Abstract

ABSTRACT Treated industrial textile wastewater has organik and heavy metal compound that have toxicity effect on plant and other organism in agroecosystem. This research aimed to study the effect of industrial textile treated wastewater on cabbage growth and oviposition preference of Plutella xylostella L. The research was done at Green House in Ciparanje, Agriculture Faculty, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor District, Sumedang, West Java, Indonesia on May to June of 2018. Experimental design used was Block Randomized Design with nine treatments of industrial textile treated wastewater in various concentrations: 0%, 12,5%, 25%, 37,5%, 50%, 62,5%, 75%, 87,5%, and 100%, and three replications. This research revealted that industrial textile treated wastewater has no effect on growth of cabbage, but has an effect on oviposition of Plutella xylostella L. Keyword: industrial textile treated wastewater, growth of cabbage, preference oviposition, Plutella xylostella L.

Abstract

Ulat grayak Spodoptera frugiperda merupakan hama baru di Indonesia yang merusak pertanaman jagung dan jenis tanaman Poaceae lainnya, termasuk padi. Hama ini diketahui bersifat polifag, sehingga dapat menyerang jenis tanaman lainnya apabila populasinya sudah banyak dan lingkungan yang mendukung. Desa Ganjar Sabar, Kecamatan Nagreg memiliki lahan pertanian yang cukup luas dengan komoditi utamanya jagung dan padi. Petani setempat umumnya menanam jagung yang disertai tanaman hortikultura seperti mentimun atau kacang panjang sebagai tanaman pinggiran. Pengetahuan dan pemahaman mengenai hama invasif perlu dilakukan supaya pengendalian dan pecegahan dapat dilakukan sebelum kerugian terjadi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman petani mengenai ulat grayak Spodoptera frugiperda dan cara mengatasi serangannya. Kegiatan ini terintegrasi dengan KKN Unpad Tahun 2020, yang dilakukan secara daring. Kegiatan ini dilakukan melalui teknik wawancara dengan petani dan pengisian kuisioner, pengamatan lapangan, webinar, dan evaluasi.  Berdasarkan hasil wawancara dan pengisian kuisioner, bahwa sekitar 60% petani di Desa Ganjar Sabar sudah mengetahui keberadaan ulat grayak Frugiperda (UGF) melalui petugas Pengendali Organisme Pengganggu Tanaman (POPT) setempat namun, mereka belum mengetahui ciri-ciri pembeda antara UGF dengan ulat grayak lainnya. Tingkat kerusakan yang disebabkan hama ini berkisar (10-50%), dan teknik pengendalian yang mereka gunakan saat ini adalah pengendalian secara mekanik dan kimia.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPeluang berkembangnya agroindustri teh rakyat cukup besar, akibat semakin tingginya permintaan pasar luar negeri dan dalam negeri dalam bentuk“instant tea”.Namun, kondisi tersebut belum dapat dimanfaatkan dengan baik oleh petani teh maupun pelaku agroindustri teh rakyat. Ini terlihat dari, rendahnya produktivitas kebun teh milik petani, sehingga kurang dapat memenuhi permintaan pucuk teh oleh pelaku agroindustri the rakyat. Selanjutnya, pelaku agroindustri teh rakyat hanya dapat mengolah pucuk tehnya dalam bentuk teh hijau (curah) dengan harga yang murah. Akibatnya, pihak agroindustri teh rakyat membeli pucuk dari petani dengan harga murah dan mutu rendah. Penelitian  dilakukan untuk mengkaji kendala yang dihadapi dan keberlanjutan agro-industri teh. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan studi deskriptif survey. Tempat penelitian  yang dipilih  adalah Kabupaten: Garut (Kecamatan Cisurupan), Cianjur (Kecamatan Sukanagara) dan Bandung (Kecamatan Pasirjambu), yang  merupakan sentra teh di Provinsi Jawa Barat.Data diperoleh melalui wawancara dengan:pejabat pada instansi pemerintah, koperasi, pabrikan, asosiasi petani teh, kelompok tani, serta  petaniteh  yang diambil secara purposive. Sedangkan responden diambil secara proposional dari ketiga wilayah penelitian, dansetiap kecamatan diambil 30 orang petani teh. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif, dengan pendekatan system thinking.  Kendala yang dihadapi agroindustri teh rakyat, yaitu masih kurang dalam: 1) ketersediaan pucuk teh sebagai bahan baku, 2) pengetahuan untuk meningkatkan nilai tambah pucuk teh, 3) kemampuan penyediaan modal dan mesin olah pucuk teh, dan  4) dukungan pemerintah dalam mempromosikan teh olahan rakyat (misalnya: dalam rapat atau kegiatan yang berlangsung di pemerintahan belum memanfaatkan produk olahan teh dari petani). Kondisi ini berdampak terhadap keberlanjutan agroindustri teh rakyat.Kata kunci: agroindustri, berkelanjutan, kemandirian, nilai tambah, teh rakyat. ABSTRACT The increasing market demand, abroad and domestically in the form of "instant tea" (food, beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetics), and also support from the higher government through GPATN program makes the oopportunities of tea small holder groups into tea agro-industry business is quite huge.But infact, this opportunity cannot be utilized properly by tea small holder. Most of the tea small holders still sell their products in the form oftea fresh leaf. This research was conducted to investigate the constrain of tea small holder in agroindustry development.The study was conducted using a survey descriptive study approach. Selected location research is located at the center of tea small holder in West Java province, i.e.District of Garut, Cianjur and Bandung. In this research, the data were collected by interviews with relevant parties, i.e. officials at government agencies, cooperatives, manufacturers, associations of tea farmers, tea small holder groups, and tea farmers.While respondents were taken proportionally from the three study areas, and each district was taken by 30 tea farmers. Data were analyzed descriptively, with a system thinking approach. Constraints faced by the tea tea agro-industry, which are still lacking in: 1) the availability of tea shoots as raw materials, 2) knowledge to increase the added value of tea tops, 3) the ability to provide capital and tea shoot machines, and 4) government support in promoting tea processed by the people (for example: in meetings or activities that take place in the government have not utilized tea processing products from farmers). This condition has an impact on the sustainability of the people's tea agro-industry.Key words : agro-industry, independence,sustainability,tea small holder, value added

Abstract

At present the number of actors from the tea agro-industry actors in West Java is decreasing, for example, the agroindustry of tea smallholder in Cianjur District in 2015 in Sub-districts: Sukanagara only has six units out of 11 units, Takokak Sub-district there are only 11 units of 38 units, and The Campaka sub-district has no more agroindustry of tea smallholder that was established even though a few years ago there were three units of the agroindustry of tea smallholder. These conditions also occur in other areas, such as in Bandung's Ciwidey District, even now only the Barokah Farmers Group's agroindustry still survives (from the four agro-industries in Bandung's Ciwidey District). Some determinants of the persistence of the agroindustry of tea smallholder can come from internal and external factors concerned. The research technique used is a case study. Determination of informants was done purposively, namely Plantation Service staff, chairman and deputy chairman of the farmer group, general manager of the tea agro-industry of the people, supplier farmers, and village apparatus. Secondary data is collected from existing documents in relevant agencies and journals. Data and information obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that, the sustainability of the existence of the agroindustry of tea smallholder was determined by several factors, namely the ability of the people's tea agro-industry actors in: 1) fulfilling the supply of raw materials (tea tops), 2) managing the finances owned, 3) managing the organization, 4) doing product diversification, 5) expanding information networks and connectivity with relevant agencies, 6) continuity in market demand, and 7) continuity in maintaining product quality.

Abstract

EFFORTS TO INCREASE INCOME OF PEOPLE'S TEA FARMERS’ FAMILIES THROUGH EMPOWERING RURAL WOMEN IN CISURUPAN DISTRICT, GARUT REGENCY. To increase the family income of tea smallholder, the participation of wives as housewives in the community tea smallholder is very important. Considering that there is still a lot of free time they have; and also their habits in doing food processing, so if they are fostered in earnest, their potential can be developed into a form of productive business. This can automatically increase its role in increasing the income of the household concerned. In the end, the welfare of farmer households (in particular) can also be improved. The method used in the implementation of Community Service is PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal), a method whose purpose is to find a shared solution, and the goal is, the Khasanah Business Group which is a pilot group in Kampong of Ciela, Sirnajaya Village, Cisurupan District, Garut Regency. In Community Service Activities, product innovation has been developed, rehabilitation of production equipment, provision of business management materials and market development of processed products from the Khasanah Business Group through KKN students who are interested in acting as marketing channels in the campus and surrounding areas. In addition, to increase public confidence in the products of the Khasanah Business Group, assistance has been made to arrange the making of PIRT letters (Household Industrial Products) by students involved in KKN. Furthermore, so that the Khasanah Business Group can develop its business to the fullest, then continuous guidance is needed, namely through mentoring activities, so that the Khasanah Business Group can run better which ultimately can manage their business independently.

Abstract

Tea smallholder  plantations in Cianjur and Garut regencies have a very massive land function, resulting in the end of the shrinking of smallholder tea fields. The most urgent cause is the increasingly expensive wage of labor and the low price of tea tops received by farmers. This makes the farmers are no longer aroused to cultivate the plant properly. This is dependent on the provision of raw materials for the people's tea agro-industry, which eventually decreases the number of people's tea agro-industry. The research technique used is descriptive survey study. Research conducted in Garut and Cianjur regency, was chosen because included in the center of tea plantation in West Java Province. Sampling was done by simple random sampling method by 30 tea farmers in each area studied. Interviews were also conducted on: officials at government agencies, cooperatives, heads of tea agro-industry, farmer groups, selected purposively. The data and information owned are analyzed descriptively correlative and system thinking approach. Opportunities for the development of tea-tea agroindustry are still possible, in terms of: a) high demand for various processed products based on tea, b) to keep growing demand for tea in the world, c) smart, premium, and e) market support for countries with economic growth high. Challenges in the development of smallholder tea agroindustry can come from: a) human interests and capabilities, b) capital capital, c) land conversion, and d) innovation and creativity of processed products.
