Abstract

Tulungagung Regency was chosen to implement the YESS program because the majority of its people rely on the agricultural sector as their main livelihood and raising livestock as a side business. Geographically, the location of the Tulungagung Regency area is also quite strategic with abundant natural resources, thus supporting it as a target for implementing the Program. This research was carried out for 1 month from March 10 2023 to April 15 2023. In this research primary data and secondary data were obtained. Primary data was obtained from interviews and observations of 7 breeders who received benefits from competitive grants from the YESS Program in 2022, goat breeders as key informants in Gondang District, Tulungagung Regency and Expert Informants who came from YESS Program implementers from the Tulungagung Agriculture Service and program facilitators. Secondary data was obtained from literature. From the research, the results showed that the YESS program was considered successful in improving livestock farmers' skills, facilitating market access, increasing access to financing and activating institutional policies and media for youth involvement in rural areas. The suggestion for this research is that it is necessary to carry out further analysis regarding the obstacles that occur in implementing the YESS program.

Abstract

The daily egg production (hen-day production) of layer-phase laying hens aged 72 weeks in Suruhwadang Village is below the standard, recorded at approximately 65–70%, whereas the ideal standard is approximately 79–81%. This discrepancy highlights the need to encourage farmers to optimize egg production through the implementation of good farming practices (GFPs), as outlined by the Indonesian Minister of Agriculture Regulation No. 31 of 2014. This study aimed to evaluate the application of GFP and its effect on the daily egg production of laying hens in Suruhwadang village. This study was conducted from December 2022 to May 2023 in Kademangan District, Blitar Regency, and involved 30 layers breeders selected via purposive sampling. The study employed a quantitative research approach with a survey method, and the data were analysed via descriptive and inferential statistical techniques, including multiple linear regression analysis. The findings revealed that the application of Good Farming Practices in Suruhwadang Village is generally poor. However, it was determined that the GFP significantly influences daily egg production, contributing 41.1% of the variance in egg production, with a significance value of 0.019. These results underscore the importance of enhancing GFP adoption to improve egg production and meet industry standards.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the causes of bankruptcy in broiler farms using the Altman Z-Score method using financial statements for the 2017-2019 period. This research was conducted from August to September 2021, this research was conducted by conductibf interviews with the Company Owner. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative research, namely by collecting, classifying, analyzing and interpreting the data obtained from the company so that it can provide an overview of the actual situation. The method used by researchers for data collection is by interview and documentation. The results showed how to overcome bankruptcy based on financial data, the company had total debt which was one of the causes of the company going bankrupt and another reason the company closed because in 2019 the price of chicken decreased. Factors causing the decline in broiler prices in 2019 were due to oversupply from broiler chickens, oversupply from Day Old Chicks (DOC), a decrease in people's purchasing power and distribution channels that were disrupted due to the issue of the cartel mafia.

Abstract

The global halal industry, particularly in animal-based products such as meat and dairy, is rapidly expanding due to the growing Muslim population and greater consumer attention to product quality. However, challenges such as inconsistent certification systems and contamination risks hinder market growth and consumer trust. The purpose of this research is to examine the worldwide landscape of halal animal-based products, focusing on consumer demand, supply chain capacity, sustainability challenges, and market opportunities. The main objective is to identify patterns and trends related to halal product demand and supply chain sustainability. A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted, using databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and SpringerLink between July and September 2025. The inclusion criteria were English-language empirical articles published between 2015 and 2025. The Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT) was used to evaluate the quality of the literature, and NVivo was used for thematic data analysis. A total of 35 studies met the inclusion criteria. Four main themes emerged: (1) Growing customer interest in purchasing halal goods; (2) Supply chain mechanisms involving certification integrity and traceability; (3) Sustainability challenges such as cross-contamination and inconsistent regulation; (4) Market opportunities in non-Muslim countries, highlighting global awareness of halal product quality and safety. Despite challenges, the global halal market holds significant potential. Technologies like blockchain can improve transparency and traceability, while harmonizing global halal certification systems is crucial. To investigate the use of these technologies, further investigation is required   Keywords: Halal Products, Supply Chain, Halal Certification, Global Market, Sustainability

Abstract

Standard cage-free systems may not fully accommodate the active behavior of local chickens, potentially affecting welfare and productivity. This preliminary study evaluated behavior-based modifications to cage-free housing and their associations with physiological responses, behavioral expression, and egg quality in Kampung Unggul Balitnak (KUB) pullets. Sixty 20-week-old pullets were assigned to a control group (Humane Farm Animal Care [HFAC] standards) or a modified group with reduced stocking density (6–7 hens/m²), a 1:3 nest-to-hen ratio, and multi-level perches. Welfare indicators included plasma corticosterone levels (measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, ELISA) and behavioral observations. At the same time, egg quality was assessed based on physicochemical properties and microbiological safety in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Corticosterone levels were comparable between the modified (1.69±0.56 ng/mL) and control (1.48±0.49 ng/mL) groups. The modified housing system was associated with more frequent expression of natural behaviors, such as dust bathing and perching, and a lower frequency of aggressive interactions compared with the control system. Egg quality parameters were similar between groups, and microbiological contamination remained below SNI safety thresholds. The modified group showed a numerically higher yolk cholesterol levels (764.94 mg/100 g) than the control group (634.24 mg/100 g). In conclusion, this preliminary study suggests that behavior-based modifications to cage-free housing may enhance behavioral expression in KUB chickens without compromising egg safety. However, the findings are limited by the preliminary design and lack of experimental replication. Future replicated studies are needed to validate these observations.
