Abstract

Abstract

The utilization of digital platforms has become a key strategy to increase the competitiveness of MSMEs in Indonesia, particularly in the hijab fashion sector. This study aims to analyze the impact of digital platforms and the implementation of the 9F Entrepreneurship Model on MSMEs in Sidoarjo District, as well as its contribution to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8.3, which focuses on promoting economic productivity and entrepreneurship. This qualitative research employs a case study method involving five MSMEs in the hijab fashion industry, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and direct observations of business owners. The findings indicate that integrating digital platforms such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, Shopee, and TikTok with the 9F model significantly enhances innovation, visibility, and flexibility in MSMEs’ responses to market changes. Among the 169 MSMEs in the fashion sector in Sidoarjo, 26 focus on hijab fashion, with five MSMEs participating in this research. These MSMEs reported improvements in market reach and operational efficiency through digital platforms. Additionally, the integration of digital strategies supports economic growth aligned with SDG 8.3. This approach shows that the combination of digital platforms and the 9F Entrepreneurship Model can be an essential strategy for developing MSMEs in the hijab fashion sector, contributing to local economic growth and government efforts to achieve SDG 8.3.

Abstract

This study evaluates the application of circular economy principles in managing e-waste at Telkomcel Timor Leste, a leading telecommunications company in the country. Timor Leste is facing increasing challenges in e-waste management due to the growing use of technological devices, which contributes to the rising volume of electronic waste. Inadequate management of e-waste poses significant environmental and health risks, including pollution and the leaching of harmful substances into the soil and water. The study uses a mixed-methods approach, including secondary data analysis and in-depth interviews with key stakeholders at Telkomcel, involving 4 respondents from various stackholder related to waste management and sustainability. The analysis focuses on Telkomcel's strategies in implementing circular economy practices, such as device refurbishment, recycling programs, and internal policies. The findings reveal that while Telkomcel has taken significant steps toward adopting a circular economy model, challenges remain, including limited infrastructure, low public awareness, and insufficient recycling facilities. Notably, Telkomcel has initiated internal policies promoting e-waste collection, repair, and reuse of devices, yet the company faces barriers in scaling these efforts. The study highlights the importance of strengthening collaboration with third-party recycling partners, expanding the recycling infrastructure, and raising public awareness through education campaigns. This research is significant in the context of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), as it emphasizes the need for sustainable e-waste management practices to mitigate environmental impact and contribute to long-term resource efficiency. The study concludes with recommendations for Telkomcel to enhance its sustainability efforts by improving infrastructure, increasing public education on e-waste recycling, and advocating for stronger government regulations. These efforts are expected to support sustainable development in Timor Leste while minimizing the environmental consequences of improper e-waste disposal.

Abstract

The fast fashion industry has rapidly grown over the past two decades due to quick supply and low prices, leading to overconsumption and textile waste, which harm land, marine, and air environments. This study explores how environmental knowledge and monetary benefits influence fast fashion purchase intentions, using the Theory of Planned Behavior. A quantitative survey of 134 Indonesian fast fashion consumers was analyzed using SEM-PLS. Of 12 hypotheses, seven were supported. Results show environmental knowledge significantly impacts perceived behavioral control, while monetary benefits positively affect brand attitude and subjective norms but negatively influence perceived betrayal. Although monetary benefits drive favorable purchase attitudes, perceived betrayal reduces purchase intentions. Findings reveal Indonesian consumers generally lack environmental knowledge and do not feel disappointed with fast fashion. The study recommends enhancing environmental awareness through recycling programs and government policies to reduce fast fashion consumption.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the practices of electronic waste (e-waste) management in the Indonesian banking sector within the framework of the circular economy based on the principles of Refuse, Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Refurbish, Remanufacture, Repurpose, and Recycle (9R), as well as to understand the role and challenges of integrating the informal sector into the management system. This research adopts a qualitative case study approach, using in-depth interviews with six informants from large and small banks. The findings reveal that large banks tend to implement formal and systematic policies, while small banks rely on informal initiatives such as reuse and refurbish. Additionally, the informal sector plays a crucial role in collection and recycling but faces structural barriers to formalization. The limitations of this study include the restricted geographic scope and descriptive approach. Therefore, future research is recommended to employ a quantitative method and cover a broader range of regions and actors. From a practical perspective, more inclusive policies are needed to support the integration of the informal sector into a sustainable formal e-waste management system.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a strategy to improve the sustainability performance of BRIGuna Digital in the BRI Regional Office of Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), using a mixed methods approach. The research began with interviews and observations involving 23 purposively selected informants, consisting of BRI employees and active BRIGuna Digital users. Qualitative data were analyzed using SWOT and triangulation approaches and then used as the basis for developing a Likert-scale questionnaire. The questionnaire results were analyzed descriptively and used to construct the IFAS and EFAS matrices, which served as the foundation for formulating an adaptive and responsive strategy to enhance BRIGuna Digital's performance. The findings indicate that the main strengths lie in the integrated information system and branch network capabilities, while significant weaknesses are found in technical aspects and user outreach. The IFAS and EFAS results place the company in an aggressive strategy position. An SO (Strengths–Opportunities) strategy was selected, focusing on optimizing internal potential to seize external opportunities. The recommended strategy implementation includes targeting bonafide institutional clients, forming promotional partnerships with business partners, strengthening brand image through digital security, educating non-digital users, updating leads data with regional mapping, adjusting autodebit to salary schedules, tightening screening for payroll-switching debtors, and offering competitive interest rates with flexible tenors. This research provides strategic contributions to the development of sustainable performance in the national digital financial services sector

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of SharingHappiness.org, a crowdfunding platform in Indonesia, in mobilizing community participation to support the achievement of SDG 1.1, which focuses on eradicating extreme poverty. Research methodology: The research employs a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with five key stakeholders (platform managers, donors, and campaigners), supported by thematic analysis and triangulation. Questionnaires were also distributed to 57 donors and campaigners to strengthen the analysis through mixed data validation. Results: Findings reveal that donor trust, ease of transaction, transparency, influencer influence, brand awareness, and inclusivity are critical success factors. While SharingHappiness.org has shown commendable performance in these areas, it still lags behind larger platforms such as Kitabisa.com in terms of donation volume, donor base, and campaign success rate. However, SharingHappiness.org demonstrates higher operational efficiency per employee. Conclusions: The study concludes that strengthening transparency, improving UI/UX, expanding strategic partnerships, and enhancing long-term impact reporting are essential to increasing community participation and aligning better with SDG 1.1 goals. Limitations: The study is limited by its qualitative scope and focus on a single platform, which may reduce generalizability to other crowdfunding contexts. The quantitative comparison with competitors is based on publicly available data, which may lack full accuracy. Contribution: This research contributes to the literature on digital philanthropy and SDG implementation in developing countries by providing an evaluative framework for assessing crowdfunding effectiveness in promoting social inclusion and poverty alleviation.

Abstract

The fast fashion industry has experienced dramatic growth over the past two decades, driven by the rapid supply and affordable prices. This phenomenon has led to overconsumption and the accumulation of textile waste, contributing to land, marine, and air pollution. The expansion of the fast fashion industry also poses a significant threat to Indonesia due to the substantial growth in both producers and consumers. Consumer environmental awareness is a critical factor in promoting sustainability, necessitating an analysis of the factors influencing fast fashion purchase intentions. However, Indonesia currently lacks fixed regulations to curb fast fashion production. Therefore, this study examines the influence of environmental knowledge and monetary benefits, utilizing the Theory of Planned Behavior to predict fast fashion purchase intentions in Indonesia. A quantitative survey method was employed, targeting fast fashion consumers in Indonesia. Data from 134 valid respondents were analyzed using the SEM-PLS method. Of the 12 hypotheses tested, seven were supported. The findings indicate that environmental knowledge significantly influences perceived behavioral control, while monetary benefits positively affect brand attitude and subjective norms. However, monetary benefits have a negative impact on perceived betrayal. Monetary benefits are important for Indonesian consumers in forming positive attitudes and subjective norm pressures to purchase fast fashion products. Perceived betrayal in fast fashion negatively affects purchase intentions. The study reveals that Indonesian consumers exhibit low environmental knowledge and lack feelings of disappointment toward fast fashion. Consequently, the government should enhance environmental knowledge through clothing recycling initiatives and establish policies to restrict fast fashion purchases.
