. The population in this study consists of all farmers engaged in hydroponic farming using the NFT system in Kendari City. The sample size was determined based on information from the Kendari City Agriculture Department in 2021, totaling 10 farmers. Data sources include primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques include observation, questionnaires, documentation, and literature review. The research variables included respondent characteristics, income during one harvest season, including production costs and revenue. Data analysis in this study used the production cost formula, revenue, income, and R/C Ratio. The results of the study indicate that farming can be considered viable, given that the R/C ratio analysis yielded a value of 2.43. The average total cost of farming was Rp. 2,960,751, while the revenue was Rp. 7,200,000, and the net income was Rp. 4,230,249 per planting season.
