Abstract

Basic electronic II course must be supported by software-based virtual laboratory, one of which is to design work instructions (WI) of electrical measuring devices. The objectives of this research was to determine the extent of the influence of the design of work instruction (WI) electronic workbench-assisted electrical measuring devices on improving the internship concept of students in basic electronic II course. The sampling technique waspurposive sampling. The population of this research were all physics studentFaculty of Training Teacher and Education University of MuhammadiyahMataram. The research sample was a class of 2018 students who were took Basic Electronic II course. The research design used was one group pre-test post-test design where the sample was given a pre-test (initial test) before the first treatment and a post-test (final test) at the end of learning. The data analysis technique used was pre-test and post-test with the influence test formula or the t-test at a confidence level of 95%. The improvement in understanding of the internship concepts before and after using work instructions (WI) was calculated using the normalized reinforcement test (N-Gain). The result showed the tcount (= 5,017)>ttable (= 2,365) was at a confidence level of 95%, so that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The improvement in understanding of the internship concept using work instructions (WI) ElectronicWorkbench-assistedelectrical measuring devices was indicated by N-Gain of 0,441, so that it lies in the medium category. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that there was a significant influence on the use of the design of work instruction (WI) electronic workbench-assistedelectrical measuring devices on improving of the internship concept of students in the Basic Electronic II course.

Abstract

People's awareness of earthquakes is very deficient, and their earthquake mitigation is also relatively scant. The research objectives are: 1) Designing a flat coil-based vibration sensor on a Security Pos Drums as a Disaster preparedness media for Muhammadiyah Elementary School students; 2) Analyzing how high the level of disaster preparedness for Muhammadiyah Elementary School students through a flat coil-based vibration sensor on the Security Post Drums. This study uses two methods, i.e., 1) The experimental method was used to design the flat coil-based vibration sensor installed on the Security Post Drums. The vibration frequency measured by the flat coil sensor is the low frequency. The Security Post Drums work by striking it once or more, and then the vibration propagates to the sensor so the siren will blare; and 2) Qualitative and quantitative method used to measure students' preparedness in Muhammadiyah Elementary School. The samples applied are 26 students taken by random sampling method. The data on students' preparedness was collected using a questionnaire instrument. The research variable of the preparedness consisted of 5 aspects, i.e., 1) knowledge on types of disasters; 2) steps taken at the beginning of a disaster; 3) steps undertaken right after the disaster occurred; 4) materials need to prepared when disaster struck, and 5) preparedness in dealing disaster. The assessment was carried out using the Likert scale. The results of this research are 1) the disaster preparedness media for Aisyiyah Elementary School students has been designed in a flat coil-based sensor integrated with security post drums); 2) the level of disaster preparedness for Aisyiyah Elementary School students increased. This improvement was indicated that the posttest score (ranges from 60 until 68.18) was more significant than the pretest score (ranges from 49 until 58) on the overall five aspects.

Abstract

When students have good level of speed, critical and creative reading abilities, they will easily understand scientific knowledge and able to understand big volume of reading sources. However, most of teaching reading are dominated with conventional methods emphasizing on reading with question-and-answer. For the reasons, this study explores how do reading skills for speed, critical, and creative interrelate to one another, what specific techniques can be applied to enhance the level of students’ speed, critical, and creative reading abilities, and how were the three readings skills interrelation and connected to Foreign Language Learning theories. The research design was classroom action research with the participants of 35 students from English Literature Study Program. Two types of data: quantitative and qualitative were gained by using test and non-test. They were analysed descriptively by using interactive data analysis consisting of reduction, presentation, and verification. The data showed that students’ speed, critical, and creative reading abilities were still under standard but after the treatments, they made improvement. Their speed, critical and creative reading abilities reached standard scores. There is interrelation among speed, critical, and creative reading abilities. While integrating them in the reading class, students’ level of reading skills enhanced. They could employ speed-reading strategies to quickly comprehend the texts before engaging in critical and creative reading. In critical reading, students could optimize their ability in questioning, problematizing and not passively follow the information given by the authors. Yet, students can read the text by optimizing their imagination in understanding the text information.
