Abstract

Revolutionary changes within the field of information technology now directly impacts communication as well as individual productivity. This includes the latest innovations such as smartwatches that serve as a form of digital communication. In Indonesia, smartwatch adoption has reached 23.7% of Internet users and continues to grow. This indicates a tremendous potential to transform productivity approaches. The aim of the study is to examine the phenomenon of productivity shifts that occur when people use smartwatches through the lens of the Persuasive Technology Model. To gather insights and experiences of smartwatch users, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and in-depth interviews were conducted with participants across Indonesia. In this study, data analysis was conducted based on three key elements of the Persuasive Technology Model: motivation, ability, and trigger. The theoretical implications of the study suggest that the effectiveness of the Persuasive Technology Model motivates with multidimensional incentives as opposed to singular motivators. The model proves that strategies designed in information-based progressive technologies facilitate increased engagement through digital communication, which incrementally enhances the capabilities and benefits accessible to the users. Considering Indonesia’s culture of collectivism, the more social factors concerning culture than technology have starker impacts on adoption trends of wearable technology. Automation and manual intervention both play a role in upholding a user’s feeling of urgency.

The team complemented the idea of public communication on intrapersonal strength, namely managing nervousness with an emphasis on practice, preparation, and the ability to overcome nervousness constructively. The team believes that knowledge of managing nervousness from an early age can help children in orphanages get used to facing various kinds of audiences in the future. This service method is tests, lectures and practice which include assignments and simulations. Abstract

This article presents insights into the commodification that constructs identity. The researcher focuses on mothers who have become micro-celebrities on social media. While maternal identity was previously confined to private or domestic spaces, mothers now appear as content creators. This reflects a process of commodification that transforms maternal experiences into commercial value. The commodification process of mothers involves identity reconstruction that integrates maternal values with the business dynamics of the digital era. The resulting content not only builds emotional closeness with the audience but also shapes a new paradigm in the social representation of mothers. Using a qualitative approach, this study explores how social media commodification shapes the dynamics of cultural norms, national identity, and traditional values. The result reveals that motherhood identity has undergone negotiation among mothers, the social environment, and the social media market to reach a mutually beneficial meeting point. The results also open the door to critical discussion of the impact of technology on the construction of identity and traditional values. It also provides in-depth insights into identity shifts amidst the flow of digitalization. Thus, this article contributes to an interdisciplinary understanding of the commodification and identity of mothers in social media spaces.
