Abstract

Quality seed supply is the main problem in potato farming. The assessment was aimed at analyzing sourcesof potato seeds’effect on yields and farmers’income. The study was conducted in Baru Pulau Sangkar Village,Batang Merangin District, Kerinci Regency on May to December 2003. Sources of seeds were (i) improved seeds ofBBU Pangalengan, West Java, and (ii) farmers’local seed of Kayu Aro, Kerinci Regency. The treatment was fertilizerrates, namely of Urea (150 kg/ha), SP-36 (450 kg/ha), KCl (300 kg/ha), ZA (150 kg/ha), and organic fertilizer (6,000kg/ha). Highest yield was achieved through application of improved seeds, namely 15,850 kg/ha with income of Rp29,030,000/ha, production cost of Rp 13,291,000/ha, and profit of Rp 15,739,000 or B/C ratio of 1.18. The localseeds’yield was 13,750 kg/ha with income of Rp 17,287,500, total cost of Rp 13,291,00, and profit of Rp3,996,500/ha or B/C ratio of 0.30. yield break event point of both seeds was 8,935.13 kg/ha and price break evenpoints of improved and local seeds were Rp 838.55/kg and Rp 966.62/kg, respectively.Key words: Solanum hybrid seed, indegenous seed, farm analysisPermasalahan dalam melakukan budidaya kentang selalu dihadapkan pada ketersediaan bibit bermutu, sehinggausaha pengembangan kentang sering tidak optimal. Permasalahan ini tidak saja berlaku untuk Provinsi Jambi, akantetapi secara umum dirasakan oleh petani kentang di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruhsumber bibit terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil usahatani kentang; dan mendapatkan informasi tentang kelayakanusahatani tanaman kentang dalam rangka meningkatkan produksi serta penerimaan petani. Penelitian dilaksanakan diDesa Baru Pulau Sangkar, Kecamatan Batang Merangin Kabupaten Kerinci pada ketinggian 800 m dari permukaanlaut dengan jenis tanah Andisol pada bulan Mei sampai Desember 2003. Sumber bibit yang diuji berasal dari (1) bibitunggul BBU Pengalengan Jawa Barat; dan (2) bibit lokal petani Kayu Aro Kabupaten Kerinci. Pemupukanmenggunakan dosis anjuran BPTP Jambi yaitu urea 150 kg, SP-36 450 kg, KCl 300 kg, ZA 150 kg dan pupuk organik6.000 kg/ha. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan produksi tertinggi diperoleh pada sumber bibit unggul 15.850 kg/ha,jumlah penerimaan Rp. 29.030.000,- dengan biaya produksi Rp. 13.291.000,- dan keuntungan bersih Rp. 15.739.000,-serta B/C ratio 1.18, sedangkan untuk sumber bibit lokal hasil 13.750 kg/ha, jumlah penerimaan Rp. 17.287.500,-biaya produksi Rp. 13.291.000,- dan keuntungan bersih Rp. 3.996.500,- serta B/C ratio 0,30. Titik Impas Produksiuntuk kedua sumber bibit tercapai pada hasil 8935,13 kg/ha, sedangkan Titik Impas Harga untuk bibit unggul telahtercapai pada harga Rp. 838,55/kg dan untuk sumber bibit lokal Rp. 966,62/kg.Kata kunci : bibit kentang unggul, bibit kentang lokal, analisis usahatani

Abstract

Potato is one of the main vegetables in Kerinci District. Development of potato plants is supported by the availability of land, agro ecosystem, labor and market opportunities as well as conductive local government policies. Potato farmers do not fully implementing the recommended farming technologies, such as the use of good seed, balanced fertilizer, crop rotation, pest control, harvesting and post harvest, so the production and reception of farmers is still low. The research took place in Mount Seven Village, Pelompek Kerinci District, Jambi Province which is background by agro-ecosystem dryland upland wet climate (LKDTIB), with soil type andisol at an altitude of 1400 m above sea level. The study aimed to see the effect of balanced fertilization on the growth and yield of potato. Potato used is Granola variety fourth generation derived from the Parent Seed Potato Institute in Kayu Aro. Assessments carried out from February until July 2008, with the treatment as follows: Introduction Package (A): SP-36 450 kg, 200 kg Urea, ZA 200 kg, 300 kg of KC1, NPK 100 kg and 10,000 kg of organic fertilizer/ha. Farmers Package (B): SP-36 750 kg, 400 kg Urea, 250 kg of KC1, and 400 kg NPK /ha. Fanners Package (C): SP-36 600 kg, 300 kg ZA, KC1 300 and 400 kg NPK /ha. The results showed that Package (A) gives the results of 24,320 kg /ha, higher than package (B) with the results of 18,240 kg/ha, while the Fanners Package (C) get the 19,520 kg/ha. High yield Package (A) is supported by the controlled growth of plants, the intensity and the population of pests and diseases and relatively more yield components than Package(B) and Package (C).

Abstract

Semakin berkebangnya kendaraan bermotor di tengah masyarakat dengan sendirinya menaikan kadar emisi gas buang kendaraan yang mana emisi gas buang tersebut sangat berbahaya bagi masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hasil gas buang dari setiap kendaraan dan mengetahuai berapa presentase masing-masing zat dalam emisi gas buang yakni CO, HC, CO2 dan O2. Metode penelitian dengan pengujian beberapa sampel kenderaan keluaran 2017 keatas dan menggunakan alat penguji emisi gas buang HG-520 dengan varian waktu 1 menit, 3 menit dan 5 menit pada putaran mesin idle. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa emisi gas buang karbon monoksida (CO) tertinggi terjadi pada spesimen 3 sebesar 0,004% dan terendah pada spesimen 1 sebesar dibawah 0,01% ; emisi gas buang hidro karbon (HC) tertinggi pada spesimen 2 sebesar 63 ppm dan terendah spesimen 1 sebesar 2 ppm ; emisi gas buang oksigen (O2) tertinggi pada spesimen nomor 2 sebesar 25% dan terendah pada spesimen no 3 sebesar 18% dan untuk emiisi gas buang karbon dioksida (CO2) menujukan nilai angka yang sama pada semua pengujian sebesar 0,8%.

Abstract

The Paal Merah Village area, Paal Merah Jambi District, City is dominated by dry land with a wet climate, so the developing farming pattern is based on dry land with a wet climate. This paper aims to study the characteristics of farmers in dry land with wet climates and their implications for the application of farming technology. The research was conducted in Paal Merah Village, Paal Merah District, Jambi City, in 2020, involving 25 farmers who were randomly selected as respondents. Through descriptive data analysis, the following picture is obtained: First, vegetable farming at the research location has the potential to be developed intensively and sustainably. Second, support from the characteristics of farmers of productive age, a fairly high level of education, and farming experience will motivate farmers. To increase its business intensively. Third, opportunities to increase farming productivity are still wide open through optimizing the use of potential farming land resources based on farmers' strengths and weaknesses. Fourth, to increase productivity in dry land areas with wet climates, the strategy is to diversify businesses (multi enterprises); implementing integrated farming patterns, accelerating technology dissemination and encouraging the growth of partnership collaboration networks. For the multi-enterprise strategy to be implemented, it is necessary to have a soft credit scheme policy whose implementation is accompanied by assistance from extension workers and researchers.

Abstract

Production efficiency is a crucial factor in producing seeds. This paper aims to estimate the level of efficiency of rice seed production and determine the factors that influence it using a frontier stochastic production function approach. The rice varieties developed are Inpara3, Inpari Nutri Zink and Baroma. The research was conducted in Rawa Medang Village, Batang Asam District, West Tanjung Jabung Regency, Jambi Province, in December 2021. Data collection was carried out through observation and in-depth interviews with seed breeders. By using the frontier production function, the conclusion is obtained: The efficiency level of rice farming for superior varieties is relatively good, with the efficiency level at level 6. All rice seed breeders show effective performance. To increase the efficiency of rice farming in the future, it is necessary to sharpen the use of production input inputs. The consideration is that the breeder's orientation is to produce quality seed for use by the farming community. Therefore, more intensive technological assistance is needed.
