Abstract

Wound healing is a process of repairing skin and soft tissue when these organs are injured. One of the plants that are presumed to affect wound healing is Kayu Jawa (Lannea coromandelic (Houtt.) Merr.). This research aims to determine the healing effect of burns and the effective dose of ethyl acetate extract of Kayu Jawa’s leaves. The animal test that has been induced using a hot plate with temperature 100oC stuck at the back of mice were divided into 5 (five) groups. Group 1 Na.CMC as Negative control, Group 2 Lanakeloid-E as Positive control, Group III, IV, and V were extract ethyl acetate of Kayu Jawa’s leaves (Lannea coromandelic (Houtt.) Merr) with 3 dosage variations namely, 75 mg/kg, 150 mg/kg, and 300 mg/kg were given topically 2 times a day for 21 days. Then wound area measure using calipers. The group with 300 mg/kg dosage has the best effect for reducing wound area of burns, with statistical value not significantly different from the comparison group (Lanakeloid-E) with a percentage value of 84%.

Abstract

Inflammation is a body protective response against tissue injury which can be characterizet by the formation of edema. Frangipani Leaves contain flavanoids, saponins and alkaloids. The flavanoid compound is considered to have a useful effect for healing edema. This research aimed to examine the effects of anti-inflamatory and determined the dose of ethanol extract of the frangipani leaves (Plumeria rubra L.) as an anti-inflammatory  in the rat. The test of anti-inflammatory effect was done by using the Rat Hind Paw Edema method in which test animals it used 15 rats divided into 5 groups: groups I (negative control)  was given Na.CMC 1% w/v, group II (positive control) was given diclofenac sodium, group III, IV and V were given the ethanol extract of the frangipani leaves successive doses of 166,6mg/kgBW, 222,2 mg/kgBW, and 277,7 mg/kgBW, all groups were orally administered. The tested animals were induced carrageenan 1% w/v in intraplantar 0,5 mL and were meansured their foot edema volume before performed before induction as the intial volume (Vo), after induction, and 1 hour after the administration of the dosage form for 5 hours with the intervals of 1 hours using the pletismometer. The research result data were proccessed statistically using on-wey anova. Based of the data analysis showed that the ethanol extract of the frangipani leaves have the activity as the anti-inflammatory and statistically, the assay extract group showed the result not significantly different (p>0,05) against the diclofenac sodium group and a dose of 277,7mg/kgBW possessed the best activity compared to a dose of 166,6mg/kgBW and 222,2mg/kgBW.

Abstract

Johar leaf has been empirically used as malaria and hepatitis medicine. This research aims to determine hepatoprotective effect of ethanol extract of Johar leaves (Cassia siamea Lamk.) of rats liver. This  research used 15 tested rats divided into 5 groups, group I was given Na.CMC 1% (negative control), group II ethanolic extract of Johar leaves of 50 mg/kgBB, group III ethanolic extract of Johar leaves of 250 mg/kgBB, group IV ethanolic extract of Johar leaves of 500 mg/kgBB, and group V as a comparison given suspension curliv® of 42,86 mg/kgBB. Giving suspension curliv® was orally done once a day for 7 days. On the 8th day, the experimental rats were given paracetamol suspension dosage of 2,5 g/kgBB. Measurements of SGPT content was done before therapy (normal), after therapy, and after administration of paracetamol. The results showed that the ethanolic extract of Johar leaves with the dose of 50; 250; 500 mg/kgBB have a hepatoprotective effect and dose is 500 mg/kgBB which was not statistically significantly different from curliv®.

Abstract

Leaf cherry (Muntingia Calabura L) empirically been used by the public as an anti-inflammatory drug. Cherry leaf contains flavonoids are thought to have antioxidant effects. This study has been tested antiinflammatory effect of ethanol extract of leaves of cherry (Muntingia Calabura L) in mice (Mus musculus). A total of 15 mice were divided into 5 groups of 3 animals. Group I (control) are given Na.CMC 1% w/v, Group II, III, and IV (treatment) were given cherry leaf extract ethanol concentration of 1% w / v, 3% w / v, and 5% w / v, as well as groups V (comparison) given Diclofenac Sodium 0.195 mg / 30 gBW. Before treatment all groups karagen induced with 1% w / v in intraplantar. Antiinflammatory effect was measured using pleytismometer. The results were analyzed statistically by one-way ANOVA method. The results showed that the ethanol extract of cherry leaf has anti-inflammatory effects and the concentration of 3% and 5% w / v has an effect no different to that diclofenac sodium.

Abstract

Wole woe is a native plant of Indonesia which is widely used by the people of Central Halmahera as a medicinal plant. Empirically this plant is widely used for wound treatment. This study aims to determine the effect of epithelialization of wole woe stem extract and determine the effective concentration and duration of wound healing in rats after administration of wole woe stem extract. This research was conducted experimentally in a laboratory using 25 rats which were divided into 5 groups consisting of 1 control group, 1 comparison group, and 3 treatment groups of wole woe stem extract. Wound induction was carried out using a 100 0C hot plate measuring 2x2 cm and affixed to the surface of the rat's back skin for 2 seconds. After a burn is formed, the extract is applied 2 times a day for 21 days. Observations on wound healing were carried out macroscopically and measuring the surface area of the wound. The results showed that the administration of wole woe bark extract influenced healing second-degree burns in rats. The results of statistical analysis showed that there was no difference between the comparison group and the extract test group (p>0.05). Based on the percent reduction in wound, the most effective concentration in wound healing was 5% (99.75%). Wound healing time in rats was 21 days.
