Abstract

The squeezing process of grated coconut into coconut milk, and the following process of  making the milk into coconut oil, which is done by people living in rural areas, is until now still very traditional. They do it manually (by hands) so that they produce 7.2 kg/hour grated coconut or 3.6 litres/hour thick coconut milk.To effectify the process, the squeezing needs to be mechanized, using a grated coconut squeezer machine.The machine is designed on the basis of Screw Press system with a ¼ HP 1450 rpm electric motor power using a pulley belt transmission and a gear box. The squeezer’s force refers to coconuts aging between 341 and 413 days (hand squeezing force normally practised by coconut oil producers in rural areas).This prototype of machine has the capacity of producing 53.2 kg/hour grated coconut or 26.6 litres/hour thick coconut milk, which has similar quality (in colour, smell and texture) as that manually squeezed.Keywords : grated coconut squeezer, coconut milk

Abstract

The home industry partner for the tofu business is located in Kalidoh Langensari Barat Village, Ungaran Barat District, Semarang Regency. The partner's obstacle is the failure to meet the increasing market demand. This obstacle is caused because the production process is still carried out manually or traditionally so that tofu production is limited to human power. The right solution offered through this community service is the application of process technology in the form of a soybean grinding machine with a rotary system to increase tofu productivity. The purpose of this community service is to make an electric soybean grinding machine, apply a rotary grinding machine to the tofu production process, and conduct evaluation and assistance to maintain the sustainability of the program. The initial stage carried out in this service consists of planning and making the machine. Planning is based on market needs and partner conditions related to the provision of electrical energy. The design results are made through machine work in the Mechanical Department workshop. The next stage is the application of the machine including assembly and installation of the machine at the partner's location, as well as operational training and machine maintenance. The final stage of the service is evaluation and assistance. Evaluation is carried out by directly assessing the partner's operational practices on the machine that has been assisted. The assistance provided includes supervision, work control, and direction when the partner produces tofu using the production machine. It is expected that the rotary soybean grinding machine can increase the production of partner tofu.

Abstract

UD BUDI JAYA LOGAM yang berlokasi di Juwana, Kabupaten Pati, Jawa Tengah, merupakan salah satu sentra industri pengecoran aluminium yang telah berkembang pesat. Produk utama yang dihasilkan adalah burner kompor gas untuk kebutuhan ekspor, disertai berbagai produk tambahan seperti komponen kendaraan bermotor, perlengkapan rumah tangga, dan beragam kerajinan berbahan aluminium cor. Permasalahan utama yang masih dihadapi UKM ini terletak pada proses pemanasan inti cetakan berbahan resin coated yang masih menggunakan kompor gas. Proses manual tersebut menyebabkan ketidakteraturan suhu pemanasan, sehingga kekuatan inti cetakan tidak seragam dan waktu produksi menjadi lebih lama. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menerapkan dapur pemanas listrik sebagai solusi inovatif yang mampu memberikan pemanasan lebih stabil, aman, dan efisien. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi tahapan survei dan identifikasi permasalahan, penilaian kelayakan UKM sebagai mitra, serta penerapan hasil rancangan alat di lokasi produksi. Diharapkan penerapan teknologi tepat guna ini dapat meningkatkan kualitas dan efisiensi produksi inti cetakan di UKM BUDI JAYA LOGAM. Luaran kegiatan meliputi prototipe dapur pemanas listrik, publikasi ilmiah nasional, publikasi media daring, serta pendaftaran Hak Kekayaan Intelektual (HKI) sebagai bentuk keberlanjutan inovasi.

Abstract

Maintenance and repair work in a building or structure is not only in low places, but also in high places which require assistive devices. The assistive device in question is scaffolding. The design of this scaffolding begins with a literature study followed by data collection in the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Semarang State Polytechnic to obtain data on the need for height assistive devices which are used as a reference for making electric scaffolding. The purpose of this study is to design an electric scaffolding with a capacity of 300 kg and to perform the performance of the electric scaffolding made. After the design of the electric scaffolding, the dimensions of the equipment were obtained, namely 1000 mm x 1500 mm x 2000 mm and specifications that can lift goods with a maximum height of 5 m, a minimum height of 0.35 m, a maximum load of 300 kg and an AC 220 V electric hoist drive. Based on the results of the performance test, in this case the test data was taken from the weight of the load that the machine can lift based on the travel time when the machine moves up and down. The load weight of 300 kg with electric scaffolding was covered in 27.44 seconds when going up and 21.02 seconds when moving down.
